My scallops were undercooked, so I asked the server to have the cook throw them back on the fire for a bit longer. Because I really hate doing that, I watched her communicate with the cook who scrunched her face and said, with tons of attitude, something along the lines of, ""I don't know what she's talking about - it's cooked."" Well, after 5 minutes, the scallops returned not having changed one bit. The same pale purple, gelatinous insides were gleaming at me on the plate. Had they been fresh, I wouldn't have minded, but they were obviously not, so they needed to be properly cooked. Also, the bacon that was wrapped around the asparagus on the side was rubbery. I will not be returning.
This restaurant has excellent food at a reasonable price. Great wood fired pizza and pasta dishes. Atmosphere is cozy but busy. Can't go wrong for a great dinner at a reasonable price. Service sometimes leaves a lot to be desired, but I still go back. One of my favorite places in Rochester

I response to Mark Strickland. I have visited Vento?s several times and have always enjoyed the food and the service. I have read your review on several sites and find them to be absolutely absurd. Obviously you have never traveled outside of Rochester because adding gratuity is common practice all over the country, and in fact all over the world. Also in regard to adding a third chair to a table for two may actually be against fire codes.

I don't agree with either of the other reviews!!! I love Veneto, very nice down to earth people. The food is amazing, everyone can have a bad experience somewhere. Also, 20% gratuity is standard these days and it shouldn't be argued with. 7 people is a large party and is difficult to serve well! Don't go out if you don't want to tip. That is not an upcharge its standard

Incident #1: It's a shame -I like the food very much. Once I was having dinner with a friend at a small table. We were surprised by a visit from another friend, but the restaurant would neither get him a chair nor get us a different table. He ended up leaving.
Incident #2: The restaurant added a 20% Gratuity to our bill, even though we only had a party of seven.
I have never heard of seven people being considered a ""large party"". This charge upset everyone at our table.
After my guests had all left, I re-entered the restaurant to inquire why this charge was on our bill.
Instead of speaking with me or reasoning with me, I was simply asked to leave.
The following day I called and asked to speak with Tracy, the Restaurant Manager. She said that the gratuity was their standard practice. The manager further explained that there is a lot more work for a large party and a major inconvenience for the kitchen and wait staff. It was a burdon to take care of a table of seven people and we were to be up-charged for their having to endure this situation. I was then informed that we were no longer welcomed at Venetos.

i don't mind waiting for good food, but the staff should be a little more accomodating to the fact that people will be hanging around for two hours and not be so exasperated. the food is good, but i don't think i'd wait for it again when there are plenty of other nice italian places to go where the staff seems more capable.

I LOVED THIS PLACE. THE PIZZA IS WONDERFULL AS WELL AS THE PASTAS. ALL OF THE MEALS ARE FRESHLY MADE AND ARE DELICIOUS. I LOVED THE STAFF AND THE MANAGER WAS AWSOME. THE ONLY THING THAT UPSET ME WAS THE RUDNESS OF THE CUSTOMERS THAT HAD TO WAIT. I GUESS THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND THAT GOOD FOOD TAKES TIME.

My date and I ate at Veneto last night and we were very impressed! We arrived around 7:30pm on a saturday and put our names on the waiting list. Veneto makes waiting fun with their very own wine/piano bar next door. The bartender was very helpful in finding a wine to suite each of us while we listened to the jazzy sounds belting from the piano. Our drinks were only half gone when we were told our table was ready next door. We brought our drinks to our cozy table for two. Veneto's menu is very simple but everything sounds delicious! I chose the greek pizza and my date chose the pollo, both were fantastic! Veneto has turned pizza into a fine food!

This is as close to fine dining meets pizza as you can get in Rochester. Nothing on this menu will disappoint you. Very cozy atmosphere, but also very busy so come early. Parking nearby. A place you bring that special someone, not large groups. Good winelist. This is an adult pizzalovers dream & prices are reasonable. Walking distance to the Little Theater.
