We have built over 11 brand new homes in our lives, two of them being custom homes. The experience we had with Richardson Brothers was by far the worst. They let their Construction Superintendent go towards the beginning of our project and after that there pretty much was no supervision. We ourselves had to find the flaws and oversights. Bowed windows, wrong fireplaces, wrong countertops, wrong grout in tile etc. etc. The pool done by Cutting Edge is another nightmare, charged for a waterfall twice the size we received, grout lines over an inch wide, in pool table tile that has edges that could cut you easily and that is just to name a few. We now have a fence/sinking yard issue that was brought to their attention before the one year warranty expired. We are almost six months out from that with no resolution. A builder/general contractor is only as good as the subs they hire and they aren't supervising the subs.
Salisbury has a ton of great plans to choose from! The company built a great house with a large amount of options! I would recommend Salisbury Homes to anyone looking for something affordable and NICE!
"We were in the process of moving to Southern Utah when we came across a home built by Dennis Miller Construction. We have built three-homes in Northern Utah and the craftsmanship of this Dennis Miller home was on par with our high expectations therefore, we contracted with Dennis Miller Construction to build our new home in Southern Utah. We sure are happy we made that decision. We were walked through the custom design process and the end result was plans that met our needs perfectly. During the construction as each phase was completed we would go through an inspection to make sure everything was done correctly. We had several change requests during this time and each change that resulting in an additional cost was thoroughly explained before work was started. We were thrilled that our home was completed three-week ahead of schedule. In conclusion the home is beautiful, the craftsmanship is fantastic and the process was the best we've experienced. RENTERS AND HOME OWNERS BEWARE!!!!FOR RENTERS: You will never get your deposit back and the company will make up fake damages to the house to make sure you never do get it back. They may even try to charge you more when you try to leave.FOR HOME OWNERS: This company does not care for your property. They will not call back renters even on their emergency line when there is a problem. Please go read my google review for a more in-depth review. Yellowpages has a 1000 char limit preventing me from explaining the problems I have had with this company.
VanDam construction is a highly recommended place to go if you're looking for a true custom home experience.
The phone number for this business is no longer correct.
We had Desert Sky build our home this past year. We are more then happy with every aspect of their company. They were very upfront with the costs. When it was time to pay they would show us every bill that our money was going to be used towards. If that is not honest I am not sure what is. As for the comment below you had said "I wouldn't trust them with my home", you must of not built with them since that phrase sounds like a current home, I have referred many of our friends to them and hope that they make the choice to build. They would even take my calls afterhours. I don't know any company that is willing to do that. All I can say is that my husband and I are so happy we went with them after meeting with three other builders.
We had Desert Sky build our home and we were extremely pleased. They did everythingthey said they would do and more. Everyone was great to work with.
Consumer's Original Complaint :After expressing displeasure about buyer negotiations, Jorge Prado (owner) called and engaged in insulting, juvenile, high-pressure sales tactics. On May 8th, 2013, I received a call from Jorge Prado as a follow up to interactions that I had with one of his real estate agents (the agent was professional). The interaction was regarding a home in St. George, UT and my desire to move on since the seller was not willing to engage in more than a horse trading style negotiation with a series of written offers as the frame for the negotiation.Jorge called and began with a series of insulting, canned sales tactics to try to get me to do what he wanted, which was to put in a second offer. Among other things, he called my stance "silly," told me I clearly wasn't "serious," told me to decide if I was a "real buyer" or not...and that a real buyer would put an offer in. He also told me how "business is done." The foregoing, among other aggressive tactics, were very off putting, particularly when I expressed having been highly trained in business, law, and negotiations at top 10 institution of higher learning. To this he stated that he "didn't care what (my) resume says" and that he is from a world where "all that matters is results." So, the 'result' of this is a complaint to the BBB regarding unprofessional, offensive sales tactics. I hope others will have the chance to read my comments, as I don't think anyone else should have to deal with Jorge Prado again. Consumer's Desired Resolution:That Jorge Prado exits real estate or at least stops having client interaction...since he clearly doesn't respect those that he does business with.
Run the other way. Salisbury comes in and builds fast. The houses are built as cheap as possible. We moved in and had flooding problems the whole first year. No drainage was planned for our house. We had to have pumps installed underground in our backyard to keep the water away from our house. 10 days after the 2 year Salisbury warranty ended, our air conditioner went out in the middle of August in the desert. We found out that the warranty information we had on our air units was only on the outside units. Inside we had a whole different motor, with no warranty information on it. Salisbury's guy bought 7 or 8 Coleman motors from his son and we happened to have one of those and it failed. When we called the manufacturer, they couldn't even identify the motor by the serial number. They said it must have been purchased damaged or on the black market. We are 3 days now and counting with no air conditioner. It was 111 degrees yesterday. Calls to Salisbury lead to a dead end. They fly in and build houses, then are gone and you are left to suffer the repercussions.
