Owner Carol was EXTREMELY rude when we arrived today to pay for our cake order that we had discussed with the designer 3 days prior and were told they would be happy to accommodate. Carol immediately told us the CUPCAKES we were ordering (Yes, cupcakes. We weren't asking for anything outrageous.) would not be accommodated for the baby shower we are having in 1 week. Simple order. Just a slight variation to the decoration they show in their book. Carol very abruptly stated her designer "didn't clear it" with her and they would not be fulfilling our request as promised. Not even an apology. We have spent untold amounts of money over the years at this bakery with elaborate cakes we have designed and they baked for us accordingly. These cakes were then featured in their books and ads. We had hoped to use them for our wedding planned next year but WILL NOT patronize them again. The disrespect and rudeness shown by the owner was unmatched. How she can continue with not only patrons, but employees alike, is a mystery.
I have always been their biggest promoter to anyone needing a bakery. I will now be sure to let everyone know of the deplorable treatment we received from non other than the owner, herself.

Ordered a 60th birthday cake in the shape of a guitar and it was absolutely perfect. I have shared pictures of it and everyone asks where I ordered it from.
It looked just like a spanish guitar and was even better than I could have hoped for. Thank you!

We moved just a few doors down from Federhoffers in 2008. We don't eat out often, but who could resist a real german bakery? We've generally enjoyed the treats we've tried, but the service has never been any more than so-so. Some things seem pricey (cookies), while others seem really cheap (Nepolians). For us, it's a nice treat- once in a while.

went to get some bakery stuff and wanted 1 glazed donut. didn't have any so I got 3 donut holes, I was charged 3.27 for them, Didn't noticed the charge untill I got home and looked at the receipt. So I called them and I was told, TOO BAD. And they hung up.
So as of today they have lost me...........and I won't recomend them either.

We have been going to Federhofer's for over 30 years. All of my kids and now Grandkids birthday and special ocassion cakes have come from there. It has been a family tradition. Tuesday first thing I called and ordered a cake. I wanted white dough, white icing. I was told it was too late to get the cake for the next day in white dough, but could have yellow or chocolate. Then while I was telling the lady what I wanted on the cake, she asked me to hold and she would double check on the white dough. She came back and said we could get white dough if we didn't need the cake till 3 or later. So our lunch celebration had to move to a late dinner celebration (which was fine, Gramma can't ever remember they are closed on Mondays) We changed our plans because of this cake. When we cut the cake, it was YELLOW DOUGH. I worked yesterday, so called this morning and spoke with the Manager and his reply was 'that can happen sometimes' No apology, no nothing. I have had it. I have stood in line almost an hour before many a holiday to pick up a cheesecake, etc, and like I said ALL our cakes for 30 years have come from there. We try to support the independent bakeries, butchers, mom&pop stores, but will NEVER order a cake from Fedehofer's again. And not because of the dough color, but because of the 'that can happen sometimes'' no apology response from a Manager. Obviously they are doing so well, they don't need our business anymore.

I used to live up the street from this little gem when I was in college. I still go there frequently. The ""icing on the cake"" so to speak is their German chocolate cake. There is none - in the world - better. Melt-in-your-mouth, and everything combines perfectly in everyway; nothing, not the icing, coconut, or anything overpowers the cake in a negative way. In fact, I might just pick one up this weekend...

This used to be one of my favorite bakeries. They stopped making chiffon cheesecake, but more importantly the customer service is just BAD. I went in with my little baby nephew and asked if I could buy one cookie for him (I was buying a lot of other items) and was told I could only buy 8. You don't get that ""neighborly"" feeling. You might as well be shopping at some chain store. The peanut coffee cake I bought was dry and stale tasting. I won't go back.

Their bakery buns bring sandwiches up a notch! They are the good old-fashioned sweet, egg-bread style.
And their gooey butter cake and other bakery items are quite good, too.
And, for those uninformed folks - Federhofer's is NOT in St. George. Check your maps people! The 63123 Zip code covers an extensive range.
And, frankly why someone would avoid a particular place just because of St. George is absolutely ludicrous. If you're afraid of being ticketed, you're probably going too fast anyway!
Not to mention that there is more than one road that will lead you to your destination!!

A traditional bakery that cares about what they do. I buy our bread cakes and deserts there. For about the best price as ...it's delicious. And for the record since I live very nearby, it is in Affton, and unless you decided to drive well out of your way you wouldn''t even drive through St George to get there. It's at Gravois and Weber. Try it! You won't be disappointed.

You can't beat the quality of this place. A traditional bakery that cares about what they do. We not only buy cakes/desserts there, but we buy our bread there as well. For abut the same price as what you'd get at the grocery store you can have quality bakery bread...it's delicious. And for the record since I live nearby, it is absolutely NOT in St George!!! It's in Affton, and unless you decided to drive well out of your way you wouldn''t even drive through St George to get there. It's at Gravois and Weber. Try it! You won't be disappointed.

Who in the world would rate a bakery due to a speed trap? I have a great idea... GO THE SPEED LIMIT. Oh, and P.S. Federhofer's is not in St. George.
Moving on; my Sister-in-law got my nephews birthday cake from Federhofer's for his party last weekend. The cake was the CUTEST!!! It was delicious too! I'm getting my girls birthday cake here in October. Can't wait to see what they can do with my theme and the cake that I want.

Don't let the reviewer, nunnya, scare you off. Why anyone would not go to Federhofer's, because they are located in St. George and the town is a notorious speedtrap, is beyond me. Per the U.S. Census Bureau, St. George is .2 square mile! Speedtrap or not, slowing down while driving through the postage stamp that is St. George is not too difficult. Great bakery. I wholeheartedly agree on the baklava raves. I live now in Chicago, and the baklava at Federhofer's is better than anything I can get here in Greektown.

This is a wonderful bakery with tasty treats and a friendly staff. They made a specially designed cake for my niece. It was beautiful and yummy! Everyone asked where it came from! If you decide not to go to this bakery based on it's location, you are nuts!!! Don't speed if you don't want a ticket!

Even though the name is decidedly German, as are many of the shops in this part of the city at the crossroads of S. Hampton, Gravois, and Laclede Station, this bakery has the best baklava I have ever had. Federhofer's Bakery usually offers 4 or 5 different flavors of this Greek pastry and all are delicious. The best is the Amaretto flavor though. Full of nuts, honey, flaky phyllo and tons of amaretto flavor, this is heavenly! Federhofer's also offers a huge selection of breads, donuts, pastries, and cakes. The staff is very friendly and service is quick! This is easy to find, just off Gravios and there is plenty of parking. Whenever I am visiting my sister in the city, I make at least one morning trip to Federhofers!
