My daughter has been attending this school since 2016, and i am very happy with her education there. I grew up in a christian home, went to a christian elementary school so in addition to attending our own church every week with her, I wanted the same foundation for her. The principles they are teaching are bible based so if that isn't something you want your child's foundation to be based on, then this school is not for you. Yes its expensive, but when i see my child reading her bible EVERY SINGLE NIGHT before bed, and when she is proud of herself for getting a 100 on her weekly spelling test, or we are talking about pollution and how we can reuse items to help the environment, then i know its worth it. She is excelling in math, learning Spanish and science and music.

But, no school is perfect and everyone and everything has room for improvement. The communication between parents and teachers has gotten better since we started here, but teachers leave and are replaced with no notice or explanation, class projects are not explained clearly enough. But these are my own personal preferences for communication.

My daughter comes home saying Ms....really loves me. What more can you ask for.

Teachers and staff are always available for contact and are eager to help students should they be struggling in any way. This type of school system also makes it entirely possible to graduate and go to a great college like any other student in a "normal" school environment. Definitely an incredible experience and so worth it. Thank you Mr. K – we love you as a young male teacher and we are sure you love us too. Thank you for the dedication and help and even though you teach very hard and mark hard, we know it is for our best because we have seen the great results in our exams. Thank you for helping me score Level 4 on my State exams.

We took our kids out of public school. we felt they not getting a strong educational foundation(especially our son). Since our son has been in Rosedale Christian Academy with the help of great teachers, administrative staff and smaller classrooms, he scored 98% better than students in his grade on the state exam. "IT TAKES A VILLAGE TO RAISE A CHILD" is truly the belief of the school. We always knew our son had great potential, with the help of RCA it now shows.

This is a small school community where every parent can be involved with school activities. The teachers are great and everyone knows the kids so this make them feel special. They learn a lot of Christian values at this school. As a parent that have two kids in this school, I am very happy and would recommend the school to any other parent out there who is looking for a good academically structured good school environment ... and that would like to have a great education for theirs kids.

My children are excelling academically and I am very happy here – likewise my children. My youngest is performing two levels above the general school around here and my older scored Level 4 on the Common Core State exams. A great school that places great emphasis on academics.

Would love to recommend this school as one of the best here in Rosedale community and Queens in general. Speaking from the heart! Parents would love to see a high school now in place that carries over the same great education and values. Thank you staff!

My son started at Rosedale Christian School this year after a rough time in the public school setting. Here at RCS, he has thrived so much and has learned so many great skills socially and behaviorally that have absolutely helped him to excel academically. He is now in the 5th Grade and has scored Level 3 on the State exams. The teachers and staff here are so patient and absolutely go above and beyond! They took the time to actually get to know my son and what his interests are. They used this information to develop a plan that would work for him! Each child here is appreciated for their differences and are unique in their own way. The instruction and plans are individualized for each child. My son loves school so much now and hates when school is closed or there is a vacation! There is no better feeling than knowing that your child is happy and feels loved at school! Thanks Thanks Thanks!

The staff is readily equipped ...

The staff is readily equipped and are carefully specialized in dealing with children who are intelligent (even genius) but have some challenges (either behavioral or learning). It is a warm and nurturing environment with state of the art learning and an evidenced based behavioral component. There is NO other school like this one in my honest opinion. Their social thinking curriculum, for example, teaches kids how to better understand themselves and others and has a strong anti bullying component built into it (This curriculum should be used everywhere IMO). The extracurricular activities are excellent and are appropriate even for a child who is easily overwhelmed. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that my child would joyfully participate in the arts, singing, Christian meditation, music, etc. The school strives to connect the community to the student body (and visa versa). I am happy that the schools are now considering donations for the homeless, food drives, etc. I cannot wait for this to start and I am ready to start working with the student body and the PTO board to get this project us and running for community awareness. This school is such a good school that once the community is aware, the people in the community will definitely support this school and thus help the student body with their playground effort etc. I am asking the general public to support this great school for its great significant role it played in the lives of the students it serve. —Submitted by a parent

I can understand the frustration of the administrator posted earlier on this review page. Far from the truth -- this parent most certainly has a personal vendetta against the school. If she is talking about this school, then my child and I are not where she is talking about ... certainly not RCA! Our child moved to RCA from a private school... we love the attention of the teachers, the facility is excellent and the classes are small/medium size. The staff and is amazing, attentive, and caring. From the first day we came to RCA until today we've felt welcomed and our child has enjoyed it tremendously while learning and progressing. The setting at this school is more like a family - everyone knows everyone's name! My child is doing exceptionally well at this school. We can't wait 'till our second one is able to go there.

If you could design an ideal elementary school, then you would design RCA.

My son is in his third year at RCA and I find it hard to believe the less than par reviews I've seen posted. Ms Pauline is an excellent principal who not only is a great listener to parents but she acts on finding solutions to issues. She is a do-er. The teachers are all stellar. Yes, parents have their preferences on who they get each year it seems but really, there are no bad teachers. It is a loving, special place. I feel so blessed to be a part of this school.

We just got back from 1st grade Back to school night. I feel so lucky to be part of this school. The teachers are warm, caring, and wonderfully professional. It's clear that they take pride in what they do and spend a lot of energy being the best they can be. Plus, it is a child focused environment. We are starting to love this school. This is our first year and we are really hoping for great success with this school. My child is in the 1st Grade – Rosedale Christian School

Fabulous educational environment where gifted learners can thrive and excel at their own pace. My 2.5 is reading!! Unheard of!! Some of the highest quality educators in the district have been chosen to make RGAP and RCS the very best place to learn! My kiddos (one in preschool and one in Middle School) travel almost an hour each way to attend. My middle schooler scored Level 3 on the NYS exams. It has been a huge blessing to our family to be involved at RGAP – Preschool and RCS middle school. Great foundation and great teaching. It can be a bit pricey but you see what you are paying for. My 2.5 year old is using the McGraw Hill curriculum for all the core subjects – Math, Science, Social Studies and ELA. She uses those same textbooks in class and also for homework. She is involved in technology just as my middle schooler – except my middle schooler uses laptop and she does not! This tells you that the academic foundation is stabled! So happy to find this school. My children are excelling academically by leaps and bounds! Truly a gifted program! RGAP and RCS please keep it right where it is – upward yes, downward NO! —Submitted by a parent

Level 4, Grade 5 -- What more ...

Level 4, Grade 5 -- What more could a parent ask? By far, the best program / curriculum/ parent support/ school we have experienced or heard of. My son started @ RCA four year now. We have been 150% satisfied with the methodology of teaching. My son has this pre-cursor about him… he learns very very fast! The teachers beautifully engage these bright kids in a way that keeps them wanting more. The Common core and above curriculum (ELA, science, technology, & math, etc.) is skillfully woven together using the arts as the yarn. We have experienced good teachers in other schools, in & out of the CATS program. But, these teachers are not only top notch, they are given the freedom to teach, not drill! The hands-on projects, the team teaching, the technology... all support and foster a deeper connection with their learning experience. Common Core State Standards are a natural foundation for this program. This was the school program I prayed I would find! And, RCS gave it to me. Thank you! My ONLY disappointment with this program is that it is not closer to my home. The bussing helps! But, it is still a struggle to get to school. By the way… my child scored 4 on the State Exams! The top level – 44444444! I am not only a parent but a very happy parent. School highly recommended!

My son was accepted to Rosedale Christian Academy for his first grade year. Immediately I noticed the advanced technologies provided by the school. I also noticed that the teachers amazingly have a vast knowledge of each individual student – since the third week a letter was sent home to us indicating my child’s academics strengths and weaknesses. We were able to help him in the weak areas. Glad the first week of school is reserved to testing and assessment. The teachers have been very attentive of responding to every email I have ever sent. The curriculum challenges the students to stretch their minds and learn in their own personalized learning fashion. I hope my daughter is accepted when she is tested next year. I intend for my daughter to start Kindergarten at this next school year.

From the great experience I have had with RCA, I can truly say this school is filled with highly skilled teachers who genuinely care about each student – from what I have observed and the experienced. I am so trilled to find this school! (I am truly blessed – thank You Lord for Your blessings on us)! My little one started with this school and was so afraid the first week he started there. We just could not get him to settle his nerves. The teachers took the time to make him welcome each day until the day when my little one could not wait to go to school each morning. Then it was time for him to participate in the SAT10 exams and he was again afraid. The teachers quiet his spirit each day for the four days of testing. They assured him he was smart and could do anything he wants to… he believed them. Each day he would come home and tell me that his teacher told him he can be anything he wants to be and that his class was Harvard Elite! He sat the exams with a lot of confidence and scored 96 on the percentile scale! Thank YOU GOD!

I cried the day I received the results from the school. My boy -- from being a timid little boy to a bright, innovative and very confident student!

Also, I am happy that the school is going technology – Tablets, Laptop, Computer and Smartboard! Students have consistent access to these current technology and are challenged to dig deeper in their subject matter using these same tools. Rosedale Christian Academy was an answer to our prayers when our son was bored at his previous school.

For other parents of gifted children, you understand the need for your child to be continually challenged... and you will find it at RCA! Great School, Great Teaching, Great Director and Great Teachers! Thank you, Thank you and THANK GOD!

RCS is an exceptional school, ...

RCS is an exceptional school, based on my experience I can truly say this.

The teachers are enthusiastic and creative in presenting the curriculum. There are many opportunities for hands on projects and for students working with their peers. The school has a cluster teaching effort (rotation) with teachers that team-teach. We love the opportunity to get the best of all these teachers in facilitation of learning. There are many opportunities for parent involvement..., the PTA/PTO board, Parent Liaison and Parent Volunteer Boards, and the parents volunteer their time, money and experience to help make even greater things happen. Love the new boards and all in all, the experience here is great.

Love the fact that the school is multi-racial and multi-cultural! Great schools for learning and even greater for staff and faculty interaction.

Academics and Curriculum are such a PLUS PLUS PLUS at this school. I was recommended to this school by my accountant and my child has not sat any of the exams yet… but it is based on the fact that he told me how much his child is doing well and how his child exams passes are outstanding why I choose this school. I cannot wait to start seeing him excel. However, currently, he is doing well academically.

Love the PROJECT, MUSIC, AQUATICS, THE ARTS AND VISUAL ARTS, STUDENT GOVT. AND THE CLUBS THE SCHOOL OFFERS! Wooooooooow!

My son is in his 3rd year at RCS. We simply love the school. This is such a unique opportunity we have here in Rosedale. Parents are greatly involved, excellent communication. Very responsive staff. Amazing experience. My son loves it here too.. and believe me we tried the whole array of schools before committing to RCS, but he fits here perfectly. So for a great school experience, there is no better option in the ‘valley’ than RCS in my humble opinion. My son sat the Sanford Achievement Test 10 in Grade 1 and 2 and scored 97 and 99 respectively. He will be sitting the State Common Core and I am hoping he will do just as well. I can recommend this school hands down and with my eyes close!

RCA is a wonderful school with an incredible philosophy supported by amazing leadership, educators, staff and families. The school believes that all students can excel and that is true. The school adopts different teaching styles to accommodate all students – whether visual or through the conventional method of textbooks.

My family finds the school community to be warm, friendly and welcoming as well as incredibly inclusive - embracing and celebrating students’ diversity in its many forms. Parent involvement and participation is encouraged as shown in the PTO body and the Parent Liaison body. The school itself runs very transparently in my opinion. The thoughtful curriculum intentionally takes into account the development of a child as a unique individual, and supports an individual learning path, while also promoting working together in groups. Multi-age classrooms combined with exceptional teachers able to differentiate curriculum allows my child to learn at a level appropriate him as individual. In addition to a rich academic and arts education – which for most part is demo at graduation and Christian Spectacular programs, social emotional programming is very thoughtfully interwoven into the school experience which results in an incredible sense of classroom and school community, and a sense of comfort and belonging for every child in the school. The success of each child is based on my philosophy as a parent ‘Happy children who love school will love to learn’! The school promotes what sums up my philosophy… my child loves to learn because he is very happy at this school. He walks away this year with Level 4 on the State exams – the infamous Common Core. Last year he scored a Level 3 – promotion, promotion! I am very very happy with this school. Thank you Mr. K for all the hard work!

RGAP 13 (Preschool) is focused...

RGAP – (Preschool) is focused on teaching to gifted learners but also caters to other learners whether slow or fast learners. If the child is a slower learner, the school faculty takes the time to develop the child’s academic ability before moving the child into the general population. The school accepts all students with all of their quirks and personality traits, good and bad. One thing for sure, the bad will eventually become good! Chuckles! The staff is communicative, focused and efficient. The principal’s assistant has even returned my calls on weekends because she is so committed to communication and parent involvement. It is NOT an accelerated school, the kids my learn faster, but pushing through information is not the goal at this school. Learning how to look at information, apply it to real life situations and process solutions in creative and unique ways is the true focus. Frankly, I think all schools should be taught with the philosophy found at RGAP and RCS. The teachers are so in touch with the students' needs and best teaching practices. They involve parents, not shun them, and they listen to your concerns and follow up at all ends of the issue. The classrooms are spread out and spacious. I am so thankful our child has been able to experience this quality of teaching and content across curriculum. RGAP Rocks! I would highly recommend this school! — Submitted by a parent

Rosedale Gifted Academy Preschool is where my son started. The school diagnosed my son's dyslexia, then provided resources in his learning and suggested help for him. They further embraced his other outstanding gifts instead of label/isolate him. First, I was unwilling to entertain this quality of life for my child, but the school administrator sat down with me and pointed out the fact that ‘it is what it is’ and we should deal with the problem instead of running away from it. I am glad they suggested that. Today, my child is better able to grasp his learning and he is excelling nicely in school. He made it into Kindergarten and from there onward, there is no stopping him academically. He is now in the 5th Grade and excelling as an incredibly self-aware, empowered and academically resourceful and engaged 5th grader. The schools intentional integration, social emotional development and academic instruction to teach the whole child is more than awesome. Now that my child is at Rosedale Christian School, we found out that the school celebrates each students gifts and talents (including my child’s); starting from grass-root upward (preschool into elementary/middle school). Many schools purport to do this, but RCS has been a pioneer which takes this approach to a whole different level within this region and is soaring with the idea. Our family found out that the students at RCS possess critical and creative problem solving skills which is shown in the independent exams that the school participate in. The schools ensure that the students connect their learning to the world around them, and effectively collaborate and communicate with culturally and socioeconomically diverse groups of students within the school community. To this end, thank God that my son is now learning to be a leader who have extended himself to help others be successful with different learning capabilities. My family is privileged to be a part of this special school - I wish every child could have a RGAP/RCS education as it celebrates the individual child with a focus on their gifts and talents. The head of school has integrity and leads rather than react and the students are taught to self advocate. I am a happy parent who is proud to have my child RCS. I would highly recommend this school to other parents whose child or children are diagnose with similar problem. Some parents from within the school community may complain about other things but no school will be perfect – absolutely NONE! My suggestion is: Prospective parents and others who are still with the school, go for what you want from the school and overlook the simple things that may make you disillusioned – the academics is great and the other things will follow. Believe me,,, I have proven this to be true!

This school is outstanding. Th...

These schools are outstanding. The teachers are all focused on academics and try to teach kids how to think instead of how to pass tests. Rosedale Gifted Academy - the preschool provides an engaging curriculum to make learning hands-on and fun. I realize that for both schools, bu the upper division especially, students are being prepared to think critically and apply new knowledge to addressing real-world problems. I feel fortunate that my children have the opportunity to attend a school with such an excellent program for gifted students as it pertains to my little on in the preschool. My little one goes to RGAP and my 4th Grader goes to Rosedale Christian Academy. My 4th Grader did exceptionally well on the New York State Common Core exams – scoring a Level 3. I am grateful because she is coming in from another private school where she constantly scored Levels 1 or 2. I wish the day when she would have scored a 3 and at that time I would be overjoyed but it never happened. Can you imagine the excitement I felt when I received the news that she scored Level 3? This is only after one year with the school. I love the fact that the school celebrates each students achievements which encourage the students to do better in their academicis pursuit. My little one is excelling too. Now that he is at the preschool level, I am hoping when he gets to the upper level he will still be soaring! This is my prayer. I kept my children in private schools not because I can afford the tuition but because I want the best for them. I am really glad that RGAP and RCS are both great schools which encourage me to continue to try keeping my children at these schools. At the moment I am very happy and I think I will worker harder just to keep my children in these school. I am a single mom and finding it hard to keep two students in private schools always but I will under no circumstances remove my children from these schools – that’s how happy I am! Thank you RGAP and RCS!

Rosedale Gifted Academy is a g...

Rosedale Gifted Academy is a great environment with many excellent, dedicated teachers. The research is clear that a self-contained environment is the best for helping gifted learners reach their full potential. I think gifted children can easily coast at most other schools and never learn that success is the result of hard work rather than natural ability, but that is not a problem at RGAP. Also, the self-contained environment is a boon for parents and teachers who can feel isolated in other setups. The teachers (at least the ones I've known) are focused on teaching the exact things I find important - learning how to enjoy challenges and learning how to think critically. There's not a lot of memorization work, which may be an adjustment for parents and students used to lots of drills. I see other reviews that point out some issues that I see as temporary. In addition, there have been some inevitable growing pains as RGAP went from nonexistent to its current state in just a couple of years. Ms. Pauline has engineered this school so that students can excel — and my child is no different. Coming in a a freshman – knowing nothing at all to top of her class – honor roll and Principals Award is no joke. Truly a gifted and talented program. Ms. Pauline I cannot say thanks enough… this school has certainly outdone itself. Truly a gifted and talented program. Submitted by a parent – Rowe-(lings)
