Our waiter was amazing! He really made the experience! He danced and kept the drinks flowing! Even kept up with the humor
I love the place, food, and the customer service. I love going here with family and friends it's fun.
Fun and entertaining experience. Seafood is just ok! Not much meat to the crab and lobster and sometimes the crab pots are over cooked! Fun drinks and overlooks the river
Went for a lunchtime meal with work colleagues on a wet rainy day!
Fortunately, this place is very good with great food and enough choices, good time had by all!
When my 9 year old discovered his love for seafood we were so excited to take him here! He loved all the crab and shrimp.
Such a fun atmosphere here, and a beautiful setting in Old Sacramento right next to the river with the bridge and boats right there. If you can be seated outdoors that's the best! We like to bring our out of town guests here for a taste of Sacramento at its finest!
Great place to eat and overlook the river. Great food too. Great bread with oil and vinegar. Nice covered patio outside.
Great fun..... Beautiful patio dining overlooking the River....great food and service. Wish they had a few more items on the menu for those who don't care for seafood.
This is my sons favorite place to eat. The have amazing seafood. And the staff is always keeping you entertained with there dancing. Always a good time.
The last couple of times I have been here weren't so great, but this last time was HORRIBLE! My husband, sister-in-law and I were all waiting for at least an hour on our food, the people that ordered 5-10 minutes after us had gotten their food 15-20 minutes before we got ours. Our waitress Alicia was hardly there, took her so long to get back to us and she forgot to give us ranch. We had asked her when we had gotten, our already cold, food if we could have ranch. We had waited for her to come back so long we just gave up and started eating our cold food.I get waitressing is not an easy job, but it seemed like our table really didn't even matter.
Fun! Fun! Fun! My three year old loves to dance with the servers and the music is fun (if a little loud). The menu is both diverse and delicious and I have yet to order something I didn't enjoy. Service can be a tad, okay, more than a tad, slow. If you're in a hurry, you might want to go somewhere else but if you've got time to kill and a hankering for seafood stop by Joe's Crab Shack. Their steam buckets are expensive but yummy and you can get a big variety of seafood this way.

Provided by Citysearch -Worst experience ever!!! Two of our party or 11 never got their meal, we were charged for them after we were told they would be taken off. The waitress refused to split the bill and put it all on one tab. She charged each of us for a double salad that nobody got. We were charged for 12 meals while only 9 were actually served. We never got drink refills. Worst of all, she gave herself a $100.00 tip that we had to pay!!!!

Provided by Citysearch -The restaurant had just opened for the day so our large party of eight had no problem being seated. However, by the time we were seated the restaurant was filling fast and our waiter decided to to take all the orders in his section at one time starting with us. Needless to say, though we were first to be seated we were last to be served due to the waiter's clueless actions.
The soup, as the fish and chips was cold, the ""chicken"" breast was in pieces and fish served was tough and chewy.
If you are looking to have a conversation, want good food and prompt service, Joe's Crab Shack is a BAD choice.

Provided by Citysearch -So, I'm from San Diego and have had the best seafood all over so obviously I avoided Joe's my whole life like the plague I thought it was. However, my boyfriend finally convinced me to go and I ordered one of the new steam pots, the new england bake, and he had the one with all the crawfish and creole seasoning our first time there together. Honestly service was quick and friendly and both our food was really good, super tasty, I gave him one of my lobsters and was def. very full. We've been back multiple times and every time it has been fast friendly service and delicious food.
Sure it's not a high end restaurant, but people you get what you pay for and Joe's is a good value! And secondly, obviously its a crowded restaurant so go on off days or hours with large groups or if you just want to sit and eat quickly! Also, the outside seating is best if you want to hear who you are out with!

Provided by Citysearch -I have ate lunch there a couple of times. The first time I had shrimp & it tasted like the Gordons frozen shimp you get at the grocery store in the yellow box.
The second time I had the fish & chips. Not too shabby. Our group sat on the Patio.
When you sit inside, it's just to noisy.
I like to eat in peace. I have reviewed several restaurants in the Sacramento Area. To check out my Blog just Google: Sacramento Blog Uncut

Provided by Citysearch -It used to be a great place to go take your family, of go out with a group of friends. But lately its hasn't been. I took my family out there on St. Patricks day, i expected the long wait. I didn't expect the cold, crummy food, nor the terrible attitude we got from the waiter or the hosts.
Three times in a row, i have found stuff in my food thats not supposed to be there. I had plastic, cellaphane type material, and hair.
The waiter there was upset because my wife wanted to sit on the patio and look out on the river and it was over crowded inside. the table he gave us had the sun beaming right on it. When i asked for another table, he got in a hurumph and tried to put me at another table with sun. So i picked up my thing and told him which one i wanted and sat there. He then walked away and complained to the other waitress, sent her over to take our order, and didn't see him until he gave us the check. Did i mention the food was terrible.

Provided by Citysearch -I'm always a little skeptical about seafood in central CA, but this was not too bad. I got the crab steampot that came with some crab legs (not super meaty unfortunately), potatoes, corn on the cob, and sausage. The crab legs were the most mediocre part, unfortunately. The rest of the food was great. Overall I think it is the atmosphere that keeps people coming back to this place. Their servers are very friendly and put on some fun shows throughout the evening. It is a very fun place to go eat on a Friday night down by the river in Sacramento.
