Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a leading cause of vision loss in people 60 years old and older. Nearly 20 years after completing her optometry degree, Dr. Caputo earned a Masters of Public Health (MPH) through Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California. During her MPH practicum at the Hoag Memorial Hospital, Newport Beach, CA, she participated in research within an underserved Latino community. Upon completion, she developed educational materials to inform and increase awareness of diabetic retinopathy. Her achievements awarded her the Delta Omega Honorary Society in Public Health. Oculoplastic surgeons are ophthalmologists who go through extended training to specialize in plastic and reconstructive surgery of the eye, eyelids, eyebrows, forehead, tear system, and overall orbital region. BOTOX® Cosmetic can relax the muscles to smooth the skin around your eyes for a more youthful appearance.
Eyelid Surgery
Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, is a relatively minor cosmetic procedure that removes excess skin and fatty tissue around the eyes. It corrects the appearance of “tired” or droopy eyelids, which can make a patient look much older than they are, and in some cases even impair their vision. Eyelid surgery is often all that is needed to rejuvenate a patient’s appearance, but some blepharoplasty patients complement the surgery with BOTOX® Cosmetic injections.
Plastic Surgery
Plastic surgeons train as general surgeons before completing their plastic surgery fellowship. During their plastic surgery training, they learn how to rejuvenate and reconstruct every area of the body, including the face, breasts, stomach, arms, legs, and more. A plastic surgeon can help patients achieve their desired look in any area of the body.
