If I could give this shop and artist 10 stars I literally would... New to the area and I was looking for an artist to do a tribute for my grandpa as well as covering up a bunch of nasty scars on my arm. Set an appointment with Steve after looking at the reviews on here and seeing his portfolio. I was really nervous to go to a new artist because I had been with mine for many years and previous artist before that always screwed me over or let me down. Anyway, the day of the appointment when I went in he was on time to the T, ready to go and everything was set up. The shop was clean and the staff was friendly. I could tell Steve had been tattooing for along time (which I found out it had been 16 years). He had a good set up, good quality inks and equipment, he was light handed, everything was wrapped and clean. I am a really picky person and when he was done I felt like he went above and beyond of what my expectations were! I will post a photo below so you can see what I am taking about. You can't even see the scars on my arm anymore! He was very reasonable on pricing especially for being a portrait artist. He gave me good after care instructions to take home (even tho I didn't need them it would be great for anyone going in for a first time tattoo). He guarantees his work which also great for any touch ups that may be needed. He also wrapped my arm in some nice thermo wrap, most artist use cheap cellophane. Which thermo wrap makes a huge difference. The tattoo is healing nicely, no scabs or rough spots anywhere. I was so impressed that I set my next appointment up already and probably won't ever go to another artist after this. If you are looking for a GOOD EXPERIENCED ARTIST go to Steve you won't be disappointed......
I have to say. This is the worst Tattoo experience I have ever had. I paid a 100 dollar deposit and waited 3 week for john to draw up my tattoo. After having to call more than 4 times and not get a response. I show up to my appointment right on time and my artist happens to be 20 minutes late to my appointment. After he comes in late, he tells me that it will only be a minute, next thing I know it has been 50 minutes. Now he is walking out and telling me that he can no longer keep his appointment. So I told him I needed my deposit back. He decided to tell me that he will not give me my deposit back. Straight scam artist. The tattoo he drew up was not even close to what I wanted and by the way, it looked like a 2 yr. old drew this within 5 minutes. I WARN YOU TO NEVER GO TO THIS SHOP, YOU MIGHT JUST GET YOU MONEY TAKEN AND TREATED LIKE NOTHING.
My wife and I chose this shop based on reviews and the level of professionalism that followed from the first phone call. I called a few times and no matter who answered they were always friendly and professional. Austen had me e-mail him ideas for the two tattoos and he had them ready to roll by the time we got to the shop over the weekend. He and Jared made my wife and I feel at ease. The whole atmosphere of the shop was relaxed but the shop was bustling which is a good sign. Jared did script on my wife's forearm which turned out awesome. He worked with her on a few ideas and drew up some pictures for her. After having a large tattoo done on my ribs I can say Austen is top notch. Not a drop of ink out of place and the lines are perfect. We will be going back for the next round for sure.
Simply the best in Utah!
After an incredibly disappointing, frustrating, and humiliating consultation at the alleged #1 tattoo facility in Utah (“Big Ego-Deluxe tattoo”), my wife and I took a stroll down the street to another very reputable facility, Anchor Tattoo. After being greeted by Buzz, we quickly realized this was the right place. These inarguably talented artist find their inspiration from the desires/vision of their patrons, not their own “artistic integrity” -which is critical when the discussion is about products of permanence. When discussing challenges of location and details of tattoos, they collectively -as a team- acknowledge them, give guidance and suggestions, and ultimately offer expert opinions/strategies that are unquestionably in the consumers best interest. Their work is superlative in every way. Their prices are affordable -without sacrifice to quality. And in the end, they have not only earned customers for life, but something so much more . . . advocates for life.
You will love your experience at Anchor Ink. This was my first tattoo, and it has inspired me to come back for more. Buzz, my completely amazing, skilled, professional artist, made this one of the best experiences of my life. He helped me feel calm, explained everything, and created exactly what I wanted. I trusted his expertise and experience. Definitely the place to go in SLC if you want a great experience. Thank you Buzz, and thank you Anchor Ink.
This shop is amazing! They made me feel very comfortable and relaxed, Buzz was the artist who did my tattoo and he was very patient with me, understanding and honest with my questions. i would absolutly recomend this shop to anyone who was looking for a tattoo and i will be going back to this shop for many years for all of my tattoo needs. :)
Walked in and explained what I wanted; Steve scheduled me an appt and upon arrival had what I asked for all ready sketched up. Very professional, made me feel comfortable and not rushed. Encouraged breaks in between if needed ( which I needed because I have a low pain threshold). Great experience definably will be sending friends/family to Anchor Ink. I
