Mr. Pearlman represented me in violation of probation case recently. I was in jail for almost five months trying to fight the VOP with a public defender representing me. When the judge told me they wanted to give me five years in prison we reached out and hired Mr. Pearlman immediately. As soon as Mr. Pearlman was on the case he started doing the front work needed to get me out of the violation. It took around a week for him to get me back into the court room where he was able to get the violation completely dismissed. He accomplished more in a few days then my public defender was able to do in five months. The minute I met Mr. Pearlman I stopped worrying about what would happen in the court room. He was very confident and assured me that he would take care of this and that I had nothing to worry about. He was very kind and courteous when we spoke, he listened to what I had to say and afterwards he was very honest with what was going on. He is extremely sharp and upholds a high standard of professionalism. In my opinion he is a role model to what all lawyers should strive to be. When Lee was first on my case he was very easy to get a hold of and if he wasn't available he would get in contact with me in a short amount of time. He kept me informed on the case the entire time, if I had any questions he would answer them straight no beating around the bush like most lawyers do. He even took the time to follow up with me the night I was released from jail to see how I was doing and let me know if I had any questions or concerns to please contact him. I would highly recommend Mr. Pearlman to anybody who is in an unfortunate situation with this crazy legal system. He is absolutely someone you want to have fighting on your side. The fact is I wouldn't be free today if it wasn't for him.
After spending thousands of dollars on another attorney, who consequently failed to inform me of critical information the day I was scheduled to plead guilty to DUI, I decided to research alternative representation and postpone my plea. After extensive research, I contacted Mr. Lee Pearlman. As you can imagine, the idea of spending more money on legal representation was not something I was thrilled about, and quite frankly, I was not sure if it was a wise decision. That is, until I spoke with Lee. His approach was much different from my previous attorney, who essentially advised me to plead guilty. Although my previous attorney attempted to get the DUI reduced to reckless driving (offering 10 volunteered days in jail), he was unsuccessful and the state liked their chances at trial. Bottom line, I didn’t feel comfortable with my current attorney in a trial situation, so I hired Lee. Lee was very professional and receptive to my questions/concerns. As we prepared for trial, I realized I made the right decision. He demonstrated great knowledge of DUI law and experience with Pinellas County’s court system. He was honest and very forthcoming when informing me of potential outcomes. On the last business day before trial, the state contacted Lee and informed him that they did not want to take the case to trial and subsequently offered a reduction to a “wet” reckless driving. Given that my previous attorney was unsuccessful at reducing the DUI (even with offering 10 days in jail); I realized that Lee’s REPUTATION is what convinced the state to reduce the charge. As a result, I didn’t have to go to trail, no jail time, and no DUI conviction. I couldn’t have asked for a better outcome. I highly recommend Lee Pearlman for legal representation.
Lee Pearlman exceeded my expectations as an attorney. When I was charged with my DUI, I was scared, lost, and confused. I heard wonderful feedback about Lee Pearlman, so I immediately contacted him. During the initial visit, Lee took two hours of his time to discuss my case, BEFORE I EVEN HIRED HIM. He reviewed all possible charges and fees that I faced, as well as provided me with a checklist of tasks that I should complete immediately. I used this checklist as a guideline to make sure that all of my DUI classes, fees, etc. were paid and accommodated for as soon as possible. Since Lee provided me with such an excellent checklist, I was able to have everything completed before my court hearing. The judge was extremely impressed with how fast and efficient I got all of my tasks done, and the only person I could thank was Lee. Before hiring Lee, I researched several other attorneys and none of them took the time and effort that Lee did, to meet with me and fully discuss my case and what I had to look forward to in the future. That is when I knew Lee would be a great attorney for my case. Throughout my entire case, Lee answered my phone calls (regardless what time of day it was), responded to my emails in a time efficient manner, and contacted me on several occasions with updates on my case and to ensure that all my questions were answered. He is so incredibly caring and constantly looks out for my best interest (as well as all of his clients) and has remained consistent from the start. I am very happy that I chose Lee to represent me and I would recommend him to ANYONE. He is truly a great attorney and really cares about his clients, and of course about winning your case. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ATTORNEY!!!!
About a year ago I was potentially looking at a felony conviction for a mistake & misunderstanding I was involved in that occured one evening. Being a local businessman and contributing member of society and the community for years, I couldn't let this injustice happen and potentially tarnish my reputation that I have worked hard to build over the years. Immediately, I extensively and dilligently researched and interviewed several local criminal defense attorneys in the Tampabay area to find the best and brightest to represent me in my case to ensure that justice was done. Lee Pearlman's name kept coming up. After meeting with him and being referred to him through yet ANOTHER contact, I decided that Lee Pearlman was my man and he would represent me in my case. Lee took the time to be honest and forthright with me regarding the realities of my case. He advised me on the best way to handle the case, step by step and the steps to take in order to get the best possible outcome. He advised me of all scenarios - both best case and worst case - all the while assuring me of my likely positive outcome. He took the time to explain things to me and ALWAYS called me back. He never left me hanging, which other attorneys I've dealt with sometimes have a tendency to do and not get back to you on things. Needless to say there was no felony conviction and Lee got me a near best-case scenario outcome that I was VERY happy with and VERY thankful for. Justice was done in my case and Lee Pearlman made sure of it! If you're looking for the areas best sharp criminal defense attorney, Lee Pearlman is your man. I highly recommend him. He will take care of you and get the job done. Thanks Lee!
I hired Mr. Ellzey for my divorce and custody case. I knew he cared because when I explained how my husband was abusing the legal system and using lies to take my kids from me, he shared how he went through a similar situation that was the reason he went to law school. I almost cried when I realized how he was not just a slimy lawyer out to make a buck but that he was there to help me when other lawyers told me I was going to lose and wanted to take my money and give away my kids to a freak. He helped me to understand the uncaring legal process and made sure I make good decisions during a tough time. He stood up for me and my kids. Not only did my husband and his lawyers not get away with what they thought they were going to do to me. Howard listened to my endless drama then made me work to help him put together evidence he used at trial to show the judge what the truth really was after hearing a bunch of lies. My husband and his lawyer didn´t know what hit them because we had our story and our facts straight and could prove it. The judge did not like what my husband tried to do to me, so he found the tables turned and ended up on the losing end! The truth prevailed and my kids are now having a happy and normal life thanks to Howard´s caring attention.
Sept. 2015 DUI.Received a call from Pearlman, as I had received many calls and letters. After thinking it over and doing A lot of research I called Pearlman very late night, he answered, met the next day. Pearlman assured me from the beginning he would fight Hard till the end, which he did. Going above and beyond to assure, the charge reduced and 2 of them dismissed!Pearlman always returned my call if he didn't answer them(in court). updated constantly on case, put me at ease knowing I would have the best outcome.not only was I facing my 1stcriminal charge I had to bury my grandma(who raised me). Pearlman went above and beyond to deal w all legal matters on my behalf, while going through this difficult time.blessed, not only is extremely knowledgeable of criminal defense but a heart of gold and willing to fight till the end.Very professional and personable, Highly recommend Pearlman to Anyone facing criminal charges,as I received the best possible outcome I could hope for. Thanks Lee!
Words cannot even begin to describe how lucky I am to have had the pleasure of having Mr. Pearlman & Mr. Clark represent me these past two and a half years. They helped fight for my rights on a first degree felony charge against a persistent state prosecutor who had a personal vendetta against me. I knew from the first day I met Lee & Jeremy that they were the best defense attorneys in the Tampa Bay Area, if not the state of Florida. After two hung juries and countless hours of prepping and sleepless nights, the third jury verdict of NOT GUILTY bought my family and I to tears. If it wasn't for Lee Pearlman & Jeremy Clark, I have no idea where I would be today. I am a registered nurse and graduate next month to become a Nurse Practitioner. All because of Mr. Pearlman and Mr. Clark's heartfelt persistence to prove my innocent I will be able to do just that. I kept thinking maybe the third times the charm, when in reality finding Lee Pearlman and Jeremy Clark was the real charm.
I had the misfortune one evening, while walking my dog, of running into an extremely reckless police officer who decided to arrest me for absolutely no reason at all. I was charged with only one thing. Resisting arrest without violence (A class D misdemeanor) which of course begs the question “Arrest for what?” I am 51 years old with a clean record and a conceal carry permit. So I retained Mr. Pearlman. Despite our bad luck of getting a draconian judge who denied our motion to dismiss the case, it was nevertheless reduced to a civil infraction literally the day before the trial was to begin with no fines or court costs. All thanks to Lee. There are plenty of slimy lawyers out there as we all know. I assure you that Lee is not one of them. If you are smart and want the best results for a reasonable fee, hire Lee Pearlman. As you can clearly read for yourself from the many reviews, including mine, Lee is the man. Period.
Getting into a situation requiring a defense attorney is a stressful and terrifying experience, at least for me it was. Lee Pearlman was open and honest with me about my situation from the start. While he was great at assuring me about things that he had under control, he was also quick to point out things that could go badly, which I appreciated very much. His perspective and honesty helped me to believe in his assessments through all of the ups and downs of a long legal battle. Attorneys are not inexpensive. However, you absolutely get what you pay for. When I compare how Lee handled my case to others that had a similar situation that had either public defenders or cut-rate lawyers, I realized that it was an investment in my own future and one that I know paid off. In other words, Lee's fees have already paid for themselves in spades.
When I was in a rough spot and got my first criminal offence I was very worrisome about the effect it will have on my record--- and my bank account. I knew nothing about the legal system but when I met Daniel Scott Hartpence it seemed like anything I would ask he could answer, he was patient and thorough in his explanation of the situation I was in and how to get out of it. But there's something greater about Daniel he never made me feel scared always reassured me and comforted me and he was so confident in everything he said! When I as in a tight financially he gave a honest and fair deal when other attorneys were trying to get every cent out of me. He's A YOUNG AND CHARISMATIC attorney and just a nice person to be around. Through out the whole process never did I feel that he couldn't handle it! I totally recommend him!
The legal profession is vast, with each attorney having his or her specialties. Here are some of the most common attorneys individuals seek out when they require legal aid:
A criminal defense lawyer is probably the attorney the average person imagines. Criminal attorneys are the men and women who defend individuals accused of a crime. The lawyer may work pro bono - for the public good - so the accused is certain to have representation, even if he or she cannot afford an attorney.
Criminal lawyers are experts in the criminal justice system. They help their clients decide how to plead when first charged by the police and guide them through trial procedures. Defense lawyers must use every bit of their knowledge and resources to get their clients the fairest results from criminal proceedings.
If you are a small business owner or the head of a larger corporation, you may come into contact with a business lawyer. Many big companies keep a legal staff on payroll to deal with the daily operations of running and maintaining a large enterprise. Business lawyers may have more specific specialties like copyright law, product liability and mergers and acquisitions.
Business attorneys may focus their practices on certain industries. There are entertainment lawyers to guide artists through royalties and media contracts, while hospitals employ malpractice attorneys to protect doctors from aggressive litigation.
When you work for a company, you may find yourself in need of an employment lawyer - especially if the relationship between you and your employer sours. An employment attorney prevents people from losing their jobs due to unfair reasons. Workers' compensation lawyers help maintain safe employment conditions and ensure workers receive fair compensation after workplace injury or discrimination.
A personal finance attorney can protect and manage your investments and securities. You may use a finance lawyer to help you prepare your taxes, but you might be better off working with an accountant. A tax attorney is more commonly contacted after a business or individual runs into trouble with the IRS or state regulators.
Real Estate Lawyer
Your family may keep a lawyer on retainer to guide you through the major expenses that come up in life. When buying a home, you could work with a real estate lawyer to make sure you get the best deal and won't get taken advantage of by tricky mortgage agreements or unfair landlords. An estate attorney can help you plan for the worst by creating a will and preparing your finances for after your death.
A bankruptcy lawyer is essential to help you resolve your financial difficulties when they start to spin out of control. Certain attorneys help create strategies to bring you out of debt and speak to your creditors. A lawyer can advise you on which type of bankruptcy you should file for.
If you are suing someone or being sued, you need a civil lawyer. Civil attorneys - and criminal lawyers - are the legal representatives who argue on your behalf in a courtroom setting. Civil lawyers may represent you on matters of business, finance or a wide variety of other specialized needs.
One of the most common types of civil attorneys is a personal injury lawyer. When you're hurt by an outside party and you would like to hold them legally responsible, a personal injury attorney conducts litigation and negotiates settlements to compensate for your pain and suffering. Sometimes many wronged people will join together with a single civil lawyer or law office to form a class action lawsuit.
Most people will turn to a lawyer during a divorce to navigate the emotionally charged legal proceedings. A divorce attorney can assist in determining grounds for separation, division of property and custody of children.
Family attorneys deal with much more personal matters. If you're getting married, a family lawyer can help you prepare a prenuptial agreement or other family planning paperwork such as adoption or inheritance documents.
To ensure you find a competent attorney who won't abuse your trust or drain your finances, you have to make the proper inquiries. There are several questions you should ask, but the majority will fall under three general topics:
Training and Experience Questions
One of the best ways to determine quality is to examine an attorney's history. When you first step into a lawyer's office, you should check for the appropriate certifications and diplomas. You have to ask how long he or she has practiced law and request information that demonstrates the practice's success. Look for precise details such as percentage of cases settled out of court.
Once you inquire about the broad details of their legal career, you should ask questions about their experience that pertains to your specific issue. You should ask how many similar cases they have handled and if they have special skills or training that applies specifically to your needs. Lawyers can't mention clients by name, but you should ask for basic details about identical past cases.
You need to ask about every possible fee that will come up when working with an attorney. You should request a list of all costs in advance so you won't be surprised by additional expenses like overhead. Also determine exactly when you will start being billed. You want to inspect paperwork carefully. If the attorney charges you for his or her experience, you need to make sure he or she will perform tasks personally and not hand it off to an assistant.
Find out if the attorney has a flat fee or charges by the hour. Many civil lawyers work on contingency. Whatever the payment plan, make inquiries about how the lawyer plans to provide service for your money and what you can do if you start to feel unsatisfied with his or her performance.
Lawyer/Client Relationship Questions
When you hire a lawyer, you're agreeing to work with someone over a certain period of time. You need to ask questions about how the attorney will communicate with you and what responsibilities you hold in the relationship. The attorney should let you know the best channel for quick communication and you need to inform him or her when you want updates.
You should also ask questions to get to know the attorney as an individual in order to ensure this is a person you can trust. Ask about their legal philosophy and how he or she views the lawyer/client relationship. Great questions to start off with are ones that will make your life easier, such as how to keep fees down or what daily disruptions you should expect from a long legal battle. The more forthcoming the lawyer appears to be with individual needs, the better.
You may keep a lawyer on retainer or you could turn to an attorney during specific situations. Here are some common reasons people begin seeking legal representation or advice:
You Know Your Limitations
If you sign documents and you come across a word you don't recognize, you need assistance. You may need a third party to help you navigate important employment or real estate paperwork. It's essential you fully understand the terms of any legally binding documentation or activity you become a part of. If you are not an expert in a given field, you'll want to hire an attorney who is.
A lawyer may find legal implications or opportunities you might miss. If you find yourself in a civil or criminal matter, a proper attorney ensures you don't receive a harsh punishment for a small mistake.
You're Facing an Important Event/Decision
When making decisions critical to your financial stability or personal life, you may want a lawyer with expertise in your situation to make sure you do everything you can to arrive at the proper resolution. This is especially true when you become involved in a criminal case and your freedom is on the line.
It's not just a matter of legal knowledge; lawyer's have access to numerous resources you do not. They have staff ready to work around the clock and experts in a variety of fields to give your important issues the attention they deserve.
You Can't Be Impartial
During times when personal matters intersect with legal proceedings, you may need to have an advocate to prevent your emotions from getting in the way of level-headed thinking. For example, divorce lawyers can mediate a heated argument and help both partners get on with their lives.
Emotional investment could be subtle. You may want to have a lawyer look over an investment opportunity that looks too good to be true or investigate the merits of a possible civil suit when you feel wronged.
You're Out of Options
Many people turn to lawyers when they are in trouble. If you've been accused of a crime or are in a terrible financial situation, you can find an attorney who will work with what you have available to assist you as you deal with your problems.
Personal injury lawyers find solutions for people who can no longer work under their own power and bankruptcy attorneys prevent people from giving in to debt. If you find yourself in a situation where you can't find a solution, a lawyer may be able to offer the counsel you need.
When it comes time to choose a lawyer, you should start by searching close to home. While you probably don't want the conflict of interest that comes from being represented by a family member, friends and loved ones can recommend lawyers who served them well in the past. If you do have attorneys you are familiar with, ask who they believe would be best for you.
After going through personal references - especially from individuals who had similar needs - you should broaden your search through public information resources. You can call your area's attorney referral service or check legal organizations like Martindale-Hubbell. There are other resources available online. You should check websites for client reviews and other third-party forms of approval.
When you build a list of possible candidates, perform a background check on each one. See if you can find information on their history and success record. Once you find a possible lawyer, you should call to arrange a consultation so you can ask your important questions in person.
By performing the necessary research and taking every available precaution, you can narrow your search to the attorney most suited to your needs.
