If there was a zero this place was it. Horable service, bad food, they cleaned the grill into my husbands food and refused are request to talk to management. Just sucked I was horrified.

We stopped by Chang's after a very long day at the zoo. We were all very hungry and exhausted by the time we finally got to Salem and were glad to finally be getting some food, and also since we do not have a Mongolian Grill in our town (another 2 1/2 hour drive away) we were excited to eat there. My husband has Crohn's disease and after making his food and sitting down to eat it (and very much wanting to), he took one bite and was overcome with the nausea that is caused by his Crohn's disease. Those of you with Crohn's know that sometimes you will sit down to eat, after feeling famished, and just suddenly be unable to eat with the stomach cramps and nausea. The rest of our family had already finished eating (all only our first plate). We knew this was an all-you-can eat buffet, and that there is usually no to-go containers allowed. After having made his meal and just being able to take one bite we asked for an exception to be made, that we may be able to have a to-go container so that he could eat it later when hopefully he felt better. We were told no, that there were no containers, and that we could not use our own container, that their rules did not allow any food out. We were absolutely astonished that we were treated like this. My husband had to have a bowel re-section, five feet of intestine removed, and has severe Crohn's disease, but Chang's does not allow any exceptions to be made for this. I can't help but wonder if a person fighting cancer, sick from chemotherapy were to go in there and ask for their food to go because they were unable to even eat a bite after making it, how they would be treated. What if that person were a child? What about a pregnant mother sick with morning sickness? We offered to pay for whatever we had to just so we could take it home, but the answer was still no. They only offered to take the charge for one adult plate off the bill, and then promptly threw a full plate of food away that we would have gladly eaten. We paid anyway, but really wish that my husband was allowed to eat what he paid for. Instead of leaving Chang's satisfied, we left feeling humiliated, nauseous, and still hungry. My tip for Chang's is to allow some room in their rules for a bit of compassion for their customers. We will not step foot in that restaurant again.
