Dr. Eric Lawitz is Vice President of Scientific and Research and founder of the Texas Liver Institute. Prior to joining Texas Liver Institute, Dr. Lawitz spent 11 years at Brooke Army Medical Center in the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology where he served in many teaching and academic positions. Dr. Lawitz has conducted extensive research in Hepatology, authored over 300 publications and presented his work at both national and international medical meetings. He is internationally recognized for his work in liver disease research and teaching. Dr Lawitz also serves as a Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of Texas Health Center as a member of the hepatology faculty. He attends outpatient clinics.

        Overall

        Worst patient care ever experienced. They make you pay $40 co-pay just for them to confirm results. They wouldn't call me at my request. Then had to wait 2.5 weeks for them to give me my prescription information after I had to call them on four different occasions. Glad they are worried about your liver disease. Also, the doctor won't meet with you, he sends his medical assistant. They made me get the same lab work done that another doctor had me do literally one month prior. After they gave me prescription they called 3.5 months later to confirm next appointment with the assistant and then ask if I had any more lab work done. They "supposedly" sent me documents to get MORE lab work done but never received it. IF you are looking for labwork, why wait till my scheduled appointment to ask for it? They don't followup with their patients, I have had to spend $1300 in co-pay for lab work (and I have CIGNA insurance), they are not timely, the lady at the front desk was rude, and they only care about the money in their pocket versus their patient. 4 months to schedule an appointment yet I have an infectious disease. Doing your due diligence aren't you Dr. Lawitz? One rip off after another. I will travel to Austin (an hour away) before I give them another dime. You have been advised. Texas Liver Institute is a joke.
