After looking at over 20 assisted living facilities in the area before picking my father up, Carol Ann's went #1 to my list right off. The facilities are beautiful, clean, and "homey", the owner is awesome, and ALL the nursing staff/and care staff (including Melissa)go above and beyond to make sure their clients and family feel part of the "family" at Carol Ann's. If you are looking for a "family" atmosphere, where they put your family's needs at the top of their list, you will not find a better place then Carol Ann's. I read through a recent post, and I know the situation very well. Unfortunately, the person who wrote the things about Melissa, has never met Melissa in person, so she doesn't know the sweet, loving, caring person she is, nor does she know the care her father gets from her. Lorin just a negative person who because of monitored situations, has not been allowed to speak to her father, after being thoroughly monitored by APS, social workers, the family, and the authorities. She's tried everything, without success, and this is her place to vent, along with other places, that we are finding. The only REAL PROBLEM is Lorin, not the facility. The authorities have been notified, and they are doing everything in their power to stop her, unfortunately, she has been told to stop, and wont. Sooner or later her lies will catch up to her. My suggestion to anyone looking for a place to have their family member call "home" is to check out Carol Ann's for yourself. I cannot say enough good things about them. If you are looking for a warm, loving, caring facility, that feels like a "family" and "home" then Carol Ann's is the place for anyone in your family. I cannot say enough about the staff and the owner, who despite putting up with family members out of control, and things that are being said by one very lonely, sad, negative person, has been nothing but kind and understanding through a very difficult family dynamic. My recomendation always is to look for yourself. If it might not be what everyone is looking for, but definately what I was looking for, for my loved one, and would not change my decision for anything! My parent has come so far in such a short time, and is so happy and content at Carol Ann's!! My last and final remark would be this. Remember, there is always "someone" who has nothing better to do with their time but speak negative about any and everything, and unfortunately with as many "social media" sites out there, you cannot stop someone from writing their opinion down, but you can educate yourself, and make the decision that is best for your family....and I hope you do!! Making this kind of decision is hard enough, but when you have someone doing things like this any chance they get, that should tell you that Carol herself, her staff, and people involved are doing their jobs superbly, not the other way around! Good luck in whatever choice you make for your loved one!

Our Dad has stayed in Respite Care (short term assisted living) twice now and we could not be more pleased with his care. His first stay was 3 weeks; his current stay is thus far 2 weeks. Boyd and ALL of his staff are professional, respectful, very kind & caring, and loving too, not just to our Dad, but to our entire family as well. Our Mom has memory issues and each time she visits for the afternoon, she is well taken care of too. Our Dad has balance issues and has fallen several times. In the past 10 months since he got sick, he has fallen about fifty times. The fall protocols Boyd and his staff have in place leave absolutely no doubt that our Dad is responded to in a timely manner with the utmost concern for his wellbeing. Our Dad's overall state of being actually improves during his stays. Boyd and his staff also do an outstanding job of keeping us well informed, and accommodating our requests. We can't thank Boyd and EVERYONE ON STAFF enough for the outstanding service they have provided to our family. We highly recommend Emeritus at Lincoln Heights.
My grandma was set to transfer to Powerback rehab upon discharge of the hospital but the case manager dropped the ball. A referral was sent in to Mesa Vista, and after seeing the terrible reviews all over the Internet, I raised all the hell I could but no other facility had any open beds. Our family couldn't have been more shocked at the outcome at Mesa Vista. The facility was very quiet, which worried us at first, but it worked in the best interest of my grandmother. From the moment she arrived, the facility was beautiful. Her private room was already setup. Her nursing staff has been extremely attentive. My grandma has a soft food died and when the facility didn't have strawberry Ensure stocked, they actually went out to purchase it and put it in the fridge in her room!!! By and large, God had a better plan for us and it worked out better than we could have ever hoped. She's been very happy and comfortable there. THANK YOU MESA VISTA for taking such great care of her during her stay!
My daily prayer for my mom is that she is happy, feels loved, safe and secure and has friends. I have found that she has all of these things at Bader House. The staff is very caring and knows my “new mom” on a personal level. My mom has quality of life now because she is happy almost all of the time and loves the staff, the home-like atmosphere with home-cooked meals and the friends who live with her. Because of the people that work at Bader House, I am able to be the daughter again. It is hard to give someone else the control of a loved one’s complete care. With the confidence I have in the staff at Bader House I am able to turn my mom’s care over to them. I know that she is in the best hands possible, getting better care than what I could give her.The support of the staff at Bader House is important to my husband and me as well. We are a team that walks together with my mom through her dementia journey. Pamela C.
As of November 28, 2013 there is a breakout of scabies affecting patients, family members as well as the medical staff. This is on the 400 hall where all the ventilators are. The administrator, DON and office people are in no hurry to provide everyone with medication for this, nor have they even bothered to ask who is affected, They are obviously not affected, meanwhile we are suffering with this itching. CNA's are seen wearing used gloves outside the room and going and opening cabinets, and doing other things. They leave the rooms without washing their hands after working with soiled patients. There are times where you can't find one CNA since they are both gone from the floor and appear flustered and in bad moods. Housekeeping for this hall is almost non-existent as the room and bathrooms are pretty nasty.
I moved here on February 1, 2015 from Pennsylvania. My son helped me move here by contacting A Place for Mom and they recommended New Forest Estates. I worked with Debra and she stressed this was independent living. It was important to me to still have my car and I have a large one bedroom. I love it. Honestly, I have loved living here since day one. Everyone is so warm, friendly and welcoming and it has been a wonderful experience. My family calls to make sure I still love it and the answer doesn’t change. I feel very comfortable here. My family doesn’t have to worry about me. I’m well taken care of here and everything is offered to you living here as a tenant. And there’s always something going on here and you can be as busy as much as you want to be with activities.
My Mother was placed her by the Case Manager at the hospital while I was out of town and I was really scared because I was able to screen the facility first. She was there 3 days when I was finally able to go see her. I was surprised to see her in the rehab gym working with the therapist. When she was finished we were asked to attend a care conference. We were asked about what she likes to eat, how she like to spend her time, down to what time she likes to take her bath. These people are fantastic, they really care about her happiness. I couldn't have chosen a better place for my Mom. Monica the RN stays on top of everything.
I placed my mom at that nursing home and I fell in love with the staff they were all great to my mom they went above and beyond to take care of her. She is on hospice and was there for respite care which means she was only there for five days. But I recommend a place to everyone that I know that is on hospice. I have placed my mother in different locations but she has never had the best care other than Mesa Vista. So thank you Mesa Vista staff for taking good care of my mom and having her participate in a lot of activities during her five days stay. Patricia G

Whoo-hoo for Northgate! A family member reported to ADON, see comes to see her father every day in the evening. She stated, "I am well pleased with the care and the staff on 400 hall. Brandon is a great nurse, Dymon and Sheena are some of the compassionate CNA"s I know!'
