I AM NOT A LIAR

Mr. Weimar,Thank you so much for your opinion. I am thankful you let everyone know that the work we did was done right. That in my mind is the most important part of the service industry. Let me clarify this story. We removed your engine off the sellers boat and stored it for you inside for at least two months. When you finally brought the boat to us ( I do recall it taking 6 months to get your 17foot not 14 foot boat from the manufacturer Weldbilt ) I probably did tell you it would only takes a couple of days from start to finish.. I was also told by you that you were working in north Georgia and you didn't know when you would be home. You were working for a company installing communication equipment. We took longer than you would have liked and my apologies for that. You never let on how time was a factor. The busy season had kicked in and we were and still are very busy. Also may I say I discounted the parts by 25% or $178 and the labor time was discounted by about 30%. I personally directed this job and I think it turned out great. Having to conceal steering and wiring inside a boat that was not designed for that application was challenging. Removing all the foam insulation was a task. locating the center console and getting it mounted right the first time took some thought. Installing the engine and related hardware is an everyday task for us. I went so far as to hook the lap top up to your engine and updating the software to assure you the best performance. Mr. Weimar,I am twice your age, college educated, grew up in this business, watched my parents struggle when times were tough, worked side by side with my work family both relatives and non relatives to try to make everyone's boating experience a pleasure. While father time is not on my side I will assure you your definition of a liar is not who I am or will ever be. Until you walk in a business owners shoes I would be more understanding of the real world. Oh and one more thing I believe your last name is not on the sign in front of the business you work for.Brett Shields566-3743

Overall
Very impressed with Shields Marina's customer service, professional services and pricing.

We have kept our Stingray boat @ Shields Marina for several years. In fact, when we first purchased our brand new boat, we discovered while out on the gulf, the engine had numerous issues - true to boat manufacturers rather than replacing the boat, they insisted on having us tow the boat to Pensacola, Florida for repairs. Each time (3 x) the mechanic ensured everything was fixed however, when we would go out on the water, the boat would stop running. Finally, someone referred us to Brett Shields @ Shields Marina. His employees took a look @ the boat and discovered there were metal shards that were negatively impacting the engine, etc. Each time the previous mechanics repaired/replaced the engine, the metal shards would cause damage. Shields repaired the boat and the engine has not given us any issues. We have always been pleased with Shields' service, integrity, pricing, etc. We recommend Shields to all our boating friends. It is the best marina in the area and they always go out of their way for their customers. We highly recommend Shields Marina.

Very Poor Service

I concur. HORRIBLE SERVICE compounded by LIES. Took my boat to to have a motor installed BEFORE the season started. Brought it to Shields in Simple stuff, just rig and hang an engine on a 14 aluminum boat. Brett told me it would take about 3 days or so. Boat was new so they had to add steering and cables etc. After day 5, I called and Brett told me another day or so since he was waiting on some parts. No big deal. Day 9 came, no call and no update. Then came story after story and one excuse turned into 10 and so on. Make a long story, it was two days shy of a month before I got my boat back.To their credit it was done right but 3 weeks later than I was told. I even asked Brett Shields (the owner) and he pretty much told me no worries.Nonsense. He ll tell you what you want to hear and basically do what he decides to and when he decides to. If I ran my business like this, I d be OUT OF BUSINESS.IF you need GREAT SERVICE in a TIMELY MANNER, AVOID Shields Marina. I hate LIARS and their game is all talk.My suggestion and do so with it as you choose, AVOID Shields Marina Service Department.CAVEAT EMPTOR

First Class Services

I've traveled all over Florida fishing and visited many different marinas along the way.

Shields Marina is a step above most other marinas and number one in the region.

The facilities are clean, they have a fully stocked ship store, boat ramps are in good shape, transient dockage and fuel are available; everything you would expect from a full-service marina is offered at Shields. And as a bonus the staff are friendly and extremely helpful.
