Varicose veins usually are the result of a breakdown of the Great Saphenous Vein, an internal vein on the inside of the thigh. The great saphenous vein is only visible with an ultrasound test, therefore, all patients with bulging varicose veins need ultrasound testing prior to treatment.

General Surgery
In addition, Dr. Zuzga completed an interventional endovascular fellowship at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Here he acquired state-of-the-art training in minimally invasive treatments for vascular disease including carotid artery stenting, stenting for the treatment of aortic aneurysms, and angioplasty of peripheral arteries. He is a member of the International Society of Endovascular Specialists and has co-authored many publications and studies on vascular disease. His interests include all aspects of vascular surgery and general surgery.Â Dr. Zuzga is the Director of theÂ West Florida Vein CenterÂ for minimally invasive treatment options for vein issues, such as varicose and spider veins.

Dr. Mark Zuzga, D.O. a is a native of Michigan. He received his bachelor’s degree at Oakland University, and his medical degree from Michigan State University. He completed a general surgery residency at Mount Clemens General Hospital in Michigan, and a vascular surgery fellowship at Deborah Heart and Lung Center in New Jersey.
