The Monroe County Water Authority is a public benefit corporation organized in 1950 under the New York State Public Authorities Law. It operates various treatment plants that produce more than 60 million gallons of drinking water per day. The authority serves Monroe, Genesee, Ontario, Wayne and Orleans counties in New York. The Monroe County Water Authority is one of the largest water suppliers in the United States. It maintains facilities, fleet maintenance and operations, engineering, constructions, and production and transmission departments. The authority also operates a finance and business department that is responsible for accounting, investments, information technology, purchasing, and collections and claims. The Monroe County Water Authority is located in Rochester, N.Y.
