I bought my 1st Ruger 10/22 Takedown from this place. A guy names Mike helped me out. My wife and I did have to wait a little while before we can be helped, which is understandable because they were SWAMPED with customer. But when it was finally our turn I was given great service. I has the guy helping me bring out 2 different 10/22's because I couldn't make up my mind and he was totally okay with it and I got nothing but good vibes from this place. I think I found my new gun store. I just purchased some sights, a scope, and sling for my rifle and they are willing to install my own parts. 5 Stars, they deserve it
I had a great experience, I went to several different places and looked on the internet to researching what gun to get for my first time, every time I went into Doug;s I did not feel like just a number in line, they took the time to show me how to hold the gun and how it should feel in my hand. It was nice that they had an in house range and easy to rent a gun so I could get a feel how the different guns felt. I finally decided which one to get and they were very helpful in the purchase and it was the best price I had found around, I was also happy to help a local business. I highly recommend this company. They also offer different classes, in fact have already signed up for one and excited to learn more about my new gun.

They have quite a few guns...unfortunately they can not sell any to you because their FFL license lapsed or at least that is what they claim. They also claim Utah's best indoor range...I have been to four different ranges in Utah and this one was the absolute hands down worst. I would rather take my chances shooting in my own basement because at least there would be some ventilation if I open a window.

GLOCKANATOR: Sorry to read that ""the very first handgun I bought"" was such a bad experience. Somehow ""the first handgun"" and ""experience"" speak loudly to what may have been more closely related to your bad experience than the guys I know to be quite professional at DOUG'S. You got one thing right, GLOCK! Glock, however, for an inexperienced shooter could be problematic. You'll hear, ""Glock's don't have a safety""! NOT SO. I am very skeptical about ""ALL"" of the police officers ... trading in their GLOCKS for..superior.."" I have owned S&W, First ever duty weapon a Model 19 ""BUNTLINE SPECIAL"" I even carried a model 315, 3"" barrel .38 once. Today the only name on my sidearm is GLOCK. I'll post a pix of a target shot at DOUG'S for qualifying once. 2 Clips, rapid fire, Max range, 17 body cavity, 17 head shots W/a Crimson Trace Laser of course. Best sidearm I've ever owned. Kind advice here. Take shooting lessons from qualified instructors, compare firearms objectively, and apologize to Dave - he's a professional and has my respect.
I really wasn't impressed with the customer service. I walked into the place and stood at the counter for at least 5 mins before someone talked to me. I am a newby at purchasing guns and was asking some pretty basic questions. The counter help seemed to be pretty annoyed about the questions and me asking for comparisons between 3 different guns. I don't think i would buy a gun from them at all. Unless i was a female, then they give you the best possible service possible.
We went to Doug's Shooting Range for a Girl's Night. Most of us had been shooting at some point, and one of us had actually purchased a gum from Doug's. One of the guy's was completely awesome. He helped us pick which guns we wanted to rent and walked us through how to take out the magazine, reload, how to hold and aim. He was so patient with us, and we had a great time!!! For a first time shooting range experience I would definitely recommend them!

Wow! I will NEVER go into this place again. I went in looking for another handgun. Waited for 10 minutes to find this out. Had a question about a speedloader, another 15 minutes waiting. Then to top it off I had a purchase, ( a measly $100 but still) waited in line for another 20 minutes. The place was nasty. I hear all of these commercials on the radio and though I would give them a try. They should spend their money on better staff and cleaning the place up instead of ads on the radio. It felt like a nasty pawn shop with a similar attitude. There didn't seem to be much of a selection there either. I will gladly go somewhere else.

I recently purchased 2 weapons in 2 months, 1 from a local competitor in Midvale (Tactical .22 caliber rifle) and a handgun from Doug's. My experience with Doug's was far more superior than the other store. Its staff is helpful and knowledgeable. I've been to their store several times since I bought my gun and dealt with 4 staff members so far and I received consistent friendly and courteous service all 4 times. When I bought my gun, I had no idea what brand to get. Dave, the guy that sold me the gun took the time to show me a few choices and educated me and my son on the advantages and disadvantages of each weapon without being pressured whatsoever. I feel I made the best decision and couldn't be happier with my choice. I see a lot of people complain that the service at Doug's is very slow. Well, it's really not slow, they just care enough about each customer and ensure they answer all of their questions. Its the quality of service you get when you finally get your turn. If you are planning to go to Doug's, plan on spending at least 30 min to be in the store specially on a busy day. Trust me, it'll be worth your wait when you get your turn. They will give you the time you deserve no matter how knowledgeable or ignorant you are with guns. It's obvious that is their policy with customers.
They've master the craft on their products and they try to do the same with their customer service. That's a bit hard to find with retailers these days especially for a local business. Besides, they've only been around for 36 yrs. I think that's enough to trust that they know what they're doing.

Allot of times I play stupid to see if the sales man knows his stuff and if he's patient with a newb. There only 2 kids at the counter. The kid I bought my Glock 26 from was pretty helpful didn't treat me too much like newb but when I went in the other day to shoot the new gun at there range the other kid was bs'ing with a customer while this couple & I waited for literally 20 minutes at the register.
Over all got a decent deal on a new glock probably going to go back and get a .45

I have purchased three guns from them because of the expertise of the staff and the prices of there guns. You also get a couple of free range passes with each gun purchase. Yes they are hard to reach by phone and you do have to wait a bit in the store, but that's because they are doing something right. They have been in the process of remodeling and the range is a breath of fresh air. Seriously, the ventilation has been upgraded tremendously. The lighting is perfect now, and the target system now runs on a track on the ceiling eliminating the old bouncing cable system. New paint and carpet and concrete block dividers between ranges tops it all off. If you haven't been there for a while I highly recommend you go back and check it out.

I bought a glock 27 from these guys because they were 10 bucks cheaper than anyone else and they gave me a free trigger kit from 5.5lbs to 3.3lbs and put up with all my q's. they also let me try a used one on the range for free i only paid for ammo they were very helpful to me. i had been to SEVERAL other gun shops time and time again looking for this pistol with q's but no help compared to dougs quite like that.

I have bought guns from them in the past. Each time it was the same deal. Wait in line for ages. When you get helped, they often look down on you for your lack of knowledge. After my last purchase I decided I wouldn't buy from them again.
I have since visited many other gun shops in the Salt Lake area. There are better places out there. Better service, and you'll be treated with respect.

Waited for a month for the Glock 26 to be delivered. Acutally put some money down so they would call me. Rather than call, they continued to sell the stock to others. When I did call, they said they had plenty, but when asked why they didn't call, all of a sudden they didn't have any in stock. Bunch of liars. Now I'm trying to get my money back and it isn't exactly easy.
