This was a good restaurant but it has been closed for a couple of years now. If anyone knows if the owner has relocated maybe you can post it on this site, otherwise this restaurant needs to be taken off.

This restaurant is mainly a drive thru restaurant, it delivers very far from its location and it's family owned, the prices are much cheaper than other chinese restaurants and the food is always made really quickly and has a high quality, I highly reccomend it!

Chang's has been my favorite restaurant BY FAR for years, but the company has a serious problem they need to address because the theme is consistent in online reviews: CONSISTENCY!!! It used to be that maybe one in ten visits to a Chang's was somewhat disappointing, but now it's 50/50 at best! To help ensure I don't have to write a bad review (because I love the company!) I asked my server (who was great) to make sure the chef knew I was a nationwide Chang's customer and that my Mongolian Beef was crispy. I'm sure the server did because he was very good otherwise. What did I get? Not only a dish that was less crispy than normal, but one that was not crispy AT ALL and also undercooked!!! P.F. Changs corporate are you listening?? Your customer base is writing bad reviews everywhere not because they don't like you but because they are tired of being disappointed after you've served them food they WANT to return to buy and instead get something that isn't as good as the frozen version at Wal Mart for $7.50 and that ISN'T sarcasm, at this point the frozen spicy chicken or sweet & sour chicken is a somewhat overpriced but tasty consistent deal and going for the REAL THING is a rip off!!!. I never send food back, and of course didn't this time, but I'm done now after eating countless entrees that were not correctly prepared (been to about 14 locations numerous times so I have an idea of what is correct). From now on it's going back and if it's not right again I walk out and write another review stating such until Chang's gets its act together or I give up on them :( ---------------------------------------------------- Update: I returned twice (so far) to give this location a chance at redemption after serving me nearly raw Mongolian Beef a few days earlier (that's not very crispy!), and the visit went much better. The Sesame Chicken was prepared well, although a couple times at other locations I've had it where the corners are bordering crispy like the Mongolian Beef and out of this world!) and tasted as good as it looked. The server was a young girl who leaves plenty to be desired but did an OK job (I won't be too hard because they have been slammed all holiday week and maybe she is burned out). On my next visit I got the Kung Pao Scallops and asked for them to be well cooked and they came out just fine. The real star of this visit however was a server named Mandy, a young girl who told me she has ample experience in hospitality and it shows, however, her personality is what is important and she was so pleasant and attentive that I wrote an email to Chang's corporate to make sure she is recognized and her management takes good care of her because she knows how to do the job unlike so many of the bozos we see in the world today who should not even think about working in hospitality. I've had better Chang's food, but Mandy pulled the rating right up to a 5.
when my husband and i were trying to find a place to eat for our last night in san antonio on our getaway, we had it narrowed down to two places: the iron cactus and ritas. we just knew we wanted margaritas and mexican food. we wanted them to be good but at just before 7:00, we didn't think we would have to worry about making our plans right before 10 pm. HAHA were we wrong. ANYWAYS, after reading reviews on another website, we chose here because rita's had "horrible service and margaritas". did someone get them mixed up?! they are kind of close to each other. our waiter was ok- at first. i have been waiting tables for 6 years and bartending for 4 of them. when a waiter is nervous or has a bad night, i can tell, but i am sympathetic. but what i am NOT sympathetic to is being ignored or lied to. my husband asked what the difference between the margarita and the mexican martini size/price and our waiter told us it was DOUBLE THE SIZE... well for only 3 dollars more, it just made sense(from what he told us, DOUBLE THE SIZE, right?!?!?) so my husband ordered it and i a strawberry margarita, regular size. about 20 minutes later after our waiter had checked on his other tables several times without asking us if we were ready to order, we get our margaritas and they are NOT at all what they should be. my "strawberry" margarita was a house margarita with a tiny bit of strawberry swirled around the glass... i should have just gotten a house i guess. my husband's margarita was in a glass 2 oz. bigger than mine(we have them at the place i work) and since my margarita wasn't an ounce big... it was NOT twice the size. totally disappointed. it tasted good though. after 2 hours waiting for our food it took another 40 minutes waiting for our check(other tables of fernando's had the same problem), we contemplated asking for our bill several times(for the drinks, before the food came out), and right before we did it our food came out. it was lukewarm, my husband's fajitas were not sizzling and my queso was cold. by now it was 9:10 and we were so mad we just wanted to leave. we finally got to leave iron cactus at 9:40.. an almost THREE HOUR dining NIGHTMARE... at least the food could have been hot. i would have complained to the manager that night but it seems that a bunch of people beat me too it. we really had to make it to our other obligations, luckily we did. i knew that harassing a manager wouldn't make me feel better but maybe warning other people would...
When I first saw the outside of China Stix, I wasn't too sure about eating there. But once I walked into the restaurant, everything was very assuring. Nicely decorated, but not with the cheesy dragons and the ridiculous hanging lights. However, the staff was not Asian at all. But that allows anyone to work there, encouraging a multi-ethnical staff. Although the laminated menus did not match the ambiance of the rest of the dining area, there was a very large selection. From pan fried dumplings to Hunan delight, the restaurant was quite diverse. First, I ordered the pan fried dumplings because I am a huge fan. About ten minutes later, they came with a spicy sweet sauce which was extraordinary. It complimented the dumplings extremely well. Next the three entrees came: Kung Pao Chicken (If it isn't good, then the whole restaurant), Sesame Chicken (For a sweet touch), and Jalapeno Chicken (Just for Fun). All of them were great, especially the sauces. Believe it or not, the sesame chicken was my favorite. Although a little overbreaded, it was quite tasty. The Jalapeno chicken came in second, but it still had a unique flavor. It wasn't as spicy as I wanted it, but the taste was great. Finally, the Kung Pao Chicken was my least favorite. It was just a little bland. At least it wasn't your ordinary square-chopped chicken with square-chopped ingredients. Instead, you could taste all of the vegetables in your mouth; like they were grown in the kitchen. Everything was very fresh, which was a major turn on. Each dish was served with an egg roll and fried or steamed rice. The egg roll was ordinary - a little bland. The fried rice was actually surprisingly good. With the sauces from the entrees, the rice combination was excellent. Overall, the food was very pleasant. Service was satisfying. One thing to improve on is service though. Also, the food could be a little more seasoned. Other than that, it was a very good Chinese restaurant. I would definitely go back again and again and again.
We tried China Bistro tonight as my husband had been dying to try this lovely little restaurant. It is tucked in a small strip mall on Babcock but do not let that fool you. Once inside you notice how cozy and welcoming of an atmosphere. You are greeted upon entering and everyone there is very gracious; very much concerned about your experience. Since it was our first time, the owner even came to chat with us after dinner. The food is very good, fresh and deliciously prepared. I ventured a bit outside my comfort zone and while I am not usually a fan of green and red peppers, the food was excellent, wonderfully cooked and presented. You cannot beat the price and if you choose the dinner special (4pm to close) you receive soup, fried rice, entree, egg roll or crab rangoon or sweet and sour pork for around $7. You also receive the little fried crunchies with your soup. We were simply shocked when our server brought out our dinner. The portions were HUGE. I mean we left with four boxes of leftovers and we are not little eaters! At any rate, try this place - you will not be disappointed by this quiet, very clean, very welcoming restaurant. We are big Chinese food lovers - both Chinese American dishes as well as authentic Chinese dishes. We have enjoyed Chinese food in some of the best places across the US and Canada. . We have also had the pleasure of eating in China, specifically the Hunan and Guangdong provinces. China Bistro is definitely a cut above with their cozy atmosphere, their awesome food, and their fabulous service! If we could rate this restaurant with 6 stars, we would!!!
I am not sure if many places...especially of the fast food sorts...would fit the bill for a 5-star rating. Still, Podna's Catfish and Po'Boys was an easy choice for a top rating. Having spent 6 months living in San Antonio, this place became one of my favorites. Although it is a place that could be easily overlooked on Austin Highway, and generally would not be fit for a 30 minute lunch if you work downtown, I found as many opportunities to go back as my co-workers would allow. The food in general is really good, but of course, you should shoot for the po'boys. My favorite was the 12" 1/2 fried oyster, 1/2 fried shrimp. Whatever you choose, it is overflowing with meat, the roll that it comes in is fresh and the sauce that you can add on your own is great. The fries weren't necessarily my favorite, but they are still really tasty and not overly fried or salty. This is a pretty basic restaurant, and watch out for the high noon lunches, as it might be difficult to find a table. But the staff is really nice and the owner, who willingly shares about his visit to New Orleans which led to the start of his business, is definitely a friendly character. Although I was never that rushed, they even have a drive-through, and I have heard that you can call in orders and have them cater. Now, I am off to new eating adventures in Dallas, TX as a next step in my own professional pursuits, but Podna's will definitely be on my list when I take my next trip to SA.
I have to agree the food from Peng's is very good but the men in the kitchen (including Jenny's husband) are not very clean. I worked at Peng's for a while and could not believe some of the things the cooks did back there like smoking while cooking the food, dropping food on the floor and still using it. There were always rat droppings in the storage room and when Jenny did have the exterminator come she never closed the next day although she knew there were gonna be roaches everywhere. There was 1 day I was so embarrased because a table of 3 women walked out without paying because a big roach was on their table while they were eating, plus there were roaches on the blinds and some crawling on the floor and all Jenny said was "Just pick em up with a napkin and throw em away". People always complained about the taste of the iced tea and that is because they do not use a tea machine, instead they put the tea bags in a bucket with hot tap water and let them sit in the freezer.
I orders crab rangoons, sweet and sour delight, small hot and sour soup for delivery. I was expecting rangoons like any other place I've gotten them from, soggy greasy and chunky cream cheese filling, what I got was delicious golden crispy rangoons with an actual creamy filling. The hot and sour soup surprised me the same way, I was expecting typical thick gelatin "soup" with some mushrooms and tofu. What I actually got was the best hot and sour soup I've ever put in my mouth. The sweet and sour delight, consisting of fried shrimp, chicken and pork was also delicious. Usually sweet and sour chicken shrimp or pork I get from other places turns out to be a greasy soggy mess but these were crisp and golden. Other than the shrimp was a bit over cooked and the chicken was a little dry but other than that it was perfect (pork was excellent) I plan on making it my permanent place to get Chinese and Vietnamese food from
Across from the Hotel Valencia this little deli exceeded my expectations. We were waiting for the valet and I spied this deli across the street. I asked the girl at the counter for something quick and delicious. She suggested the Unforgettable Druthers (turkey, cream cheese, bacon, sprouts, tomato, and avocado) and Kenny's Klub (turkey, bacon, onion, tomato) sandwiches. When I got in the car my boyfriend and I split the Unforgettable Druthers first. Who knew sprouts could be so good. Later on we shared the Klub and that was amazingly good too. All I have to say that I am glad the valet took forever with our car. If he hadn't we might have never had the pleasure of eating here. Love the food, will be back next time I am in town. I can't wait to try those sandwiches from the grill! :)
My brother and his wife went to for their Anniversary a few days ago and I was looking to take my wife for her Birthday Meson was recommended we choose to give it a try and we're happy we did. The food, ambiance, service and the staff were great. We have the le, escargo as appetizer, the house salad (Organic spring mix) Service with the French vinaigrette, my wife had the Lamb and I had the grilled New York cut of beef served with the bernaise sauce, a bottle of Little Black Dress wine which was very good for $21.00 I spoke with the owner who is from Dominican Republic and he said that they moved from the Zavala where they open on 1995 now they have being in the new location since 2008.Any way we enjoy everything there and will be back and tell every badge we know to give a try.
Now When we want a nice diner or lunch we go to Meson. The food is very very good we was there a few days ago for diner and to day we went for lunch We ordered the Ceasar Salad for two prepared table side and their lunch day special which was crab meat sauteed with a reduction of batter and wine with a hint of east indian spices, friend order the grilled salmon which was fresh and juicy, the Ice Tea and lemonade was the best we ever have, we complement the waiter and he said they use Kangen Water to make their tea, coffee and their thing in the restaurant. They have a full bar with very large wine list at very good price and private room for meeting. The place is beautiful and the people are nice. We recommend
