You need to be extremely firm and adamant with the doctors about your level of pain and the seriousness of the symptoms at every visit or else nothing will happen but a 'merry-go-round' of ineffective treatments. I was in constant pain, my legs were falling asleep. I could not stand or walk for any long period of time. I was stumbling at my job and starting to pee my pants. It was from a pinched nerve. Do NOT accept explanations like: 'it's all in your head' or 'some of us have to learn to live with disabilities and pain' or 'get ready to be declined for the surgery'. I went through chiropracty, pain meds, steroid shots, back braces, TENS units, PT, X-rays and MRI, etc. I had already spent over a thousand dollars on nothing. The PT (which is owned by the hospital) made the condition worse. WTF? I found a neurosurgeon that listened to me and fixed my back with a Laminectomy. Remember that a second medical opinion is very important. I feel that USC was doing a 'money dance' with the health insurance company while they already knew what had to be done to help me. Meanwhile I was suffering and in danger of unemployment because of their inaction. I gave them several months to help me and I was very dissatisfied with the outcome of their service.
