My first experience with the family owned shop was interesting, and that should have been a hint. I walked-in the shop to see what they had to offer in wedding cakes, since I was getting married and needed to order my cake. I was greeted by the mother, which was nice but she didn't speak a word of English. I had to sit and wait for the daughter to arrive at the shop to talk about their cakes. After deciding to give them a try (not usually a good idea to try a brand new place for such a special event), I encountered a lot of little fees in our contract, which pretty much undid the big savings I was going to gain from using them in the first place. One of these fees was a large deposit for using their silver cake stand, which never made it to our wedding!! The cake looked nice and tasted good but I was very disappointed with this mistake. Later on, the owner refunded my deposit and said that the wedding that used our cake stand the day before, did not return it on time, which is completely ridiculous. If you are going to have a business, you should keep plenty of cake stands in stock! She offered to make us a small free cake (only after I called and shared my dismay) for our 1st anniversary, which was nice. Then later on, I found out that most cake shops offer this to all of their customers as a complimentary service. Overall, not so impressed. I hope they 'get it together' if they hope to stay in business. My advice is, save yourself the headache and go elsewhere.
Best place to have a great breakfast or lunch in the city. Much better than Panera or Jason's Deli down the road. The food was fresh tasted great... I had the Ruben Panini and cup of the potato soup. I wish they had more than one location!

My husband and I decided to try out the new burger joint in town and boy were we surprised. The entire experience was great from start to finish. These people definately read the How-To book on customer service. The burgers tasted like homemade burgers without the fuss. Anything you wanted to put on a burger, they have it. The fries are delicious, but be forewarned, a small order could feed 3 or 4 people, they serve a lot! Oh, and don't forget the peanuts in boxes here and there with scoops and boats to put them in, just in case you are starving. It took about 7 minutes to get our order but they wait for your order before they finish the patties, same with the french fries. Folks, these aren't McDonald's or Burger King fries, these are the real deal. You can see they were cut fresh, skin and all. Five Guys Burgers and Fries isn't just around the corner yet, but they will be. We were there from 4:30 to about 5:15. When we entered there were 6 people in the restaurant, by the time we got our order and ate there were 22. I'll finish this up with a yummmmmmm!
While staying in San Antonio we didn't have a car and were trying to save every dollar possible, which meant walking instead of taking the bus. So we walked all the way from the other side of San Antonio town to get to this little cafe. It is literally situated in what feels like the middle of nowhere. It was worth the walk. Everything is gluten free. Not only that, but it tastes delicious. A wide variety of food on their menus, from burgers to pies to sandwiches. The cakes and sweet treats are delicious and they have a freezer full of frozen foods you can purchase to take away with you. Just delicious. Even if you're not gluten free!
Just had lunch here. Great experience. The employees were friendly and the facility is very clean and neat. There seemed to be a lot of measures taken to ensure cleanliness. There was hand sanitizer near the trash cans, the plasticwear was in a dispenser so your hands would only touch your piece not the others, the busser was cleaning tables using sanitizer and clean towel shortly after guests left and the drink station was also neat and clean. The food was good too. I had the Turkey Artichoke sandwich. I have had the same thing other places and Hearthstone's was better than the others. I will definitely go back!
After looking long and hard for a delicious and beautiful brides cake, I decided to order a birthday cake for my niece. OMG! The cake was fresh, not frozen like the ones we have already tasted. The frosting was perfect, not overly sweet. The design is just what we have been looking for; something fresh and simplistic. Fresh flowers were assembled on top to add a special touch and it did. I recommend this to all who are looking for that special cake. You cannot beat the price or flavor! We have booked her for the wedding and plan to use Sweet Secrets Cake Shop for our up coming family gatherings! You should too!!
If I could respond with no stars I would as well. This review is intended to counter the false review previous to this one. We, at Sweet Secrets Cake Shop did not participate in the Living Social deal. We do not even sell cake by the slice. We do not leave notes on the door unless we have communicated prior with the visiting customer. We always know how fresh our cakes are because we bake them by hand. We take online reviews VERY seriously. We found this review highly outrageous. We have no idea how many negative false pretenses this has created for our potential new customers.
I have used Meemos bakery for a number of special occasions and just as a treat when driving by and have always had great service and great quality. Most recently I decided to make my daughters cupcakes for her birthday and they did not come out as special as I would have liked so I called Meemos early the morning of her party and was able to add cupcakes to the cookies I had already ordered at the last minute and they came out great! Thanks Kristin!
Sophisticated home decor furnishings in the heart of Alamo Heights (5924 Broadway, next to Bird Bakery). Stylish boutique with unique accents, table linens & fine furniture. Jon Hart & Nest candles too. Its beautiful inside with always something new that I want to take home. And they also make custom Orchid arrangements with these big beautiful orchids or smaller exotics are available.
I happened on this bakery one day while looking for an address near the bakery when I noticed the bakery. The baker's assistant (I presume) offered a small piece of a sweet delicacy and from that time on I've been hooked. There is no 12 step program to stop this addiction. Each time I try a new goody it is better than the last and I wonder how long my waistline can stand these delicacies.
I went to this place to buy some cookies in the late afternoon. When i went in there was only one person there and she only spoke Spanish. Come on, we are in America most of the population speaks English and only English. Luckily i remembered some of my Dora Explorer lessons or I would not of been able to make a purchase. Cookies were only so so.
