When we moved in a few months ago, our studio apartment was nothing short of a biohazard. Black mold was growing in our bathtub, toilet, and kitchen sink. The ceiling leaked and had suffered an enormous amount of water damage that caused the paint to peel and turn brown. Several items from the previous tenant had not been removed and long-since expired food was sitting in the cabinets and fridge. I should also mention that we had been promised a full-sized fridge, but instead were provided with a mini that lacked a freezer and could only hold a few cans of soda. The kitchen floor was not wood, as it was said to be, but rather filthy, bubbled tiles. The walls were covered in heavily stained wall paper and, on top of this, none of the ceiling lights worked. The front door was about 3/4 of an inch too small for the door frame near the floor and let all of the heat/AC out. When we brought these issues up to our property manager, they were shrugged off and we were told to clean and repair the apartment ourselves. The only issue they would handle was replacing our lights. After conferring with several neighboring residents, we were informed that this was a common issue of which the apartments were not cleaned or maintained between tenants and would sit filthy for months. Needless to say, we broke out of our 12 month contract and moved out as quickly as we could.
Parkwood Apartments; a word of warning for anyone in Salisbury who thinks this is a good cheap option.1. Someone got shot in the complex across the street2.there have been meth labs3. People smoke pot in the hallways, leaving behind spit puddles, blunt guts and blunt wrappers. Perfect for your child to pick up and play with on your way in! 4. AC will break and flood and leave you hot in the summer months because they only have one maintenance man! Our kitchen light has been broken for 3 months.5. Got complaints? The leasing office hours are NEVER. they will not pick up. 6. When they do pick up, the belittle you and insult your intelligence.7. #wasteyourtime2017 they leave inspection notices and don't show up! You missed work for nothing!8. The people DOWNSTAIRS beat their kids so loud you can't sleep, they make stuff fall off your bookshelfs, you can hear your neighbors beside you throwing up loudly through the walls9. Prepare to be hung up on because Joe Bellia, their community manager is king of professionalism! He will even sarcastically insult you in his office! 10. When your last month comes and you're praising the turning of the time, they will charge you a full months rent instead of your prorated, listed on your lease amount. But 'you will get a check back with your security deposit or in 45 days' They will absolutely try to use paperwork to back themselves up. But apparently, they don't have it. They know, but can not prove it for some reason? Huh? Man...did I forget anything?
If I could give 0 stars I would. The only thing good about this apartment was the price..You get what you pay for though. Very run down apartments, paper thin walls, heating and cooling in that apartment was a joke, but you will pay sky high bills for trying to maintain a temperature. The management there was terrible, we were wrongly charged for multiple months, but only refunded for a couple.
