I left an item for repair @ Sears. When I had not heard from them in 3 wks, I called the listed number and after answering numerous electronically generated questions was referred to a central office. I was informed that I did not exist. When ask to connect me with a person at the store, I was again rerouted to the same number, same questions and same answering service. Again I was told that my order did not exist. After speaking with others at the central office, with the same answers, I was finally able to speak with someone at the local store again discovering, that neither I nor my repair item had ever been to that store. Since I had both the receipt and repair slip the situation was resolved after several minutes, a simple transposition of numbers.
My complaint is not that they transposed numbers, but instead the difficulty in obtaining a store number (about 45min), where I could actually speak with the local store. If these people wish for us to shop locally, they need to give local service and availability, not hide behind layers of misdirection and broken English.
