        Daily life at a Mission Health Services care community includes all of the traditional services found in other nursing homes: 24-hour skilled nursing care, short-term rehabilitation including physical, occupational, speech, and restorative therapies, and the provision of care in all clinical practices. What isn't traditional, however, is how the services are delivered. Mission care communities offer excellent medical and nursing care and skilled care services in a relationship-rich environment. We believe that a traditional sterile environment with rigid institution based schedules that benefit staff does not promote healing or the physical and emotional wellness of Elders in our care. Being in comfortable surrounds, feeling welcomed and loved, having a sense of belonging and being empowered as the decision maker promotes autonomy and wellness. We call our nursing homes, "care communities" because we have formed a group of people that cares for one another, a community of belonging. As the first Eden Alternative Registered Homes in Utah, Mission care communities seek to root out the institutional practices that perpetuate the loneliness, helplessness, and boredom of most long term care settings. We do this through human and animal companionship, opportunities for Elders to care for other living things, and an environment rich in variety and spontaneity. This is a process of transformation. Our care communities continue to evolve to reflect more of a home and less of an institution.

        I have to say this place was highly recommended by a very sweet friend who's mother lives here as well as a sweet lady that came here from her apartment that I managed. Far sooner than I imagined and with a heavy heart my mother needed some rehab due to her balance and because highland care center was close to our family and was suggested to us,this is where we started and abruptly ended . Many staff members had no emotional or personal connection with little to no people skills... They gave us a week notice that she was as good as she was going to be and a discharge date coming within 7 days.........what were we going to do,send her home and find her on the floor again.......I called Emily from Hillside and explained our situation and I felt as though I was talking to family.... A great listener and immediately got the process started, letting my brother and I know they could help her more and give her more time rather than send her home knowing the end result...... I then went without notice with my brother to check it out..WOW! It was like walking into a happy place... Staff were sitting in the dining room eating with the residents, the food was excellent, and Carolee was amazing..She treated us like family and really took her time to reassure us it was a awesome place.... I was convinced just talking to Emily and Carolee over the phone however meeting them was a bonus.......They took care of everything and two days later mom was transported to Hillside. The staff in every Dept has a very sweet caring spirit... The head chef came in her room personally to see her likes and dislikes.....Thank you , We love our mom and have always known how proud she was and what a wonderful mother she has been for my brothers and I and are so appreciative for all levels of care and support she has been receiving,while being here..if you have to drive out of your way, trust me,its worth it .Marcela is wonderful in helping with the financial part.
