I looked around for months for someone to work on a sleeve for me based on a piece of art I brought back from southern China a number of years ago.
When I started talking to Omar he got what I wanted right away and everything just clicked. He liked the art and came across as genuinely interested in doing the work. I had found other artists who said they'd do the work, but none of them showed any real spark that the art appealed to them and that they would interpret what I wanted.
Omar justifyably has a great reputation and it does take time to get an appointment with him. I don't live in St. Louis so that made it even harder for both of us to find the time to do it. I had waited quite a while to get this done so waiting a few months until our schedules sync'd was fine.
The outcome was about as perfect as you could ask for. Looking forward to more sessions to turn that art into a full upper arm sleeve to frame the great looking ink he gave me. I just hope it doesn't take us another four months to make our schedules work!

I loved going to Allstar. I had an appointment with Saint Louis Tattoo company and called the day before to see if I could move the time up an hour but they told me the guy quit, so I decided to try somewhere else.
The reviews looked great so I decided to do a walk in on a Friday afternoon. This is my first tattoo and my mom was taking me as a birthday present. The people were all really nice and friendly and very helpful.
I had Omar and he was great! He made sure he drew exactly what I wanted and talked to me to make sure it was all right. He was awesome with making sure I was doing ok during the whole thing since it was my first tattoo and it was on my foot. The color and design are beautiful and really professional. Reasonable price and clean, fun atmosphere for anyone.
I got a simple tattoo of a snowflake 3 years ago. Was drug to Allstar on my lunch break by a friend who was tired of hearing me bellyache about wanting a tattoo. Dustin drew one up and was able to tattoo me within the hour.! It's true what they say... once you have one tatt, you want more!!! I was ready for #2 a week later... and again, I just got re-inspired b/c I ran into a very cute guy who had one done there. Said it took up half of his back and took 10 hours to complete! It's supposed to be in their profile ... can't wait to go in and see it... and while I'm there, I may as well get my 2nd one. It'll be a more intricate snowflake on top of my foot!

I brought in a simple cherry blossom tattoo, and was quoted $60 for it. After waiting an hour, Pepto came out and looked at the picture of the tat I wanted, then drew the outline. I told him where I wanted it, and the angle. Then sat in the chair and he got to work. The colors were supposed to be green, purple, yellow, and white. I came out of it with a completely pink flower, and a yellow and orange center. The only thing right was the green leaves. The angle was also different. When it was almost healed I called the shop to ask to get it redone. They said that they will not redo tats that had already healed, and that Pepto would be able to make the final decision after seeing it. And Pepto would have to be the one to redo it, but it probably have to be fully redone and paid for again. After he messed it up, I don't want him anywhere near me. I am so mad that he messed up something that would be on my body for the rest of my life. I will never go back to Allstar, and I hope none of you ever go to Pepto.

My sis and I went in as tattoo virgins, I' m not sure if she would do it again, but I even live out of town and would come in to get my next with Jason! We were greeted by Molly at the front counter, who was very cool, there was great music and comfy seats for those waiting. We were introduced to Jason, he was unable to do my tattoo that night, which was a drag, but did do my sister. I made an appt., left my drawing (a peacock) there for Jason to add his artistic touch and we headed back a few days later. I was happy that he did not change it, accept to enlarge the drawing for more detail and change some of the colors to be more vivid. He gave me another suggestion on were to place the tattoo, and I am glad I listened! I was nervous at first, but Jason puts you ease. Besides being in an uncomfortable position for 2 hours, I count it as one of my coolest experiences. Everybody who see's my peacock comments on the detail and the color, thanks Jason and Molly for the great time!

i got my first tattoo her in july of 08. for the most part, everyone was really friendly and kind of helpful, but i do have a few complaints. i went in wanting to get a saying going around my wrist (like the one pink has, if you know what i'm talking about). really small writing, but i figured it was no big task, as i'd seen it done before. all the artists insisted it couldn't be done on that amount of space so instead i got it on my ankle, which was fine, just not what i had intended for. pepto was my artist and he drew up a sketch pretty fast and i was happy with it on paper and the price was reasonable (he even gave me a discount b/c it was my b-day). he wasn't the most personal, the other artist there were a lot friendlier and more helpful. he did make the whole experience a breeze though. it wasn't terribly painful, he let me take breaks when i needed to and the whole thing was done in less than 15 minutes. i was initially very pleased, but after the tat healed, i did notice a few imperfections. there was a small amount of ink blotching, like where maybe he let the needle sit in one spot for too long, one letter is slightly wavered (not a perfectly straight line, i mean), and the thickness of the lines are not consistent (some parts of letters were thicker or thinner than others). no huge mistakes, but if you look carefully, you can see some small imperfections, which i think shouldn't happen when it's something permanent on your body. i'm happy, overall, it's not like i wanna get it removed or anything, but i don't think i'll be going back.

For my 40th birthday I decided that I wanted to commemorate my new age with a tattoo (my FIRST) that symbolized who I am and what's important to me in my life - my children. I found a design that was perfect (a Celtic Motherhook Knot) and then started looking for ""just the right place"" to have it done. I did my homework, asked people who had tattoos and read reviews and found Allstar Tattoos to be the one that was spoken most highly about. Before my BIG DAY, I personally went in to check them out and make sure that they looked like somewhere that I wanted to have my work done. I was impressed with what I saw when I first walked in, the shop was clean and neat and the staff was very friendly even though I walked in business attire and looked nothing like I wanted a tattoo!
Everyone at the shop was great! They were very polite and genuinely friendly. Because I went on a Friday, the didn't take appointments so I was there RIGHT when they opened up and was the first to walk in. Jason was at the counter and aske me what I wanted to have done. I showed him my design and he gave me a few suggestions to enhance it's look and deliver the right finished product. Before starting, he was patient with me while I made sure that he had the right placement and even had to do a ""redo"" before I decided it's location was right. During the whole process, Jason was talkative and I felt very at ease carrying on a conversation with him. An hour later, I had a beautiful tattoo right where I wanted it - just as I had invisioned it!!!
I can not say enough wonderful things about Jason and Allstar Tattoos! They were professional all the way around and stand up to their reputation. And since the process of getting a tattoo was not nearly as painful as people make it out to be you never know.......I just may get another one and will DEFINATELY return to see Jason!
Thanks, Allstar Tattoo for helping me make my 40th a memorable one for the REST OF MY LIFE (Literally)!!!

Definitely the best place in St. Louis to get a tattoo. It was my first experience there and right from the start they were very nice and attentive. I had a design that I found on the internet and Rob Johnson drew it exactly the way I wanted. My wife had a tattoo that she wanted touched up and Dustin did a great job at making the tattoo look brand new. I'll never go anywhere else to get a tattoo in St. Louis and I might even fly back here to get a tattoo from Rob if I ever move.

Excellent experience! Very friendly staff. Just an FYI, as of May 2008 MJ no longer works at All Star, but I highly recommend asking for SAM if you are okay with a male piercing you. The entire place was very clean, casual, yet professional. Also, don't forget your ID 'cause they won't do it if you don't have it!!

I followed Nate (one of the owners) from Iron Age to All-Star when he opened the shop a few years ago. I have a lot of tattoos and Nate's done two of the big one's on my shoulders. I have had tattoos done from six different artists and Nate is my 2nd favorite only to Mike Malone, one of the old-skool tattoo legends. If you want a tattoo from great artists without getting ripped off, I totally recommend All-Star Tattoo.
i have been looking at tattoos for a long time and finally got one. but i didnt get it at ALLSTAR. they would not do my tattoo because i was under the age of 18. they said i was too young to get a tattoo but i think that its my body and i have the right to do anything that i woant with my body. but ironage is better

This place is absolutley amazing. I recently got my lip pierced, I've had a lot of problems with infections from getting my ears pierced, so I was hoping my lip would go through a lot better. I wasn't expecting all the advice they gave me on how to take care of it. MJ is simply amazing, she explained everything she was going to do (All while teaching, I guess an intern there how to pierce and all that jazz) and explained how everything was packaged and sterile etc. She was very friendly and helpful. I am definitley going back if I get any other piercings or my first tattoo.

I did my homework..........read up online, went to visit a few shops, looked at portfolios.......blah blah blah......Went in for stars, loved 'em & stayed to get a righteous sacred heart with my mum's name. Beautiful lettering, colors, etc.
Thinking about getting my hood pierced after talking to a female piercer on staff (she has load of experience & knowledge & made me feel at ease).
I will be a loyal customer here.
