Delish!

I have never had anything from here that I did not like. My mother ordered the Kung Pao chicken which is something I don't normally order but it was amazing! I order it every time now. The fried spring rolls are really good. I just wish it was a better location, and that they made it more visually appealing.

Very good - could improve

I've eaten Chinese food in many cities, including China Town in San Francisco, but I will try to be unbiased.
The host was a friendly young man, very helpful with my questions concerning the degree of spiciness.
This restaurant's Hot & Sour soup was neither hot nor sour. It was just smokey flavored water, had no meat or vegetables of any kind in it. The lunch meal came quickly and was very generous -2 large scoops of fried rice, an eggroll and a generous portion of the entree. The egg roll was large and crispy, the General Chow chicken was very good, but the rice was bland. It contained nothing but coloring. The prices are comparable to other Chinese restaurants.in the area, including some with buffets..
I think this Chinese restaurant could improve a bit, put more of the crunchy Chinese vegetables & flavoring that customers expect in their food..

Don't judge a book by it's cover

I would have to admit that at first glance this would not be somewhere I would choose to stop and eat. Just goes to show you that you really cannot judge a book by its cover. My son had raved about his good experience after visiting with a friend so I had to trust him, just this once. The service was great, the food was even better! The young male waiter came to our table several times and even struck up conversation, it was welcome. The portions were more than generous. It was lunch and we had enough food to take an entire meal home. You get soup, eggroll, rice and entree and all for about 8.00 per person! Everything was perfect from the wonton soup to the egg roll. Would highly recommend and been dieing to get back!

Where have the previous owners gone to?

No offense current owners, but I really miss the previous owner's cooking ! It is true that the sesame chicken was the best in San Antonio. It was the only reason I used to go there. Can anybody tell me where the previous owners went to? Do they have another restaurant? Can you get the sesame chicken recipe from them? Again, I have seen that the current owners are very hard working people and willing to please their clients, thumbs up for that!

Always Good Food

I was treated very friendly and the owners son always makes time to come and talk to me and my sons. The sesame chicken is second to none not to mention the prices.

Best Chinese food in Northeast San Antonio

China Sun is a small, out-of-the-way restaurant, great for a quite, un-rushed meal. The atmosphere is not the best, but the service is adequate and the food IS the best and reasonably priced, especially at lunch. In fact, the food there is much better than at fancy, high-priced restaurants, and sometimes I absolutely crave their particular dishes. The portions are generous; I always take some home. You don't have to dress up, it's VERY casual and relaxed. Give them a try.

Excellent In Every Respect

China Sun is the best of the Chinese food restaurants in Northeast San Antonio. I wont' select any other Chinese restaurant around for my periodic ""fix"" of Pork Egg Foo Yung.
