I have been a client of Catzablanca’s for about 3 years and this is my first review. My latest visit was for my cat Eli. When brushing his teeth, I noticed some gum bleeding and his breath was BAD! I immediately called Catzablanca to get Eli seen by Dr. Peter Braun. Dr. Braun confirmed that there were infected teeth and he needed a dental procedure. The staff scheduled an appointment within a day of this particular visit. I always get nervous when my animals are having any procedure and in particular because a dental requires anesthesia. Needless to say, I had nothing to worry about because he was in competent and caring hands! The cost of his care was very reasonable, especially considering he had to have five teeth removed and required aftercare. He is now home, happy and healthy!

First and foremost, I honestly feel my cats get the best of the best in quality care. Dr. Braun is a wonderful and caring veterinarian with a terrific bedside manner! I never feel rushed during our visits and all my questions are always answered completely. The staff is so caring and considerate, always happy to check on my cat when I call. I would highly recommend Catzablanca to all who ask!

I've been a client of Catzablanca for years. I recently took my cat Sammy to Catzablanca after he started having seizures (found out it is due to my new 1080p TV!!!). I worked with Dr. Braun on his treatments and he treated Sammy like he would his very own pet. All the workers there are VERY nice and love to see the animals. Dr. Dupont - you are wonderful as well! Thank you for taking such good care of my lovable Sammy :) We will see you at our next check-up!

Employee for 10 years!

I have been working at Catzablanca for over 10 years now, and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. I am honored to work for such a caring and compassionate doctor like Dr. DuPont. She is absolutley amazing when it comes to treating and healing such a sensitive animal as the cat. We are grateful to have such wonderful clients who become like family to us. I am so honored to be part of the Catzablanca team and love my fellow co-workers!

With help from the caring doctors and staff at Catzablanca I was able to have had 20 years with my cat. They specialize in cats so the staff and doctors only have to focus on one species, and what a difference that makes. I had been to another vet hospital where they didnt even offer bloodwork to my elderly cat because he " looked fine". When they explained at Catzablanca the importance of various testing and in doing them they diagnosed my cat with kidney and thyroid problems that wouldnt have been caught without it. The doctors and staff do not pressure you they educate you and give you the best possible care. I wouldnt take my cat anywhere else. They only want whats best for your cat and dont you?

I have been a loyal client of Catzablanca for over 15 years and wouldn't think of taking my cats anywhere else!

The very first time I brought my kittens in for the kitten wellness program I knew I was a client for life. Both my cats had very rare conditions in thier late years and Dr Braun walked me through every step and I am grateful for the extra time I was able to have with them due to his commitment to caring for them as if they were his own. They even helped my adopt my new cats when the time was right.

The entire staff is warm and caring and you can feel that they love what they do!

I love the convenience of "cat parking" for appointments so I can drop them off in the morning and go to work and come back. If I board my cats I know they are getting attention all day long and I can call and get updates.

I highly recommend Catzablanca!

These folks are AWESOME Dr....

These folks are AWESOME

Dr. Linda Dupont has been treating my cats for seven years and I'd never take them anywhere else. Her exams are thorough and she's really gentle with them, even when they're not cooperating. Two of my cats are healthy but one has pretty serious health problems. Whether I'm dealing with Dr. Linda or her partner Dr. Braun, I'm always given a range of treatment options and recommendations. I feel that my insight into her health and my decisions are valued.

The staff are all great with felines. Whenever I've visited my cat in the hospital (yes, you can visit) and I'm back in the exam area, I see how the vets and techs handle all the cats. They're always gentle and calm, even with feral cats. At other vet practices my cats have been yelled at in front of me and I can only imagine what goes on behind the scenes there. Dr. Linda has stopped in to check on my cat on ther day off and once even called me when she was on vacation. Wish my dr. did that.

Catzablanca has what they call "cat parking," where you drop your cat off in the morning and pick her up after work, and there's no extra charge. This is a godsend, since it's hard for me to take time off from work in order to make a specific appointment time. Then the vet calls you or meets with you when you pick up.

I don't think I could find a better vet. Friends I've sent there agree.

This place is horrible. STAY A...

This place is horrible. STAY AWAY!

My friend had her parents bring her two long haired cats here for just a grooming. They had gone for groomings before to other places, and have had no problems.

This is the bull crap that happened:

Her parents had to wait 15 minutes to drop the two cats off because the desk clerk was chit chatting about her personal life with another customer. RUDE

Then after dropping them off her parents received a phone call that another cat was disturbing them from getting their grooming done and they asked to sedate them. Her parents blindly said yes, not knowing why they had agreed to. Dont you think this kind of business should know how to create a calming environment for the cats to be groomed? I guess not!

Her parents arrive to pick up the two cats and the two they bring out, one isnt even the right cat. SERIOUSLY?

Then, the bill . . . $425!!!! Usually it cost my friend $100 total to get both cats groomed at other places. So apparently, it cost another $300 to sedate them. Dont you think they would have mentioned this cost up front? Nope - ridiculous!!! The $300 was to cover an office visit for each cat, blood work to do the sedation for each cat, the sedation, and the grooming. I have never heard of this before - not needed, they should have called and suggested the cats come in another day if it was such an issue. Most people don have an extra $300 lying around for cat grooming.

When my friend found this out she was OUTRAGED. She called the place and demanded some answers and refund. She didnt get either.

She recently told me and I am just as outraged. She got RIPPED OFF bigtime. I am making it my goal to tell everyone I know not to go here. I'm also posting on every social media site I can find.

BEWARE - THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY

Seriously, who sedates a cat to groom it when these cats have been going for years with no problems? BOTH cats.

Just disgusted by these business practices.

SHAME on you Catzablanca!!!!

Catzablanca

I had a cat who suffered from kidney disease. She was in an out of the hospital at Catzablanca many times. Every time she was there, the staff took wonderful care of her. All who worked there would give me assurance that she was doing well and they would take time to visit her and make her as comfortable and secure as possible.

Both Drs. Mango and DuPont were exact in their diagnosis and it was obvious that they love cats by the gently, caring way they treat them.

The cost is a bit high, but I feel that it is worth it to have healthy and well cared for cats. I would highly recommend Catzablanca to anyone.

Stay Away!

I recently took my cat here for an eye problem, after getting nowhere with my other vet. I took him to Catzablanca on a Friday, and was told it was dry eye. The vet tested for an ulcer, and he didn't have one. I was given eye drops & ointment and sent on my way. Also told he had an infection, but not what kind. FIVE days later I was running him back because his eye was worse. I was told it was an ulcer. The vet didn't examine it, but told me that he could see it. Told me that the cat had no vision left in that eye, and it was going to rupture. He tried to schedule me for eyeball removal right then and there. Then was annoyed when I wanted to take him elsewhere for a second opinion.

Well I'm glad I did. 2 days later, I hauled him up to the eye doctor. Who told me it would not have ruptured as it wasn't that deep. Also the he did have vision left in that eye. I was given drops and ointment, and sent on my way. Get this - the cat still has both his eyes! And no, some people don't care more about money than their pets. But sometimes cats get sick when you yourself are having a hard time making ends meet. It's not a matter of being a neglectful owner. It's about being made to feel like dirt because you don't have $1000 to shell out for a procedure right on the spot. Catzablanca is a rip off. All he saw that day was the $800 he was going to make the clinic for taking my cats eye out.

ALERT--This Clinic Only Cares About The Money Not The Cat-- BEWARE !!

I have to say, when I first brought my cat in to Catzablanca I was impressed. They really seemed to care for my on again off again diabetic cat. My kitty is back to being diabetic and needs dental work, I unfortunately had lost my job a few months back so I am tight on funds. Emily & the doctor treating him made me feel like I was a neglectful owner because I could not afford the $310 for testing with the diabetes and the additional $600+ for the teeth. I was told over and over in front of a packed office that because I had no money... because of your financial difficulties... they wouldn't even explain what they had done that day with my cat. Emily the receptionist tells me they already called & spoke to my boyfriend so I should call him and he would explain. Instead I waited for 45 minutes for the vet to come out and talk with me. Someday the bubble they live in will pop & they will see how the world really is. I haved moved my kitty to a much more caring vet. Cindy is the only good thing they have left there. I would only consider going back if they got rid of those idiots that think they are better than the rest of the world. They are all about the money... not about the animal. I would not recommend anyone to ever go there unless they like getting treated like dirt.

It also would have been great if they informed me of the side effects of the antibiotic they had me administer to my kitty. It is now 2:30AM and I am still up with a diabetic cat with diarrhea. Needless to say ~ I am one extremely irrate former client !

Will Miss Catzablanca Dearly....

I just recently moved to Houston Tx and was not looking forward to trying to find another vet for ""my girls"" that could please me like Catzablanca does. Having two ""moody"" siamese, trips to the vet were an experience....even before getting out of the car, but I NEVER felt like I was geting anything less than top care from the staff. I can't recall ever waiting for more than a few minutes after arrival for normal checkups and was thooughly impressed by the staff in their keeping me regularly informed on their progress during the heartbreaking 2 night stay after surgery. It is clear that the staff love and understand the complx sensativities of felines and hope that the new vet I chose down here can at least come close to Catzablance.

My favorite vet

My whole family as well as friends and their families have been using Catzablanca for years. We would never go any place else. Being a cats-only hospital, it is a great place to take your cats and kittens since they don't have to deal with dogs and other assorted animals running around all over the lobby. The staff is so nice and caring, a great group of people. They really make a personal investment into your cat- and when one of our cats died the whole staff even sent a sympathy card.

The medical care received is great. One of our cats had been having digestive problems for years (mainly loose stool) and we had tried all sorts of different high fiber foods and remedies to help him with no avail. We took him to Catzablanca and he's been a new cat ever since. Much happier- problem solved.

As for the person who rated them 1 star because of grooming- I wouldn't really call that a fair assessment. First off, it's a vets office. Of course it's going to be more expensive than a ""holiday bath & bow special"" at Petco. They're a VET. Second of all, unless it was medically necessary we'd never have our cats put through grooming torture. That ""cute"" lion cut may be thrilling for you, but the stress it's putting on your cat is unnecessary. Not to mention the fact that we have a Maine Coon cat (who we adopted there as a kitten) who's the size of a bear cub and has a long, thick, shaggy coat. Professional grooming has never been needed.

Overall, if you're looking for a great vet in the Hartford area- GO THERE! If you have anything less than an excellent experience, I'd be shocked.

Grooming is awful, they look for ways to rip customers off

I can't speak to Dr. Du Pont (I'm sure she's a fine vet, but have never used her), but I can say that the grooming operation is a RIP OFF. From the second I walked in they were trying to find ways to charge me extra. They started by saying that sometimes they need to use anesthesia or restraints when grooming. I replied that in 9 years, my cat has never needed either, and that if there were any issues they should call me and I would pick him up and go someplace else. They did call - when they were half way done with the groom. So I had no choice but to have them finish it up, and dished out an addition $45 on top of the $50 for the groom. $95 to shave my cat? What really gets me is that they charge the extra money if they need an extra person to restrain the cat for more than 15 minutes - the groomer said she thought it would take an additional 30 minutes. Do the math - $90 and hour for an assistant groomer. I obviously chose the wrong career path. Needless to say, I will NEVER even CONSIDER going back. If you are considering Catzablanca for grooming, save yourself the time, frustration and money - look elsewhere.
