Had to come to Sacramento for a family emergency. I had pre booked a room at the extended stay but when I got there they had somehow screwed up the reservation and I had no hotel for 6 people after a 6 hour drive . I hAd stayed at the governors inn previously and it was ok but nothing special so I thought of them as they were right down the street. The night clerk answered the phone at 1 am and was very nice and even have us a great rate since it was already in the am. The place is really nice after the renovation. The service was nice and it was super quite. Thanks.

The first time I stayed here, it was okay. Nothing special. Nothing derogatory. The second time however.... where do I start.
It was New Year's Eve. I had 700 more miles to drive in the morning. I just want sleep. When I got to my room I immediately noticed the smell of paint. (I even took a picture of leftover blue painter's tape on the ceiling to prove it.)It wasn't too bad but after a half hour my throat started to get sore. I went to the front desk to explained the situation to (I believe her name was Annet, black lady with an accent). The conversation went like this. (and I'm not exaggerating)
Me: Hi, my room smells like paint. Can I get another room please?
Annet: Oh that can't be right. We haven't had anyone paint since summer.
Me: Do you have any rooms available?
Annet: No, we are sold out.
Me: How about the second floor?
Annet: It's under renovation.
At which point the two other hotel clerks there looked at her. One said, ""We don't have any at all?"" ""No."" She replied
Had the parking lot contained more then 15 cars. I would have believed her. There had to have been more then 75 rooms in that hotel! WTF?!
Me: I stayed here two weeks ago and I was on the second floor.
Annet: I can put you in a room there but it wont have any beds.
Me: Are you the manager?
Annet: No. But I do everything around here.
So I opened the windows to air out the toxic paint smell, ran the heater and ran the shower at max to keep the room warm all night.
Had it not been a holiday weekend I would have called the city health department the next day!

I host three to five business retreats and training sessions every year. I've had many experiences at different spaces around Sacramento, but none even remotely compare to the Governors Inn. With its convenient location and airport shuttle, I don't have to worry about getting my employees and regional supervisors to the location. Out of town attendees appreciate the clean and spacious rooms, and the group rates really help our bottom line. The food is great and the meeting rooms are completely wired so I don't have to worry about setting up projectors or speakers. I will definitely use the Governors Inn for all my future events.
