There are much better mex restaurants in SA. Especially ones that don't charge "extra" for chopped onions and cheese (instead of sauce) on Cheese Enchiladas! Almost as ludicrous as La Gloria (the mex street food one, out by the Dominion) that charges $5 for a small bowl of chips to go with the mediocre salsa.
2. W D Deli
My friends and I decided to try this place out after an SAT one Saturday. It was a gorgeous day, and W.D. Deli was a great place to eat outside. The service was good, and the people that worked there were super friendly. There are many different sandwiches to choose from, and the cookies are gre…
6. Wetmore Deli
When we moved into the neighborhood, we decided to give Wetmore Deli a shot. My husband and I both ordered the chicken sub w/ bacon and provolone cheese. I would love to be able to review the rest of the menu for you, but that is simply not the case. We both fell madly in love with the chicke…
Sweeties is a great place for a lunch with friends - old home set up as a deli with a tea house feeling. The owners are from New Orleans; their quality food and friendliness make this the perfect place to relax and enjoy a break.
9. Jesse's Deli
Just had this place for the first time today. I can't believe I've driven past this place for three years and never stopped. Now I'm moving away to Michigan and losing such a treasure. I had the philly cheesesteak....O! M! G! it was soooo good. It was like a cloud with steak and cheese and onion…
I ordered the chile relleno dinner and it was delicious. I wanted the mole sauce instead of the enchilada sauce on the enchilada. They changed without a question. The pan dulce was delicious too.
I just enjoy the atmosphere here, they are family oriented and been eating there since I was a child.
Always recommend Mi Tierra's to out of town guests. In my experience the food is always good. They are always busy and therefore service is not very quick however they can not be blamed for being busy, rather it's a testament to their reputation as a restaurant. Once you sit down the service is very acceptable. The atmosphere is festive and gives diners a real feel for the heart of San Antonio's spirit. There may be better samples of mexican food but with it's Riverwalk location, mariachis and ambiance it always impresses.
