They charged me and didn't install the parts or do the labor until I asked for the parts they changed out. Icome to find out they didn't do the labor or install the parts but was more than happy to take my money. I would highly recommend you go to another shop to get work done. They are very unorganized and over charge for work you have to check after to make sure they actually did it. I'm surprised their still in business....thank god my wife didn't take my truck in. They would of charged us $1800 for $200 worth of work. My truck still has the same issues. I'm sure there is still work they didn't do all the work they were suppose to do. I won't know until the transmission is dropped again and yet more money put out for the same job. I checked with consumer
Affairs and these guys have a lot of complaints. Their shop supervisor is a thief and they still haven't refunded me for work i am pretty certain wasn't done.
My wife and I took our pickup there to have the transmission rebuilt. They kept their word on cost and time of completion. We had a gasket go out between the transmission and transfer case, we were over on the warranty as far as miles were concerned. But they covered it anyhow. I highly recommend them to anyone...

A1 transmission called the police on me on 10-16-15 because I wanted a refund for my van that They did NOT fix and when I asked him to show me my broken bearings that he took out to prove to me that my van was broken in the first place, he told me he threw them away, I said how can you throw them away I only drove two blocks away. do not take you car here they will scam you!!!! I took my van in a month ago to get it fixed, when I went to pick it up they said it was completely fixed no problems I paid with a credit card and drove a whole two blocks, turned around and brought it back because the problem I brought it in for was worse now than when I brought it to them, I told curly I was takening my money back he said please don't put the money back on the credit card I will fix the problem I promise it will sound great and be running perfect, I returned the van three different times with the same problem always on the same day, he never fixed the problem and when I asked for my money back he refused and called the police on me and said if I ever come back he will have me arrested for trespassing along with the mechanic I brought with me an the forth visit to prove that my car is worse now than when I brought it in to A1 mechanics. Ps. They also drove my can 168+ miles and when I asked curly why they drove my car that many miles he said they didn't, then I explained to him that I checked my odometer before I dropped it off and when I picked it up and I know he drove more than 168 miles, he then proceeded to stutter and say yes they did drive it that much. Everything that comes out of Curleys mouth is a lie!!
This company scams customers. I took my car in a week ago today and it still isn't fixed. He asked me to pay in advance on Friday so he can deposit it and my car would be done on Saturday morning. Imaging my surprise when I showed up Friday morning and the shop was locked up tight. I called and told him I was calling the police as I had a receipt I was paid in full. He returned and gave me my money back, The same money I paid him with in the same envelope, (Deposited on Friday??) So on Monday there was yet another excuse why it was not done. I am considering taking him to court and I have filed a complaint with the BBB. Curly is not the owner and I requested the owner caller me and he claims he told him. The owner will get notification from the bbb and the court if I decide to sue his scamming company.
My name is Dan Goff. I was buying a 97 Ford from a private owner. It had a transmision problem and I called this place. They sucked me in with a free tow to their shop. Told me several times they would have the transmission ready to report the issues and repairs needed that day that it would be about $700 to repair the T-converter. I paid the private owner the $350 he wanted based on Owner Curlys visual inspection that the car was in good condition. TWO DAYS later Curley called me saying that the car would cost $1800 to repair because of other transmission problems which he promised he would inform me of two days earier. Now I have paid the owner $350 for the vaule of the car (blue book was $1150. I have now paid $2250 for a car worth $1150. We did have some bad wheather and he was short repair employees for one day, but one week later the car was still not ready to pick up. Curly consistantly fabracatIed cost estimates, repair completion times all the while claiming he was giving me an $800.00 discount and such a great deal???. ha ha....BEWARE CONSUMER !!!
I had an emergency with my transmission while on the I-5 heading south towards southern California,I called A-1 transmission and the manager Curly, had a tow truck right out to get me and my Jaguar XJ8 ,with in an hours time from when we arrived with my vehicle, they found the problem and explained to me it was an electrical part,in portnd some 45 miles away,Curly made a phone call to a friend and his friend drove to Portland and picked up the part and delivered back, as soon as the part arrived the mechanic Danny installed it and also changed my transmission fluid and filter.I am very impressed with A-1 transmission and their crew, for showing dillegence and true professionalism. The total cost of repair was $487.32 including the tow ,repair labor ,parts, filter, fluid. Also the 90 mile round trip to Portland and back to get my part.
GREAT JOB... To Curly and the staff of A-1 Transmission in Salem Oregon
