I get to Sears Auto Center. No one is there. He finally returns. As I gave him my paperwork, he was making comments about how I was not on "his list" for today. He was muttering about my rental agreement being on paper vs in his computer system, as if it were my fault. The agent goes outside and explains to me that he has to move my rental and inspect it. I say that's fine. The agent is walking back into the building, so I ask TWICE if everything is ok. I was positive it was, because I filled up the vehicle, no damage, and the inside was as clean as it was when I picked it up. The agent states that "it smells like you smoked in there and are trying to cover it up." I try to not be offended and state that is impossible because I do not smoke and laugh it off at first. He went on about how he knows "when someone has smoked in a vehicle." He stated how horrible it smelled repeatedly. He even had the nerve to say he "smelled it on me too when he walked into the building." Then he pointed to the rental agreement and stated that he could charge me an additional $250 for smoking in the vehicle. At this point I was infuriated. I told him repeatedly that I do not smoke and that I did not smoke in the vehicle. His response was NOT agreeing with me, IT WAS that HE DID NOT find any EVIDENCE that I had smoked in it. Wow, I was accused of it over and over, many times after this conversation should have been ended, insulted by telling me I smell "horrible like the vehicle". He went on that I "got a good deal on this rental" as if I did not deserve it. I was beyond elated when I walked into Avis, excited about my new car in the parking lot. The mgr ended it saying that the Goldsboro location must be trying to unload this vehicle on him "because he knows the rental business games and how they work." He claims they wanted to get rid of this smelly rental so "it's his problem now" that he has to get it cleaned bc no one will rent it bc it's been smoked in. Worst car rental experience
Car was clean...staff were pleasant and helpful and didn't waste my time. Will go back there later this month for a holiday rental.
Its the staff that hooked me.. Always professional to the point that they treat you as if you are a VIP customer. Even when your a little flustered they remain calm and find a solution. Are they perfect no, but that is what makes this place so easy to work with. They try to resolve any issues that may come up. a trip or the use of a vehicle because of an accident they are their to help
this place is such a great place to rent from. easy and affordable. The employees are very helpful. There was a young man there named Austin, he was extremely helpful. Not only did he try to help us find the best deal, but he also took the time to show us a gps feature. I will defiantly rent from here again.
