I would not recommend doing business with Hertz. While the specific shop we went to wasn't great at all, it was mostly the company itself that has screwed us over. We were going to go on vacation, and I had a car ready to pick up on 12 p.m. on Saturday. Unfortunately, I was not informed that they CLOSE at 12. In fact, I actually asked if I should pick it up the Friday before, but they assured me that since I pre-paid for it, I'd be able to pick it up on Saturday. Nope. Also, why in the name of hell would a car rental place only be open for 3 hours a day? I'm pretty sure I saw 24-hours signs everywhere. Because that would make too much sense. Either way, I called to see if there was anything I could do, and after 30 minutes of speaking with a PR rep who could not speak any English, my best option was revealed to be renting a car at the airport, for an extra $400 than what I had already paid at Hertz, because I was "requesting one too late." Does "too late" mean almost a week before hand? Needless to say, we're taking another car, and I'm calling to get a refund immediately. This was absurd.

I am completely disappointed in Hertz, and I had previously purchased two cars from them and had many business rentals. I was scheduled to pick up a Toyota Avalon from Hertz Car Sales in St. Louis on November 12. I confirmed with Herz Car Sales home office in Oklahoma City the day before the test rental that the car was available before flying from Nashville to St. Louis. When I arrived in St. Louis I was told the car reservation had been cancelled that morning. On discussion with the local rental location, they had notified the home office that the car was not available for sale around November 1. The home office indicated that they had made a mistake, had told me it was available, and had not removed it from the website. Reasonably, I asked Hertz to refund the price of my airline ticket to fly to St. Louis and fly back because of this issue. They refused saying that they had a note that a different department had called and left a message at some point that the car was not available. My phone never showed that I received this. They would not stand behind the information provided from their home office. Because of this I will never buy or rent from Hertz again.
