Went there with my family a few weeks ago as my sister-in-law loves going there every time she comes to the cities. We had 2 tables combined with a total of 18 people as a family get-together like we would at any other restaurant. We decided to order one of their specials that feeds 10 people and then ordered our own separate dishes since the dishes are served in a good amount of food. The dishes were served quickly with atleast 4-5 servers bringing out the food however, half way through, the servers stopped telling us which dish was which and if it was part of the special or not. We got confused but continued to eat as the restaurant started getting busy. That was when the waitresses started ignoring us; perhaps they were expecting us to leave since the place was picking up and then the servers started speed walking, going around like (or what seemed like) chickens with their heads cut off. My brother ordered an oyster dish but didn't receive it so we had to ask for it again and then ended up waiting 25 minutes when everything else we had was already done. Needless to say, the food was ok. The service was poor. Probably should've went to the buffet line but the buffet line was empty and I heard it wasn't as good as the food served fresh. Either way, paying $300 for food that wasn't that great and half assed customer service isn't worth it. We, or "I" won't be going there again. Next time, we'll just spend $300 on groceries and have our own buffet at home.
I thought I would write a review about the food since the other review didn't mention it. Every time we have gone here the food is fabulous. I really recommend the general tso tofu it is so so so good!!!! It doesn't taste like tofu it tastes like chicken! It's a lot of food and it's family style so I recommend getting no more than three dishes for 4-5 people plus appetizer. I had a gift certificate but held on to it for almost three years and they were gracious enough to still take it, even though they said they were under new management. Whatevs, their food is still fantastic!
Good food , On some good days! This place is normally pretty good with the owners smiley face and attitude it is always nice to eat here. However , the food has its very distinct up and down taste depending when you go. On most days the food is fresh and very stellar and unmatched ..other days its pretty bad tasting. I would recommend this restaurant just as a basis to try..i wouldn't recommend it if you have high expectations of Chinese food more then others. Very nice owner and very nice service the food just needs to remain consistent with taste and freshness.
I went to this place because it was rated so highly, and was close to where I needed to be. While it does have good prices, and large portions, almost all the food was breaded and deep fried. There is limited choice of stuff which is not breaded, and I chose something which usually comes unbreaded at other restaurants, but it was breaded. The pieces of breaded chicken were small, which hid the fact that it was mostly breading. Service was slow to have an order taken, although things seem to happen faster for regular customers. I now have a gut ache.
This is seriously the best Chinese take-out place in the cities. Great quality and quantity for the price. The owners are super friendly and it's always a great idea to eat here. I've actually recommended this place to so many friends that I once walked in to order and spotted two friends in line in front of me! The only thing is that they don't have noodles on their menu that I am aware of. But what is a tiny flaw like that when compared to awesome food, pricing, and service? HIGHLY recommend you check it out. Like now. No, I really mean it.
Great Hot , Delicious , Fresh Food!I have had lunch here numerous times..mostly the lunch buffet. The food is always hot , delicious and fresh. I did however eat here recently after the buffet hours. The server... i believe served me the old buffet food from a hour ago instead of a fresh plate. If you want the great food i would highly suggest only the buffet or eating later dinner so it has to be made fresh. I do still recommend this place , very very good food. I am confident in saying this is probably the best in the area.
Ii enjoyed the food, very much. I found the decor,to be both cozy, and welcoming. The service was attentive, and the prices competitive. This would be an ideal place to take your date,on a Friday or Saturday night. I ordered the sweet&sour chicken, it was very tasty! There were good chunks of pineapple, tomatoes, and bell peppers, with chicken, in a sweet/sour sauce. It even came with white rice. A very solid meal!
I had never been to this place - I was driving around looking for an alterations shop and just got super hungry, but I'm seriously glad I did. I tried the black bean chicken and it was hands down the best thing I've ever eaten - and I'd never even heard of it before. I wish I could go there every day...actually I might try :)
A Chinese restaurant should stay a true Chinese restaurant. All the cooks in the restarant must be Chineses people. The food at Great Moon Buffet in Maplewood used to great but now it's not even good any more because there are added new menus and there are Mexican cooks in the kitchen.
I enjoyed the food I ordered from them. It was delivered to me fast and they took credit card orders over the phone. I had a shrimp/scallops dish with a lobster sauce and vegetables and also the potstickers. The food was very tasty and it arrived on time (within 30 minutes).
