Get with the times

I've shopped at Dorothy's before and wasn't impressed with the customer service. I asked to see jazz shoes and was questioned about whether I was sure because of the cost. Although bothered I still spent pretty penny on my three girls. I walked in today remembering that they offered a 20 percent off coupon.They wouldn't honor it off my phone because they need it printed! My goodness, get with the times Dorothy, I'm taking my business elsewhere...a coupon is a coupon and if you want my business why would you inconvenience me by having me drive back to print one?

I have been a happy customer o...

I have been a happy customer of Dorothy's for years. I travel quite often and visit other dance stores, and know that Dorothy's has a great selection and fairly good prices. The staff is pleasant and helpful. I will continue to shop here.

Buyer Beware

Dorothy's Dance Shop does not issue refunds. They will tell you, ""Take the shoes home and try'em out."".

Just don't try to take them back to the store for a refund;
they will hang on to your money and won't let go.

Inconsistent Service & Selection, Overpriced

We've been purchasing from Dorothy's for almost 20 years. Unfortunately, this is not our choice, but due to the limited number of dance suppliers in San Antonio. Their service *can* be good, but usually ranges between rude, impatient, and condescending. Assistance w/ pointe shoes (or any shoes) *always* comes with an "I really don't need to be bothered with this" attitude. This could all be bearable if the prices were relatively modest, but they're not... prices on shoes are somewhat reasonable, IF you can get a discount by finding a *valid* coupon. Apparel (tights, leotards, etc) is quite overpriced and never a good deal unless it's on clearance AND they give an additional discount. Selection is a toss-up... if the item you're looking for is something they like, they probably carry it, but if they decide they're no longer fond of a particular shoe style, you won't find what you're looking for.

Great Selection, Great Service

I've been to Dorothy's a number of times and have always gotten impeccable service. The young ladies who work there are always friendly and super helpful. As a performer, they have always shared their knowledge with me to help me select the best shoes at a fair price.
As a wardrobe master, I sent some of the cast of a touring production to Dorothy's to select and purchase some dansneakers and, as always, Laura was extremely pleasant and helpful to my cast. When we had to special order a pair of shoes they were in in a timely manner. Kudos to a great staff! I will continue to shop at Dorothy's and suggest you do the same!

Bad Service

We've been going to Dorothy's for a very long time and have never had a bad experience, until now. We were in the store this past Friday, my daughter needed new pointe shoes. Everyone knows that when you are getting fitted for pointe shoes you need someone with experience and someone very attentive. Well we received neither. The young lady, Laura, first of all treated us like we didn't belong in the store. She asked my daughter what size, and when she brought them out, she took off. They weren't busy, as a matter of fact we were the only ones in the store. She seemed bothered everytime we called her over to bring us another pair. The thing that bothered us the most, was when another family walked in she immediately helped them and forgot about us. I hate to bring it up, but we're Hispanic and the couple that walked in was Anglo, need I say more!!!

Managers were unmoral

I went to the Huebner Oaks Shopping center to buy my daughter a leo for gymnastics that she wanted as a reward for hard work. I had her older sister with me. She is Type 1 diabetic and she said she felt weak and thought her sugar was low. She checked and verified that she was low. I pulled out a snack for her to eat. I had the leo and proceeded to the check out so we could go. The lady (who I believed to be a manager) approached us and told us to step outside and that there were no food or drinks allowed in the store. I informed her that my daughter was diabetic and that it wasn't for pleasure and that her sugar was low. She looked at me and held up her hands rubbed her fingers together and said crumbs. And again asked us to step outside. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. My daughter was 14 years old at the time and doesn't go around grabbing clothing like a little kid. I had to make her go wait outside the door while I finished my transaction. I would not have bought the item if I had not told my daughter I was going to get it for her. Looking back I can't believe I let something like that happen. I was so shocked. I called the main location to speak to a manager to complain. She didn't have any morals either. She proceeded to tell me how I should have taken care of my child. She also told me that unless my daughter was on the floor and was unable to function that she should have gone outside. It was clear to me she is very uneducated. Again, I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I called the American Diabetes Association and they said that should have never happened and that they could start off by offering to educate them. My daughter was so embarassed and so was I. I will never return to the store. I suggest that they educate themselves. They need to look at the American Diabetes Associaton's website and read this article : DOJ Sues Concert Promoter For Disability Discrimination. They are not untouchable.

Great customer service

We were from out of town and were kind of getting turned around. She stayed open for us and made sure we found what we needed. She didn't act rushed or anything it was fantastic. I going to go back for my second pair of shoes.
