We got a cab yesterday and my daughter left her purse in it. We went looking for the cab FOUND him and he had the purse safe and sound!!! Made our visit even better!! Thank you

compassionate driver

I used Harris Cab's disabled transportation service. I was having a difficult time trying to find a service last minute and they were very pleasant to work with. The girl who answered the phone and set up the pick up with the driver was so nice and called back with a confirmation, as she said that she would. The driver was both timely and so compassionate with my disabled father. I would definitely call them again.



I live less than 2 miles from ...

I live less than 2 miles from where I work. I called Harris dispatch at 2:15pm, and didn't have to be at work until 3pm. I assumed this would be plenty of time to travel less than 2 miles. The dispatcher working at this time, on 12/26/11, originally told me it would be 15 minutes from 2:15pm. I am patient, and realistic, and waited until 25 minutes had passed before I called Harris Cab dispatch again, to get an update. Instead of the dispatcher calling the driver for me, he gave out a driver's personal cell phone number and told me to call and check on it. SUPER ghetto! But, as I was starting to worry about getting to work on time, I decided to ignore the bad customer service of the dispatcher, and give the driver a call. A driver answered, and explained that he hadn't even started working yet, and dispatch had never contacted him. At this point, I had less than 10 minutes to get to work. I called dispatch back, he said all he could do was order another driver, and promised it would be 10 minutes. 20 minutes later, I called dispatch again, who must have caller ID, because he ignored all of my calls from there on. Calls would ring once or twice, and go to an automated message. THEY NEVER SHOWED UP! What they did not know, is that I work for a large hotel, who only uses Harris Cab services for our guests. I got to work, an hour late, and removed their number from every taxi list I could get my hands on. THEY SUCK! I hope that, in some way, by removing them as our preferred cab company, it affects the amount of business they are used to having!!!! They pissed me off enough, to be on a very focused mission to BRING THEM DOWN! It made me give a business star rating, to be able to post this.. there was no negative starts option, but the one star is much more than deserved for a worthless cab company and dispatcher.



Horrible service, rude driver....

Horrible service, rude driver. Drove well below the speed limit to drive up the cost of the trip. The driver tried to charge us more than what the cost was on the meter. A police officer had to step in when the driver got out of the cab and followed us into our hotel after I told him that he was being rude and dishonest. I would have rather walked the 20 miles home had I known what this cab service was like. The only reason I give them 1 star is becuase 0 stars isn't an option.

Inflated rates and questionable driver

My wife and I caught a Harris cab driven by Jerome Washington when we returned to St. Louis at the new Amtrak station. The driver didn't know the address or the street we were headed to, so I gave him a landmark about a block away (a major grocery store in a well-known neighborhood), which he said he knew. His driving was erratic (he drifted across lines and then snapped back), and as we neared the cross street, he announced that we would have to tell him when we were getting close because HE COULDN'T READ THE STREET SIGNS.

When we finally stopped, the meter read $13.90, but he told us to pay a flat $17 because of ""passenger rate,"" which was not indicated on his meter anywhere (though I know it's common). I'm not sure how he calculated a $3.10 extra passenger fee, but we paid it with no tip, glad to be safe at home.

The same trip (reverse route) to the Amtrak station a few days earlier had cost us $11.50 (INCLUDING the passenger fee) from Laclede Cab, and our driver had not only been much more competent, she was actually cordial and friendly.

Laclede Cab's advertised rates are significantly lower. As a bartender, I regularly called Laclede Cab to pickup customers, and the drivers were consistently friendly to both me and (sometimes rowdy) customers. I highly recommend Laclede Cab, and I discourage you from taking Harris Cab, if you have any alternative.
