ST.louis Missouri worst tattoo shop ever.I got angel wing tattoos on my arm and their totally different and the halo above doesn't look right .I told them over and over not to make my tattoos not so small and skinny.None of them listened to me .It went out one ear through another. Cheap is what u pay for .Their not artists what so ever bad jobs and they dont listen to the clients what so ever if I could rate it 0 stars actually .very unprofessional place .People that talk highly bout black pearl tattoo shop is completely insane but hey everyone finds out things for themselves
I have 2 tattoos by blackpearl...unless you like going back every 6 months to get your tattoo touched up then black pearl is for you..no one there can draw they have you email them the picture of what you want tatted on you and they trace it and ends up looking like crap none of there lines are straight its unknown ppl there just watching you get a tattoo they are unorganized The bald headed wife is rude her tattoos look like crap also and her husband did them "BigRo" he needs to quit doing tattoos and help his kids learn how to rap No Hate Just All Facts and they dont even deserve one star
Mr Page is nothing more than a hack that tattoos kids without parental consent. He is a former cop that still thinks he is above the LAW!!! I am taking him to court to shut him and his kind down... I know there are other parents out there that feel as if they cannot do anything now that their child has been tattooed, let me tell you there is.. take the time to file the police report, followed up with a report to the dept of professional registration and the Atty General. Don't let him get away with it...! The bargain price of his tattoos will cost THOUSANDS to get removed... the star rating is only because you have to in order to post...

There's no better place in the STL/Metro area to get a QUALITY TATOO at a REASONABLE PRICE and it's SAFE (everything is sterile)!
If I were to rate the work alone (tattoos, piercings) I would give the shop a 10, 100, 1000, etc.!
If I were to rate Roland on people skills, again I'd give him 10, 100, 1000, there's not enough I can say about his personality as he can calm the scariest of people, mainly me (never thought I'd make it through my 1st tattoo and now I have 3 and it's all because of Roland's personality and skills.)
He has a large selection of tattoos, will use your design or design for you.
I won't go anywhere else! After my 1st tattoo some 12 years ago, the majority of my family and friends all go to Roland (Godfamilies-maybe 10-20 people, Godmother-70yr old for her b/d). Approx. 2 yrs ago we went as a group (made an appt) to have tattoos done for 5 people to celebrate children
I'd give this dump less the one star. I went with my niece. I was underage, 17, they scanned my id and that was it they tattooed me. I wanted a small bird on the back of my neck. Cr*ppy tattoo. It LOOKS NOTHING LIKE THE STENCIL. Ghetto tattoo shop! One wing is curvy like its supposed to be, the other is straight, with straight lines, anddd, he skipped a spot and part of the wing is missing. Definatley a mistake. and then theres a bunch of random a$$ people standing around you while your getting a tattoo, just hangin there all in the way. DONT GO TO THIS CR*P HOLE.

I, lauren tell, am currently under apprentice status at Black Pearl Gallery. A 16 yr respected company that also operates a not-for-profit (runway2empowerment). I am efficiently trained to conduct all aspects of piercing. Its unfortunate that my ex had informed me that he posted accusations to tarnish my career.

The piecer that works their named Lauren Tell is not a certified piercer and the shop has been reported to the st. louis county health department.
I have no relation to your ex I'm from Edwardsville IL, my daughter went there to get a piercing from a lauren tell a week later she got a staph infection from her lip piercing. I contacted the Health Department already I would advise either you start firing my only other option was to sue the shop for this unfortunate situation. I will not sue unless the problem at question is fixed.

I went there on Saturday February 12 the place was hella packed and they started turning people away so I decided to go the next day because I wanted to get a tattoo for my birthday which is on Valentines Day. There was a kid there asking people what they wanted so I told him a tattoo of mickey mouse on my lower back. The kid looked to be around 15 years old. I waited there about an hour and a half before asking for my money back. It was a chubby cute guy there and he was like naw baby girl we goin make sure you get a tatt for your birthday and about ten minutes later I wuz gettin my tatt so all in all I think the place is great I got a tatt there before and I also got my tongue pierced there everybody I know go there it also have reasonable prices unlike other places that charge you $45 dollars for just a name.

I guess if it was your first time ever going here u would be a little confused it usually a lot of people hang out there, but i have 6 tattoos and yes Roland did them all except 1. if your getting a small tattoo then your wait time is not usually long but when i got my tattoo on my lower back i wished i had went in earilier and came back because of the details i waited the for about 3 hours but that person no longer works there. there is a lot going on there but if you to have fun while gettin a tattoo then Black Pearl is a great place to go!

I got a nose piercing here, and it was amazing! Great service, no appointment needed, sterile equipment, and super cheap (which doesn't mean that the quality is bad). We also didn't have to wait at all. I would highly recommend this place for piercings.

I have recently been to black pearl and i have to say they are the cheapest for tongue piercings, but we had a long wait. There was a little girl constanlty walking around and people were coming in like they lived there. Only 2 tattoo artist were on staff and one person for piercings. She was very precise not to hit my veins so i told her to put it a little to the side since i have alot of veins under my tongue. She did exactly what i asked. They used sterile needles and new gloves. I wished she would have given me some mouhwash becuase my mouth started to bleed, but she put it in the same hole i had a piercing in previoulsy.
I had a good exerience. It was like a family business. I felt welcomed and had fun while I was there. What I liked best is that I didn't have to pay an outrageous price for my tattoo. I would recommend anyone to go there. They were clean and I'm not sure who would say bad things about them. Except if they didn't get a discount they were hoping to get.

this place has the most bussiness i ever known soo all the haters just keep hating you motivate them to keep they bussiness running.
And i dont know where you get the idea that black pearl is nasty. because to me they have the best runned bussiness ever. i have three tattoos and Roland did every last one of them. i think people just like to bring others down because they have nothing else better to do. but by one person saying something like that doesn't stop there bussiness.....if that was the cases you should have went to urban expressions and got your eyebrows pierce

I went here to get my eyebrow pierced. There were tons of people just wandering around, I think many people live in this building. It was hard to tell who worked there. I look very young, and instead of asking for actual ID, they just asked if I had any tattoos. Showing them my tattoos on my legs was proof enough for them. (I look about 15. sketchy sketchy!) There was no paperwork to fill out, no release, nothing. They didn't even know my name. When I walked in, the girl asked what I was there for, and I said eyebrow piercing. She told me it would be $25. I gave her my money, and she walked away, giving me no information. After standing there for about 15 minutes, confused, someone finally called me into the back. I was about ready to bolt, but she DID put on new, clean gloves and the needle was from a sealed package. She did not, however, draw the dots on my eye so I could see where it was going to go, like she should have. There was also no hardware choice - usually you should get to pick the color or something! The other girl who was supposed to be working the front was wandering around on her cell phone talking about how she wanted to f**k this guy, and she hoped his girl friend would get too wasted to notice... it was really classy (not).
Since a piercing can come out and isn't permanent, I decided to risk it. It looks okay, but definitely could have been way better. There is no way in HELL I would get a tattoo here.
Also, do you notice all the reviews mention roland by name? I think he is writing those himself.

For all those saying its a dirty shop and all that stuff, why would you stay and get a tat there after thinking its dirty? So any flaw is your own fault. The shop used to be a hair salon, but they have turned it around nicely. I have gotten 7 of my 13 tattoos from them, and I ONLY let Roland touch me, I can't speak for any other artist there. And I absolutely love Tracey(his wife). They are very sanitary, at least Roland and Tracey are, as I said I can't speak for anyone else. Roland has done wonderful work on all my tats, and is such a sweetheart and pleasure to work with. Stop hating, cuz if you had any ill feelings when you walked in you should have walked your self right back out the door. But Roland you have no reason to worry, there are more pleased people than there are haters!

For the person that said that it was dirty and in the back of a hair salon. Yes the place used to be a hair salon, but if you have been in there sometime within the last few months they are remodeling it. There can be a wait, but it is work the wait. The only reason they don't charge the same prices and the ""other guys"" is because they aren't over priced. People are so used to paying for what they want. If someone has sent you to a tattoo shop are you really going to question the abilities of an artist or are you going to pay whatever they tell you. Everyone that was there was really nice to both me and my husband. We both got tattooes before going to Iraq. I have a Koi that covers most of my right upper arm. I flew out the next day. It looks great. I don't even need to go back for touch ups. Before you decied where you want to go, don't let one persons opinion stop you from going to see Rolland or his wife (she is the one that does the piercings) I will be going back after I leave Iraq,
