Called the Rockford, MI branch and talked to Chad the branch manager. I asked him if they had any specials they were running, like 1% interest for 90 days for new accounts. He said all they had was a money market savings account that paid .085%. After talking to him more about it, I told him I would be in within a few hours to open an account. When I arrived at the bank, I introduced myself and he took me back up front to have one of the girls set up the account for me. I guess a 100k deposit did not rate high enough for him set up the account for me.When one of the girls took me to an office to do the paperwork, she mentioned right away that this account required checking and that I needed to use a debit card so many times per month, to get the .085% rate they were offering. I then asked why Chad, the branch manager did not tell me about these “gate keepers” when I was talking to him on the phone a few hours earlier. I told her I had no need for a debit card or checking. All Chad told me was they are offering a money market savings account with .085% and never mentioned the gate keepers. She started giving me the look down her nose at you feeling so I told her to forget setting up the account. As I was walking to the door, I asked Chad why he did not tell me about the “gate keepers”. With an attitude like he owned the place, he made me feel like he was doing me some kind of favor and not a service. I also got the feeling he did not like his job. Acting more like he was just waiting to be promoted so he could go play golf with the big boys while the common folks worked. If this guy was working for me, I would have let him go for not disclosing fully to the customer. I will never return there.
