They don't take reservations but it is worth the wait. I especially love the tutamare
Their grilled shrimp scampi is not on the menu, but you can still ask for it! The service is always impeccable & the food is outstanding!
Great salad! Always bring my out of town guests here for a flavor of the Hill.
Simply the best Italian food in Saint Louis. Cunetto's has the best lasagna I have ever had, and coupled with some fine wine, it makes you want to stick around and tell stories all night!
Bravo to Frank and the rest of the staff on an overalll great experience!
Prices are mind-blowingly low for such high quality food and service. Decor is dated, but I don't go there to marvel at the carpeting. Om nom nom!! :) :)

Provided by CitysearchI have been going to this place since I was a kid, and the food has always been great. The wait for seating is a bit long, but the food never disappoints.

Provided by CitysearchIt has been 5 or 6 years since our experience with Cunnetto's and we had the same degrading service that obviously still prevails. We definately felt like the ""common folk"" on are visit, beginning with the no greeting the moment we walked in the door and an unreasonably tiring, long wait. Guess Cunneto's has such a great following they do not need new customers. We thought we would give them a try after all this time has passed but after reading the other reviews, we will not bother wasting our precious time, energy or money.

Provided by CitysearchMy Husband and I really enjoyed dining at Cunetto's. That was up to about 5 years ago. It was a very unpleasant experience. Granted, it was a very busy night, however when we asked for some bread, the waitress went over to another table where a couple had just left, took the bread off of their table and placed it on ours. I must say I was ""shocked"". We definitely requested some ""fresh"" bread and the waitress acted insulted. When we left, we spoke with the Manager and all he could say in rather a curt voice is ""what do you want me to do about it""? Seriously....that is all he could say. I think he thought we were expecting a free meal. We told him that we would never be back and we have held true to our word. I know that there are plenty of other good Italian places to eat, however we are thinking about giving this place one more chance. What do you think????

Provided by CitysearchMy son and I flew to St. Louis with a friend. We live in Orange County California and own an Italian restaurant. I am Sicilian and Greek and my husband is Italian. We entered a busy dining area with a very friendly staff. For appetizer we ordered the Toasted Ravioli: Best I've had, also the Shrimp Diavolo and the eggplant parm: all great. For dinner we all ordered the eggplant parm dinner because we didn't get enough from the appetizer. This dish could have fed the three of us. Dinner salad was awesome. My 14 year old son actually ordered another one. The coffee was good the Italian waitress was a delight. We had a lot of leftovers and no fridge in the hotel. We left them in the trunk and due to the fact it was snowing, it was frozen by morning and ready to reheat. I have to have another surgery in October and can't wait to eat at Cunetto's again! Hats off to St. Louis!!! The people are warm and wonderful.

Provided by CitysearchThere is nothing particularly skillful about preparing meals that are over cooked, over sauced, over cheesed, and over processed. And there is nothing particularly pleasing about gargantuan portions of food that, if fully consumed, would accelerate ones own demise.

Provided by CitysearchThe first contact with the waitress was her coming up to me saying ""What do you want?"". There was no greeting and I still don't know her name. I ordered the spaghetti primavera and got a bowl full of mushy broccoli, cauliflower, asparagus and tomatoes. The brocolli, cauliflower and asparagus had clearly been frozen and just cooked to death. The pasta was cooked right at least. Lean Cuisine ""Broccoli Alfredo"" is better. When the waitress asked how it was, I told it her was ""eh, okay"". She then walked away. Later, the maitre'd asked how it was and I told him the same. He was actually concerned and asked why. He offered to remake it, but by that time I was a bit nauseated from the consistency of it and didn't see the point. All in all, poor service, horrible food. What kind of Italian restaurant serves butter with bread and not olive oil? One of the worst dining experences I have had in years. The sad part is that one of my friends recommended it, though he hadn't been in about 8 years. It has obviously gone downhill.

Provided by CitysearchThe common folks will have to wait even if you get there before the opening. We were what appeared to be the 5th on the list, but still waited 3 hours. Not sure if there was a second ""hidden"" list. At least, we were told we were at the top of the list after asking 4 times. The restaurant was loud, smokey, and uninviting. The host and servers were rude and we were rushed once we were seated AFTER the 3 hour wait. I could not and would not eat because I was so upset about the BS line we were being feed during the 3 hour wait. Suggest going to a Fast Food restaurant. I had much the same experience without the 3 hour wait. I will never go back to Cunnetto's.

Provided by CitysearchI took my son and daughter there as a going away meal before they returned to college. My son had Tortellni Bolognese and I had the Spaghetti....excellent, however, my daughter ordered the Tuto Mare and she did not like it at all because it is made with a broth base rather than a cream base as she has had before. She ate two bites and we informed the waitress that she did not think the dish was up to par and lacked flavor. The waitress offered no remedy and still charged us for the dish. I know it is a personal taste thing, but I believe that there could have been a little more effort put into pleasing customers. After this the waitress became very rude, basically slammed the bill on our table and said ""thanks"" in a very curt manner. We will go back but because the food is outstanding, hopefully we will not encounter the same waitress.
WONDERFUL FOOD! Great atmosphere and staff! Reasonably priced.

Provided by CitysearchCharming, non-slick, old-timey atmosphere with great food. I ate there twice with a woman I was secretly in love with. Nothing ever came of it, but I still remember the linguine with clams!

Provided by CitysearchThis place is a tourist trap. You get a ton of food for a super cheap price but it is still probably the worst Italian food on the hill. Don't go before 9 or you will wait forever to be seated. The bar resembles an old amvets post or elks lodge. The food is average but the service is poor and the restaraunt needs to be remodeled.
My husband and I are from Texas and on our visit to STL the locals suggested Cunetto's. The food was wonderful and well worth the wait. Obviously the STL Lady was on crack when she wrote her review. I agree with the other reviewers that this is one of the best Italian restaurants.

Provided by CitysearchI am from out of town and ended up going here twice. Large portions and VERY reasonable prices. They are cheaper than chain restaurants and the food is soooo much better. My pasta dish was only $8.25 and I had plenty for lunch the next day. We got there on weeknights at around 5pm and the restaurant was already filling up. It looked like the wait started at around 6pm, so I would try to get there a little earlier if you can.

Provided by CitysearchI've been going to Cunetto House of Pasta for years and the place is great. If you want to impress an out-of-towner this is the place to take them to (and when they come back they'll always want to visit again).

- Since 1972, the Cunetto family has consistently provided great food at great prices. With a spacious, nice, but casual atmosphere for diners, and a prime location right "on the Hill" and with plenty of parking, Cunetto's has become a place for both locals and tourists looking for the quintessential Italian meal! So come in and find out why Cunetto House of Pasta tops the Best Restaurants polls year after year. Anyone visiting St. Louis must try Cunetto's and make it as much of a destination as the Gateway Arch or the Zoo. It may be the highlight of the trip! Vince and Joe Cunetto were always cooking in the back room of their neighborhood pharmacy. The three legged, two burner countertop stove had to be held up with a coffee cup, but it did the job. Whether it was a big pot of soup or an old family pasta recipe, friends, local doctors, and drugs salesmen would gather in the small back office for a delicious meal. In 1972, the Cunetto brothers sold the pharmacy. Determined to stay on "The Hill" in the historic Italian section of St. Louis, they opened Cunetto House of Pasta in October 1974. Cunetto's, as it is most commonly called, still remains in the same location and continues to serve the same delicious traditional Italian cuisine since the very beginning. Over the years, Cunetto's has become a St. Louis tradition. Many families celebrate special occasions at Cunetto's or make Cunetto House of Pasta their regular Friday night restaurant.
