Located in St. James, N.Y., Smithtown High School East is part of Smithtown Central School District that serves more than 11,000 students in several elementary, middle and high schools. The school offers more than 10 subjects as part of its curriculum, including art, math, business, family and consumer science, health, music and technology. Additionally, it also offers courses in foreign languages, such as French, German, Italian and Spanish. The school s library and media center offers materials for recreational reading, electronic databases for periodical and newspaper topical research, curriculum related videos and DVDs and several curriculum CD-ROM programs. Smithtown High School East has several clubs and societies, including chess, debate, drama, English, free thought, gay straight alliance, jazz, math, science Olympiad and tri-music honor society. The school also has several varsity teams, including girl s and boy s cross country, soccer, volleyball and tracks.
