Took my daughter's car to get the water pump changed , and plugs were misfiring. They fixed the problems and when they took it to test drive found another issue. I must say if they were not as thorough as they are my 16 year old new driver may not have survived if they had not fixed the broken spring that was scraping the axle.

We have a unique vehicle that is hard to find parts for. They went over and beyond to make sure we had the right parts and were satisfied. Their prices were fair. Great personalities, the owner and his son. I would recommend them to anyone.

My boat trailer broke down near this shop, which was to my great good fortune, because they diagnosed the problem quickly, located the parts right away, and replaced the bearings and a rotor, taking care of a problem that another shop had created. You are in good hands with Tom and Brett! Highly recommended!

Had work done on my 2016 Fiest ST, Tom was very careful not to damage any body work (the car sits very low) and had an exhaust and rear motor mount on my car in an hour. Wanted to charge me $68 which i thought was a hell of a deal.... Forced him to take $100.

I had taken my daughters VW Bug to another garage because it started hard...they said they fixed it...they did not. I took it back there 3 times...still not fixed. I took the car to Tom @ West Street Auto for a different problem & told him about that one & he figured out the problem & fixed it too. Very smart guy....knows his stuff & tries to save you money where he can. I will never take any of our cars any where else. Can't say enough about him and his son....great team! Glad I finally found someone who knows his stuff.

Tom is now my go-to mechanic! After the amazing experience I just had, I will not go to anyone else. I highly recommend him to anyone. He saved me hundreds of $$ by doing his homework to get me superior quality parts with life-time guarantees. I was really impressed by how he took the time to explain everything to me. Excellent communication skills so there are no surprises. He's true to his word and 100% genuine and honest, and you can tell he wants to do his best. You can tell he loves what he does. He's obviously very organized because he takes time to talk to each customer in an unhurried way. His minimal overhead expenses also allow him to offer a cheaper labor rate. I can't imagine a better mechanic.

Tom is an honest and straight forward mechanic. We arrived on his doorstep from out of town with our car not running properly. He quickly and methodically figured out what was wrong, fixed it and we were on our way with a cheerful smile. I was a little skeptical of all the other 5 star ratings and comments but this guy is the real deal.

After getting a $3,000+ estimate from Bill Dodge in Brunswick for a "possible" fix for my 2004 (198,000 miles) Sonata, Tom took my car and fixed my problem and inspected it for less than $100. Any more problems, he'll get my cars.

One reviewer on Google+ says that Tom is the best mechanic in the United States. While I don't know if this is true or not (I've not been to every mechanic in the nation), I do know that he is honest, forthright, and does excellent work for a fair price. He's brought my '05 Dodge Caravan family van, Matilda, back from the dead twice now (in contrast to Another Nearby Garage Which Shall Remain Nameless) that did in my formerly faithful '02 Toyota Camry through gross inattention and negligence. Two thumbs way up for Tom and West Street Automotive!

Excellent, friendly service at a reasonable price. So glad I discovered this place. Have had both my Hyundai Tiburon and my wife's Volvo S60 in, and I have been very impressed.

I have a used 2003 Discovery with over 110k miles, and was dreading, dreading, dreading, going to Portland to the dealership to fix the growing list of issues. I spoke to Tom after reading the reviews here, and I'm so glad I did. He's incredibly kind, taking time to explain what he found and the different ways those issues could be addressed -- and he was fast and (bonus) very reasonable! Considering I was looking at losing at least a day by going to Portland (not to mention the expensive parts and service costs), the decision to stay local was made easy after speaking with Tom; I'm incredibly pleased. I have a new mechanic, and I recommend him without reservation.

My company, out of Portland, had a van break down in Rockport and luckily this is where I sent them. Faced with a very complicated problem, they kept me constantly updated and wouldn't rest until they solved it. Very reasonable rates, just a pleasure to work with. Ernie M

Let me start by saying anyone who knows me would say i am a very fussy person.I don't just want it fixed I want it fixed rite.So when my heater core went out on my 3500 dodge truck there was no question I was driving 10.5 hrs. to ME. so Tom at west st. auto could fix my problem and fix it rite this time, as we both learned later apparently the people I bought the truck from took it to the dealer, where they fix it, but forgot to put all the proper parts back in, so needless to say it failed again.Tom and Dustin are two of the best mechanics I know. they fixed it up better then new for a very reasonable rate.They even went above and beyond when they serviced the truck for my trip back to Pa. Mite I add with heat! THANKS AGAIN GUYS !!!

I Don't normally write reviews but felt compelled to after using the services of West Street Auto. I was recently in town from Boston visiting my parents over the holiday and my 1985 VW Vanagon (Not an easy car to work on!) developed a gas line leak. Quite a serious and pressing issue. The guys at WS Auto were fantastic! They fixed my car quickly, safely and expertly and allowed me to continue my trip with piece of mind. I cannot say enough about the care they took to explain the issue and the fix. I was extremely impressed with their technical expertise. I would recommend this shop to anyone in the midcoast Maine area for reliable, expert service.

My fiancé and I moved to the area recently and were nervous about finding a good mechanic for our cars. Well, let's just say we hit the mechanic jackpot with Tom!! He is very knowledgable and will give you the honest facts about what is wrong with your car. He is easy to talk to and more than willing to explain exactly what he needs to do and how he is going to do it. Tom is by far the best mechanic I have encountered anywhere. Superb diagnostic skills, incredible knowledge, and excellent service - all for a tremendously reasonable rate.
