I really want to like this store - but unless you are in their "clique" or a long time customer or bought a machine from them (which myself and a friend would have except they made us feel like we were beneath their time)- they treat you like you are a nuisance and a bother. their fabric selection is great - the customer service - not great. same experience all 5 times i went - my girlfriends had the same experience so it's not just me. dont go unless you want to feel like you are imposing and beneath their time. I stopped going - after 5 times I got the message.p.s. this review is for the st. louis store - i have heard thru the grapevine that the Fairview Heights store is much better and know several St. Louis folks who will not go to this store but will travel over to the Fairview Heights store because their customer service is so much better.

My experience at the St. Louis store was very different from Anna G. I had never even heard of Jackman's Fabrics until today, when I found them through an Internet search. I needed trim to match a dress. The color turned out to be very unique. One of the associates (Dee) patiently walked me through trims, lace, and fabric - in a VERY large store - and spent a lot of time on what was clearly a very small purchase by a first-time customer. She actually advised me against the final choice after taking the time to spread the fabric out in natural light. My experience was that they have outstanding customer service, a very large selection of beautiful fabric, and fair prices. I will definitely be a repeat customer.
Jackman's Fabrics is the most wonderful quilting shop I have every visited. They have so many beautiful quilts and other items on display that inspire you to create your own. The displays change with the seasons, and there are always new and fresh ideas waiting to inspire your creativity. The staff is very knowledgable and always willing to offer their assistance. Jackman's Fabrics continuously offers classes in the many sewing arts, including embroidery, bringing in top artists in their field of expertise. They are a one-stop shop for purchasing your new machine, to sewing/quilting accessories, to home decorating supplies! A wonderful, inspiring shop!
Great place. They have all the answers to any sewing or quilting questions, not to mention the greatest fabrics. I purchased my baby lock machine here, so glad I did.
Deal with it. This is the place to go! I've had both experiences described in the comments, but I wouldn't go anywhere else. The personal service and the knowledgeable repair person are totally worth it.
I was initially concerned about taking my appliances there based on the first review. I discarded the second review, as it is unethical to submit a review based on another review rather than one's own experience. My father-in-law had good dealings with them in the past, so with one positive and one negative opinion, I decided to give them a try. The gentleman there was very professional and courteous. He had my two appliances fixed within 24 hours and was reasonably priced. I would recommend them without reservation to anyone.
They do not stand behind their products. They do not accept returns on their sewing machines, period. I tried to return a machine, and was given an absolute answer of "NO" . They have a no return policy. The only option offered was that I could trade it in on a more expensive model. When I asked to speak to a manager, they said they would have someone call me, but no one ever did.
Thank god I read the reviews first. I considered going until I got to the negative reviews. The first time a business treats me rude, it will end bad for the business, so they won't get mine.
