PANTS ON FIREOrdered Fontina chop (Pork Chop) and menu clearly reads it comes with a vegetable and choice of side dish. The waiter on 3 occasions says it comes with couscous which is a pasta, not a vegetable and side and I asked that they honor the menu and ordered Broccoli as vegetable + side. Seems when I looked at my bill I was charged for a substitution. BTW the Fontina chop was very good, the deception was very bad.
Forever this has been the best for fresh shrimp dinners anywhere in St Pete. Family owned, and the owner regularly stops at tables and checks how things are. Wednesday night's all you can eat shrimp is awesome, not frozen like Red Lobster, but fresh shrimp. Thank you for being there year after year with great food at a great price.
We live in Tierra Verde and have eaten here a few times in the last year. I lived in Miami for 36 years…and I LOVE STONE CRABS!…in Miami all the restaurants we frequented served amazing stones… constantly delicious and fresh . So tonight at Billy's I asked the waiter if the stone crabs were fresh and explained that I know the difference that I was from Miami. He laughed and said we sell as many stone crabs as Joe’s in Miami…. That in its self should have given me the answer not to trust what he says…pretty dumb. Joe’s stone Crab in the #1 top-grossing restaurant in the USA. He also asked it I wanted them cold or hot…stone crabs are not suppose to be served hot…. Warm stone crabs have an iodine aftertaste…so no one ever serves them hot. I asked if they knew how to crack them and he said… well yea! Like Dah….So he serves the stone crabs the first thing I see it the they seem really wet. Then I got to eat it… the shell is not cracked in the right places.. you suppose to pull the claw apart and use one side (Inexperience people working there..its so easy to do it right)… The waiter takes them back and now they look all mashed up… they are filled with water and are mushy! (Which means that they're not fresh. What a rip off! Billy’s Stone Crabs should change the name of the place and stop serving lousy stone crab that have been frozen and defrosted several times!
FOOD WAS NASTY FOR THE PRICE UNDER COOK CHICKEN WAS NOT COOK TO TEMP AND I GOT SICK OFF THERE CLAM CHOWDER. VERY WATER DOWN YOU CAN SEE THEY ARE USING BOX MADE FOOD AND NOT FRESH INGREDIENTS BATHROOM SMELL BAD NO WATER PRESSURE IN THE BATHROOM I EILL MEVER EAT THERE AND I TOLD ALL MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY
Broiled combo was bland and food tasted frozen. Food came out too quick to have been cooked with any type of care. Samon had a layer of fat on the bottom half as thick as the entire Samon. I did not mention it to the server so I do not know what the response would have been. Manager walked by twice never asked how my meal was. Margarita was good.
I do not prefer fried seafood and contrary to the person they menu is not all fried and I have the crab stuffed grouper with a salad with home made blue cheese and a steak fry's which was 9.95 on the early menu and as usual the music and view was worth the drive
I have been going to this NEW place since it opened. If you like GREAT Music Entertainment and GOOD food then this is it. They have GREAT bartenders ( Bridget & Megan ). Plenty of Craft beers on tap. My favorite is Jai Alai. Also the food is a mix of southern fare with a Distinctively Elegant Flare. To put it simple its just a AWESOME place to be when not working!
The food was great, the service was great. I will be coming back.
Cold Bear and good fresh Oysters...Friendly place on Gandy, Great early Bird Specials,Good variety and You must have the Fried Oysters. Good Guy named Tyrone is a manager.
The Crab Shack on Gandy isn't fine dining, but it's some of the finest seafood you can get in the Tampa Bay area. Let's be clear that by "fine" I mean fresh and awesome. You're not going to find plates stacked high with microgreens or decorated with sauce. What you will find is amazing seafood spread (eat it with the saltines, so good), fresh blue crabs (give yourself at least an hour to go at these babies), and fresh, salty oysters. It's been the same for the past couple of decades and it's packed every weekend for a reason. Dress down and be ready to get messy if you want to work for your crab and shrimp.
