I've had several tattoos done at Southern Thunder - all by Bones. I was nervous about my first, but he took TONS of time working with me to get things just right. He's super patient and very honest. Because he takes pride in his work, he wont plaster things to you that will look bad over time. .

I had been tattoo'd by many different artists when Jenn found me and since then I haven't let anyone else lay a needle to me. She's the best and I've been following her around for years! Her attitude is the best and her great personality flows into her work. No matter what we're working on we always share in a laugh or two. She's tattoo'd my wife, father, brother, sister-in-law, and many of my closest friends each of who has walked away happy. I recommend Southern Thunder and especially Jenn Cook for anyone looking for a relaxing atmosphere and a great tattoo!

I got my first tattoo at Southern Thunder by Mick back in 1998. My ex-wife had her tatts done by Bones as far back as 1994. Since then I've been having my work done by Jennifer Cook, and I've been nothing but pleased. My two oldest daughters have also had their tattoos done by Jennifer.
Jennifer's artwork is exceptional and goes beyond tattoos, which is probably why her tattoos are so incredible. Jennifer's easy-going style and demeanor make the whole experience more than just getting a tattoo, you feel like you've made a friend for life.
I can not recommend this shop, or Jennifer more. They're worth your time checking-out before you have anyone ink your skin.

My self and about 5 other friends of mine have been getting work done by Jason. He is the most amazing artist. And i am so upset that those ladys that were in the night i was there would make up such a lie about Jason. Those women were extremely rude to Jason. The whole time they cut down his ideas and yelled at him to do it her way several times and i sat back and watched how sweet and professional he delt with the situation of those rude ladys. I have known Jason for over 10 years and he is the sweetest soft hearted person i know. He is so amazing when it comes to being creative, and working very closely to his clients he cares so much about his work and his customers feedback. SO LADYS GO SPREAD YOUR LIES ELSE WERE. Jason Does have a portfolio as well, its so shocking that someone that was extremly rude to Jason would try and make themselves look great. All i can tell you and so can over 50+ people will say "" we love Jason and his amazing work, and those are all lies and i would only go to Jason........I JUST FIND IT SO FUNNY THE STORY SOMEONE WILL MAKE BECAUSE THEY WERE SO RUDE TO HIM. So trust me Jason Is the nicest person i have ever meet. trust me Jason doesn't have alot of clients because he is rude its because....HE IS BY FAR THE NICEST TATTOO ARTIST IN THE VALLEY. .....We love you Jason don't let liars bother you. You know your amazing and sweet.

My first experience was with Bones. He did a lotus on my upper right arm. I just recently had him do a dragon fly hovering above the lotus. It's so beautiful!!!! I've had lot's of compliments on them!!!
I had a tat that I wanted covered up and Jenn Cook was available to do it. We had talked about what I was wanting. I had a pink bunny that never looked good, done at another shop. I wanted a bear and I wonderful bear I got. She had one drawn out and I loved it. I've had two sessions with the cover up.
I love the work that Bones and Jenn do. They are great people, do fantastic jobs too!!!! It takes me 2.5 hours to drive to the shop, but it is well worth it for me. I""m a forever repeat customer!!!!

I am still in shock regarding our experience. Avoid JASON at all costs! No portfolio, only cell phone pictures. Communicated only through text- sent him a drawing of what we had in mind & he sent back copies of a carbon picture. He became very, very irritated when we asked for revisions. He actually drew one of the Kanji symbols (in which we researched extensively) incorrectly and was very defensive and argumentative when we told him. Asked for very specific colors and he did what he wanted rather than what was asked for. I now have a black kanji after I specifically and emphatically asked for brown. When we questioned him about the colors he became enraged and demanded we all get the F*** out of his area! He stated he would no longer be disrespected- that he was the artist and we had no right to question his work. He didn't give a rip that the art was permanent on our bodies, only that it had to be his way. And he screamed all those things at the top of his lungs- even threatening to call the police- all over questioning his work. We were actually afraid for our safety. He is beyond arrogant and unstable and has no concept customer service. The owner ""Bones"" response was ridiculous and he did nothing but say ""yeah, some people just don't mesh"". There are plenty of places you can go to get beautiful work and have your business valued and appreciated. SOUTHERN THUNDER IS NOT THAT PLACE!!
I found Southern Thunder Tattoo to be a refreshing blend of an old fashioned environment of commitment to the art with a modern feel for making customers feel valued and appreciated. It is clear that the fact that they have been there since 1992 is in no way an accident. My experience there was further complimented by the wonderfully creative artist, Jenn Cook. Who, after carefully listening to what I wanted, delivered an artistic interpretation that not only was tailored to my specifics, but was also imaginative, creative, and unique. The details are exquisite. Jenn Cook exceeded my expectations and not only will I return to her for more ink, I also recommend her to anyone and everyone who is looking for an outstanding tattoo artist who is committed to her art.

I have several tattoos, done by several artists in different states over a 23 year period. Never in my life have I been so pleased with the artwork I am getting at Southern Thunder. Jenn Cook is the artist who is working with me. Not only is she a talented- to the tune of winning awards for her original artwork -but she is also easy to work with. She listened to my ideas and did several drafts of concepts before I was satisfied. I have plans for a lot of work to be done and I will have Jenn do it for me. I can't imagine going anywhere else. AMAZING!
