Avoid it like the plague.

Egregious customer service makes Papa John's one to avoid at all costs. Their pizza is passable, though not the best by any means, but the customer service is so incredibly bad as to make the quality of the food irrelevant.

For just one example, I ordered a pizza around 9:40 p.m. and told them I'd pick it up in about 20 minutes. The woman on the phone said no problem. To be on the safe side I asked her how late they would be open. She said until 1 a.m. I got there around 10 p.m. and they were closed: Doors locked, no sign of life inside. What does it matter what the pizza is like if you don't get to eat it?

Papa John's completely ignored my complaints about this incident, not even an apology. Then, to add insult to injury, they started spamming me with advertisements. I've asked them repeatedly to stop spamming me but they continue.

Something is obviously terribly wrong with Papa John's upper management. They act as if they have no competition, and individual customers don't matter. Consumers don't have to put up with businesses that act like monopolies.

For pizza in Rochester, try somewhere else, like Mark's Pizzeria (good customer service), Pontillo's or even Pizza Hut. If you're downtown and don't need delivery, Galleria is great.
