Oh, if only ZERO stars were possible! I just received yet another invoice from this wretched place with a handwritten note at the bottom stating "don't ever come back!" Granted, the balance was zeroed out as there should have NEVER been a balance to begin with but the bitter woman who handles their billing has to be by far the most tacky, unprofessional waste of space I have ever had to encounter. To anyone reading this.... as I sit here laughing hysterically at this woman's ignorant display, please TRUST that I will gladly take my pets elsewhere from this point forward and very strongly recommend that you do the same. Professional ethics here are clearly nonexistent!

With all of these bad reviews, I felt compelled to write this one. I am SO GLAD that Angel of Mercy was there for my family and me last week when our 9 month old puppy started having seizures out of the blue. They were polite and they took great care of my furbaby. Yes, they are a bit pricey but ... that's the nature of the beast (no pun intended) when it comes to an emergency. It's expensive for humans to go to the emergency room so, what do you expect? But the price wasn't so outrageous that I would post a bad review. Not to mention, they gave my a 5% military discount! At least with Angel of Mercy, I had a roundabout idea as to what my bill was going to be. I cannot say the same about Banfield- which is where I was taking my furbaby after I left AoM. Dr. Mikula was up front with everything while I felt like Banfield was grasping at straws. Which is leading me to take my dog back to a private veterinarian.

Anyhoo, THANK YOU ANGEL OF MERCY!! You took great care of my Penny and, for that, you are alright in my book. I hope I never see you again but, if I do need emergency care, you have my business. :-)

Highly recommend Angel of Mercy Animal Critical Care!! My kitten and I were treated like VIPs and I was so stressed out that I REALLY appreciated this a couple weeks ago. Dr Babbitt took time with me and my very sick animal and explained everything so well. The technician really cared about my it was his own baby! I felt very at ease leaving my tiny one in their hands! Everytime I called to check on her, I was not made to feel like a bother but given time and explanation of what was going on. When I requested to speak to a doc, Dr Ridder called me back in a reasonable amount of time. When it was time for me to pick up my kitten, the staff was very accommodating with my crazy schedule! Critical care is expensive (i keep a savings for emergency health care) but this clinic is reasonably priced for what you get in return. Thank you Dr Ridder, Dr Babbitt and all who assisted there at Angel of Mercy for saving this precious kitten that was so close to death. She is thriving now!

Repeated Customer

I have had to use Angel of Mercy on several occasions and would not know what I would have done if they did not exist. I love Dr. Ridder and her staff always treats my pets as if they were their own. Yes, they do charge me more than my regular vet does but that cost is nothing in comparison to the love and care that they provide.

Compassionate Care

I came to Angel of Mercy on a holiday weekend and was very satisified with the service I had received. Not only was the staff friendly (despite having to work on a holiday) but their prices were very reasonable and Dr. Ridder was honest and down-to-earth. My cat was diagnosed with terminal cancer and without Dr. Ridder, I wouldn't have been able to spend as much quality time with her at home before having to make the hardest decision of my life to put her to sleep. All in all, I spent about $600 for a full diagnostic work-up and outpatient treatment, which is very good considering the specialty vet quoted me over twice that amount! I hope to never go through that again but I am comforted by the fact that there are actually people out there that care more about client and patient care rather than money.

Will definitely refer people here!

My cat became extremely ill one night after my vet had already closed. I really didn't like the thought of having to go some place where I was not familiar with the staff, but had no other choice. My vet recommended Angel of Mercy on the answering machine at their office. So I called and told them I was on my way.

The staff were very quick to get me checked in and I was speaking with the doctor before I knew it. The doctor made sure to give me several options for treatment, but in the end I chose to put her down to end her suffering. They made me feel very comfortable and at peace with my decision. Overall I feel that they were compassionate and understanding, which is exactly what I needed since this was one of the toughest decisions I've ever had to make!

Dr. Ridder took Excellent care...

Dr. Ridder took Excellent care of my cat, Lucy. Lucy was happy when I came to see how she was doing, and she was comfortable there!! All the staff was kind, courteous and very helpful in my worry about my kitty. All animals love this good Dr.; Lucy and I are grateful! Blinda Irby

The worst Vet service. Ignores state and Federal Laws!

Our 9 week old puppy started having seizures cobined with a blank stare. No blinking or curiousity that a puppy usually shows. My wife brought the dog to Angel of Mercy and after initial exam they first stated the dog was seizing at this time and needs an IV with Vallium($150). That was denied so instead they placed the dog in an O2 cage(didn't offer or state cost but charged us for it). Vet presented list of diagnostic tests that need to be performed combined with the outrageous price tag. He stated that if we opted to put the puppy down, it is a ""candidate for rabies testing"". My wife stated she would bring the puppy home and hope all is well.

Our poor puppy expired that night. Upon contacting Angel of Mercy in the morning concerning the rabies testing they stated they are an overnight clinic only and are closing so we need to contact our normal vet. 15 different vet clinics and two different Animal Control Services offices were contacted trying to obtain a way of getting this test done and no luck. We received a call back from the vet at Angel of Mercy saying he was contacted and that we can put the corpse on ice and bring it in after 6pm and pay the testing fee($75).

That to me was unacceptable! I went to the local Animal Control Office and talked with Asst Director. He stated that vet saying chance of rabies should of had the dog put down and immediate processing for testing for the virus. Any other action taken to include allowing us to leave with the animal is against state laws.

ACS is conducting the test to provide me the needed information to save my family but they requested all the information we received from this clinic.

I took my dog to Angel of Mercy last night because I had suspected that she had eaten rat poison and she was hemorrhaging heavily . They were short staffed but I was seen in no time at all. The tech Steven, Dr. Dale Wingfield, and the receptionist were all impeccable and caring people! After the proper blood tests were run and the vet came out to show me the results that he had printed out, he could have easily scared me (being that I have no veterinary training) into shelling out money for a blood transfusion with the platelet counts that I saw. Instead, he was assuring that although they were low they were not transfusion low. He was very thorough in explaining all the results and the care that I needed to perform for her. I am so grateful for the honest and caring staff!!! They turned a very scared woman into a relieved one and now my dog will live!

DOESNT CARE ABOUT ANIMALS, JUST MONEY!!!!!!! I took my dog in because of a large cut on her foot. After accusing me that it had been a longer time from the time of her accident, they came out with a bill over 1500 dollars. They told me she needed surgery and skin grafts and probably wouldnt be able to even walk. After I told them I did not have that kind of money and they would not take payments, they poorly wrapped her foot back up. After informing them of exactly how much money I had available at the time the bill was amazingly exactly that amount, for a shot of pain killers, a shot of antibiotics and told me that if I didnt have the money I should put her down. I then had to take her home while she was LEAVING A BLOOD TRAIL on the ground because they wouldnt even attempt to stitch her closed. I wrapped the wound myself and changed the badages myself over the next few weeks and it is now almost completely healed and she can walk fine. They even admitted to me that they charge more. They take advantage of people in their time of desperation and heartache when a family memeber is hurt. I will let everyone I know to not go back to this vet that only cares about the money and not the animal.

Do not take your pet here, Dr. Babbitt was rude

I took my little dog in on a Sunday with labored breathing. We got in to see thevet pretty quick. I guess the more distressed you appear about your pet, the more the appear to prey on yor pocket book. Thats my impression only. Well, I got this $1200 estimate and was told it still may not help my dog. So, after he literally told me he needed a deposit or basically,""show me the money"" attitude, I told him give me the necessary meds to get him through the day and night which he did do and we paid him $332.07 for xrays , oxygen, visit and a couple of pills. I took the records he gave me to my vet and she said it didn't look as bad as he was prtraying. She did labs which showed an infection. This Dr. Babbitt wanted to do xrays first and foremost. I have to say I am pleased I did not let him get to me and took my dog to his regular vet.

Emergency Visit

I had taken my daughters puppy to this vet as he was extremely ill, he would not have lived through the weekend. I was told that he was a "Parvo Puppy" that he was ill with Parvo, paid in excess of $250.00 for the visit and meds, I told him (the vet) he was recently innoculated for parvo etc... and he said that Parvo would not show up in the test, (he was WRONG research helps!) well I took the meds he sold us, and found a second opinoion to find out that he did not have Parvo, and tested like that because of the recent vaccination. He was losing his life to Round Worms. He was immediately treated for the Round Worms and made an complete recovery within a couple of days. By the way my dog has been tested twice since then and DOES NOT have Parvo! If you truly care for your pet, I would think twice here as the vet that saw my puppy was not very knowledgeable!!!!!

Quick and Upfront Service!

Our regular vet is usually closed over the weekend. When we woke up on Sunday morning, we found that our dog had vomited blood near his food and water bowls. We didn't know what time it had happened, but we wanted to get him seen right away. The techs at Angel of Mercy were great. They saw him right away, check for the obvious, and then informed us about what it could be - ranging from something minimal to something critical. They were also upfront about the cost of possible tests and what tests were considered optional, recommended, and necessary.

The tech were super friendly with him, and when they were done, they also send over the records to our regular vet for follow-up. This is the only time he's had an emergency!

Angel of Mercy is a caring place

I just finished reading all of the reviews and I'm very sorry for those people who had a bad experience. We had to take my cat in last night. She was breathing hard and had been lethargic for about a day. Both vets were very compassionate and empathetic as was the vet tech, who cried with us when we received the diagnosis. Our cat had major cardio problems and would have had a long and painful treatment path if she had even survived the night. Angel of Mercy is set up for critical emergencies, not routine vet care. We have never had any problems with the staff, the vets, or the waiting time. I would definitely recommend them and while I hope we won't need their services again, I would certainly use them if necessary.

DO NOT GO THERE! Our lab was bitten by a snake so we took her there because her face was swollen and she was in pain, other than that she seemed ok. There was no one there so they took her back right away, we were impressed, but wondered why they would take her without us. They called us and said that they needed to sedate our dog because she became aggressive (not like her). We were told the vet would come and talk to us, he came in, worst bedside manners ever. He came in and tried to give us the scare technique, told us of all possibilities all extremely drastic, (I could read his pitch, and I was sickened, he is suppose to be a doctor for animals not a sales person!) After he was done with his sales pitch, they came in with a $1500 estimate, I would pay whatever it took, but I could read thru him after we didn't fall for it, they came in with 3 other ""estimates"". I finally just said her something for pain and I will keep an eye on her. $109 for giving her a shot. We took her in the morning to her regular vet she said our lab was doing good all her vitals were good (didn't need sedation) but was in a lot of discomfort, she kept her for the day gave her antibiotics, anti-inflammatory meds, pain meds, all for under $200. And today she is doing great, just 48 hours later, most of the swelling is better. I wonder how many people are scared at Angel of Mercy (what a joke), and end up spending unnecessary amounts of money. BEWARE of the SALES PERSON VET. To be fair, to the clinic it may only be the one vet I encountered Rob Coke, but if so they must evaluate the people that represent the hospital.

I took my dog to this hospital after I noticed he was limping. The staff was very friendly (which put me at ease and helped me trust them - BEWARE). They were very professional and super friendly and great with my dog. $350.00 later I was told that my dog needed surgery. Of course I was shocked. They do not do surgery there so I would have to bring my dog to my regular vet.

What I was overcharged for. Dr. Zachary told me that she had to take x-rays and then had to push my dogs leg back into its socket, because the hip was out of its socket. She was so proud of herself. She saved the day pushed a clot out of his leg and charged me tons of money. Well, she told me to dope up my dog until he gets into the vet. $350.00 and I believed her.

Took my dog to the regular vet to find out the hip was fine. She did nothing at all. The x-rays that they gave me showed nothing wrong with his hips. He pulled a muscle and is 100% better.

All in all they are crooks, they had me fooled. I thought that they were taking care of my dog but instead they were taking care of their wallets.

Traumatic Experience!

My 11 year old daughter and I brought our puppy in to Angels of Mercy for bloody stools, labored breathing, inability to eat/drink. We waited and waited as others who seemed less critical were seen. I told the receptionist that I didn't think our puppy would make it through the night if she wasn't seen asap. The receptionist took yet another pet back before us. After we waited for for over an hour, the receptionist informed us that there was no more room in the back and she needed to refer us to another emergency clinic. ""she definately needs to be seen tonight, so take her to the fredricksburg road hospital"" we were told as my daughter cried (we knew she was slipping away and suffering). We didn't even make it half way to the fredricksburg road hospital before our puppy took her last breath in my daughters arms. How traumatic for her.
I called the office to tell them that our puppy died and the receptionist said ""oh my God, so sorry."" Our puppy suffered an agonizing death and we were turned away from a veterinary emergency clinic that is supposed to be there to help. And all they could say was sorry. How sad.

My Cat & I Thank Angel of Mercy Care

I took my cat to his regular vet when I noticed he was having seizure-like occurences. I spent over $400 on tests, labs, xrays, and meds but they still could not tell me what the problem was. A week later on Christmas nite, my cat had several more seizure-like incidents so I decided to try to lay down with him to comfort him. He laid on my chest still in obvious pain but shortly moved off and peed blood near me. I rushed him to the Angel of Mercy clinic where they diagnosed him to have a serious UTI infection that was causing blockage in his digestive system that could result in death if left untreated much longer. They flushed his bladder and sent me home with prescription cat food and the prescription I needed to fill. My bill there was only $200. My cat is now doing wonderful and I am currently on the hunt for a regular vet. I am grateful for the work of Dr. Ridder and staff.

Thank GOD for Angel Of Mercy

On Saturday, July 12, 2008 I took my 4 year old Peek a Poo to the ER.

After been given some advice on keeping other dogs off my lawn I was told to distribute mothballs around the

perimeter of the property. I crushed the mothballs and sprinkled them around. Later that evening I took

my 2 girls out and I thought I saw my Daisy eat a portion of one. That sent me into a frenzy and looked

up the the number to Angel of Mercy Hospital. The receptionist was wonderful, she listened to me and

put me on hold while she spoke to the vet. Although I was not positive she had injested any amount I needed

to be sure. I was told to take Daisy in. They were wonderful, the assistant came out and took Daisy and reassured

me that everything would be OK. Daisy was made to empty her stomach content. Nothing was found but just having

the reassurance made me feel better.

A big thank you to Dr. Ridder and her entire staff.

If ever needed I will return and I recommend them to anyone.
