Last month my wife calls me while I'm out of town, which i tend to be a lot and says the central AC was on it's last leg according to some other A/C company and it would cost $$$ amount to replace. So, while still on the road, I went to the YELLOWPAGES, skipped through all the "colorful" adds and concentrated on the "Reviews". At that time Service First had 5 reviews all being 5 stars. Well, my first thought was...they must be putting in their own reviews, but the more I thought about I said, if I were doctoring up my own reviews I'd at least put in a 4 star or 3star here or there to make it more realistic. Long story short... I called and scheduled an inspection with Sergio and Jack on the Friday I returned, they looked at my Central AC and made the same determination as the other A/C company that it was time for a new one. I said ok, what's it going to cost me and they not only gave me 3 choices (brands with warranty info on each) but really took the time to educate me on the best unit (seer rating, tonage etc...) for my 1945 constructed home, which isn't always the cheapest. In the end, I paid about $500 more than the other A/C company, but Sergio, Jack along with the rest of the crew (total of 5) were at my house that next morning (Saturday) took out my 20yr old interior unit from a hall closet (1945 house) did some major reworking of the ducts/plentum and installed the new unit in our attic. We've got a new coat closet!!!! They also removed my old exterior condensor/fan and moved the new 5ton unit to a location I wanted about 5 feet away. They finished the job at midnight! Here's the "Short" of it...they've got all 5 star ratings because they're knowledgable honest and they deliver on what they say they will do.
This business has been around for quite a while and I'm happy to say their record as far as customer service and quality on the job is superb. I also know they are listed on Angie's List.

With a doubt, this company is the BEST A/C company in Texas. Last November 2008 my A/C unit stopped cooling. I called a local company who conducted an inspection and within 2 minutes stated I needed to replace the entire unit for $8,000! I contacted Service First for a second opinion. They came that same day and after a thorough diagnostic evaluation determined that a hard start kit could possibly restart the compressor. The part did indeed restart the compressor and for under $300 I was able to postpone buying a new unit. By the way, the first company did not even mention this as an option. This week, the compressor completely went out. I called Service First who came out within a few hours of my calling conducted another thorough assessment and determined the compressor had finally given out and was beyond repair. I decided to replace the unit and thought I would have to wait a few days to get it installed. The technicians Juan and Sergio contacted their warehouse who was about to closed and asked if someone could stay so they could pick up a new unit. In less than one hour they returned with the unit and about 2 1/2 hours later the installation was complete! I got an exceptional price and was amazed at the customer service I received. I would wholeheartedly would recommend this company to anyone without any reservations. The technicians were competent, honest, and fair and did not pressure me into making a decision about what needed to be done. I usually do not write reviews but I have rarely found this kind of customer service and felt compelled to share my experience with others.
On Monday I came home to 90 degrees in my house and 101 degrees outside. I immediately called Service First and Johnny told me he had someone in my area. This was at 7pm. At 8pm, David showed up at my door. What he found was not necessarily what I wanted to hear, the condenser had to be replaced, (we were hoping it would last through the end of summer) but he promised to have cold air blowing before he left. That is exactly what happened. David replaced the condenser and was at our home until 130am. When he called his boss to tell him what the problem was, his boss called someone else and had them open up the warehouse to be able to get the new condenser. He then called Johnny, who by the way, was at his son's football game with his family, and Johnny left the game to go pick it up and bring it over. I cannot tell you how much we appreciate what Service First did for us. I went into work the next day and right away started telling everyone what Service First did for us. In fact 2 of my co-workers think they are going to need A/C work done in the near future. I told them that if they didn't call Service First they were nuts! I have worked with several other A/C companies in the past and I can tell you that we have not received better service from any other company. Whoever came up with the companies name was right on. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You will always be "first" in our book.
Recently my AC stopped working so I called John Wayne to have it evaluated. I paid $30 for an estimate that I never received and my wife was given three or four different prices to fix the problem yet the actual problem was never clearly revealed. Even after speaking with there office I still did not have a clear picture of what would be required to fix it. Within half an hour of David Nelson, from Service First, arriving he quickly identified the problem and possible courses of action. Unknowing to him, John Wayne was the last company to service my AC and he revealed that the refrigerant was over filled. He identified this as a possible cause of the system not cooling well and the compressor locking up. His answers to my questions showed he was only there to fix the problem and not try and squeak out as much money as he could. The service he provided and the honest assessment of the problem is in my opinion top notch compared to what I experieinced with your competition. I assure you Service First will maintain all of my business in the future and I will recommend your company when any oppurtunity comes forth. David has secured you a customer for this and any future repairs that may be necessary for my AC. My daughter called this AC company for me because our ac went out in the hottest part of the summer July. I noticed that the house was hot and she called Service First Air Conditioning and Heating and they came out in the middle of the night . No other service would do that. I was under a home warranty contract and I wanted their opinion about my ac and they gave it to me. So then I had to call my home warranty people and they sent out their contractors and no one wanted to do the job. One company said it was the coil and the other company said it was the compressor. I was getting the run around. Service First was straight to the point of what it was. They called me everyday to check on me because they were concerned. I stayed in the hotel for a week until my home warranty wanted to do something. but they did nothing for me. So I canceled my home warranty and called Jack at Service First Air condition and Heating and they came out on a Saturday right away and I replaced the inside and outside unit. I will never call another company except for them. I can't tell you how good they are. They are the best ever!!!! Be careful what you hope for...you might get it. We needed rain and with that rain came lightning. I am not sure if our unit took a direct hit, but it hit somewhere close. My family and I came home late July 4th to a hot house and I waited for the air to kick on. When I went to check the thermostat to see how hot it was I noticed it was blanked. Went to check the fuse box, but nothing was tripped. That was pretty much the extent of my a/c expertise. I was heistant to call anyone due to the holiday, but I placed a call to Jack at Service First. He said that we could be there within the hour. WOW, was I happy, better yet, my two girls and wife were ecstatic. He arrived when promised, and quickly diagnosted the problem. Within about an hour he had the a/c running and we were on a way to a cool house. I received a call today, Monday, from my wife to say that Jack was at the house. I asked if there was something wrong, she said that she didn't know. Got home and he was still there. Jack just came by to make sure that everything was still working well, and even had time to recheck the unit again. Not enough words to say for the job well done and honesty that they gave me and my family. THANK YOU!
Dear Friends, I arrived home late on saturday, July 3rd, to an ai ounditioner that ws blowin air and nothing else. We opened every window i the house and sweate through the long, humid night. Sunday, July 4th, I thought there would be no hope of finding anyone able to help us until we were past the holiday. I have heard too many horror stories of people who have been abused because of their lack of knowledge in the heater/air conditioning field. I was absolutely delighted t find that your company would not only be able to help me, but Omar Rodriguez was out atour house within a couple hours of my phone call. We needed to find someone to fix our Air Conditioner and after making 6 calls to different companies our seventh call was to Service First. After hearing that either the other companies were backed up until next week and most wanted to charge an emergency fee because they were so busy they would be overloading their schedules. Service First was very helpful and said they could get someone to us within the hour. I was stuck at work which meant they had to work around my schedule and they were more than happy to do so. The poor guys had to actually wait 15 minutes for me to get there and did with no problem. When they found what was wrong they spent 2 hours working on the problem and were very nice about everything. I have to say that the first person to give me the good impression was a gentleman named Johnny. I have never called a company before that had someone that knew more about their company than he did which made me feel pretty confident in choosing them. Service First Mechanical did a "major" upgrade, removing an entire system and rebuilding the entire air intake and plenum. The system was cleaned and at that time, the owner showed me and talked to me about the Guardian Air product, due to the amount of mold that was found in the main duct. The owner explained to me what the mold was from, and that my system was not balanced correctly. After a complete cleaning and rebuild of the duct work, my system was put back in, balanced and the cold air began to flow! I was very happy with the service, and especially happy with quality of service and the genuine care that was shown toward me an my family. Everything that I was told about the system, the Guardian Air was all true. The owner even followed up with me a couple of weeks later. Anytime anyone asks about, or I overhear conversations about the need for Air Conditioning or Heating services, I am quick to recommend Service First. Since my initial issue I have called on them since and gotten the same high quality service. Make no mistake, the new kid on the block has something to prove!
This is by far the best a/c company I have ever done business with! We couldn't get anyone else out to our house at around 9pm at night, even companies that advertised 24/7 were not able to come out. However, when we called Service First at 10:01pm, we spoke to a very pleasant gentleman and he immediately said, no problem, I have Jamie available right now and I will send him out and have your a/c up and cooling tonight! Jamie immediately arrived within 30 minutes and had my a/c fixed within 20 minutes...wow! My husband stated Jamie was VERY knowledgeable and explained everything to my husband.
