I had my left leg amputated above the knee on Feb. 21, 2018 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis due to a staph infection. Then on March 6, 2018, 13 days later, I had open heart - quadruple bi-pass surgery. Now come The Rehabilitation Institute of St. Louis (TRISL) part of my life-changing story.I was transfered to TRISL on March 16th - after my insurance company rejected the claim. The doctor from TRISL called my insurance company and conducted a peer-to-peer call, explaining that i had an amputation AND open heart surgery. I was approved. I spent two weeks at TRISL with a physical and an occupational therapist. Two sessions per day, morning and afternoon, a total of 4 or more hours per day.I can't say enough about the quality of training, education and preparedness to function, with my heart restriction, to be at home. The physical therapist even taught me how to get in and out of my car! The occupational therapist discussed what changes would need to be made at home for my own safety, which even included kitchen skills. The doctor who got my insurance approved, would not only visit me every day, but would stay to chat for a half-hour or more! We have been cooresponding some via email, and told me I'm thought of often. At the end of my stay, I sent both my therapist flowers with a personalized thank you, and my angel Doctor 18 long stem roses with a heart-felt note.Today, I had my last fitting and run-thru for my new microprocessor prosthetic leg with an hydraulic knee. I'll be going back to TRISL for gait training. This time, I'm not sick nor recovering. I am so looking forward to see the staff, who I feel are friends.I would recomend TRISL to anybody who wants to get back to living life as best as possible. Keep a positive attitude, listen and learn and follow their program for you and you'll make it.I would be glad to field any questions one might have about The Rehabilitation Institute of St. Louis.Neil Gale, Ph.D.800-736-1036DrGale@drgale.com
Dan is focused, technically excellent and made a big difference in helping me avoid surgery or medication. Cannot recommend him more highly.
Love this place! The therapists are so friendly, knowledgable and personable! They truly care about their patients! They helped me out after several surgeries and I was back to 100%, competing in no time! Highly recommend this company!
Just visited my aunt, I was expecting the worse considering the reviews. I was surprised the facility was clean and the staff that I talked to were professional. Look back at the reviews and they were old. Now waiting to see them work there magic with rehab.
Understaffed and very inconsistent with treatment. Some unprofessional staff. Tables are ripped up and they use many physical therapy assistants instead of actual physical therapists. Not what I needed or told them I wanted for my knee surgery therapy recovery. Wasted over 6 weeks of my time without progressing my knee surgery therapy. That was admitted by two of their staff members!!! Contacted the owner and all he would offer was changing me toThe St. Charles Rock Road location which fortunately, has good service unlike the Kirkwood location. The owner was unwilling to do anything else being that six weeks of my time was wasted. Will be telling my Doctor and attorney about this negative situation.
I went to pain management therapy here. It was in believable. Getting ready to start back after total left knee.
Five Star rating! I have been going here for neck and headache pain. What a great staff. Very caring too!
I've been going here for about 6+years. I enjoy going there once a month. Great massage to! Thank you for your services! Great place!
I have been to Physical therapy for different reasons for the past 30 years. These were visits in on all the continents and countries I lived in at the time. I can recommend Taylor Lumsden and his crew to anyone that is willing to listen and apply everything they try teach you. These are by far the most carrying, knowledgeable and hands on advanced professionals that you will encounter in this business. I have been visiting ever since they opened and there is no other place I will go.I am officially spoiled patient (customer) and you don't have enough starts in this rating system to rate their awesomeness. Highly recommended.
If you want your personal, embarrassing condition SOLD without your knowledge or approval to another company, who hopes to sell you equipment, all so the owner of this company can benefit financially off your condition, by all means, go there.
