I have had my wedding there along with my showers and other parties. It was perfect I couldn't ask for anything more. My family and friends have their parties at Golden Ponds and our guests always rave about the food. The staff is great and they are very friendly people.
It was horrible.....the eggs were cold, french toast was soggy, bacon was soaking in oil, and all the hot food was cold too. The hot food looked like it had been sitting out for hours on end. The desserts must have been frozen for months because they were all watering and tasted so old. The juice and coffee weren't even included and the coffee tasted liked it had been brewed hours before hand. I wouldn't have paid $2.00 a head let alone $21.95. It cost my husband $185.00 and if we ate a total of $10.00 it was a lot. We all had to come back to my house and I had to cook dinner for everyone...I was so upset. We had gone to Mario's the week before and for $2.00 more a head, it was absolutely worth it. Everything was fresh, warm, eggs prepared for you and juice and coffee were included.
I attended a wedding there about a month ago. The bartenders were putting absolutely no alcohol in the drinks and my friend paged for top shelf open bar - this is a flat out scam which deserves to be reported. Everyone was complaining that the drinks tasted like watered-down soda.
I was able to convince a bartender to make me a double shot on the rocks(by throwing money at her). Now, I know my liquor. This drink was literally 75% water 25% vodka. I am not exaggerating.
The owner of the place was sitting at the bar the entire night hovering over the bartenders, so I really believe that the bartenders are trained to give out little to no alcohol. I have also read another review which stated that the owner was also hovering over the bar the entire night at their weddings, and made customers wait much too long to order/receive drinks(and they had also paid for top shelf open bar).
This is a complete scam on the customer who the owner must assume will be too busy worrying about their wedding to notice that they are paying hundreds of dollars for soda and water. I have never in my life been to a place that so blatantly rips off their customers. The owner is a cheapskate who tried to nickle and dime the bride and groom for everything.
This place charged $800 for a 'candy table' which consisted of variety bag candy that can be bought in bulk that was poured into cheap glass vases with cheap Christmas lights around it. I mean, it looked nice enough, and the guests really loved the candy table, but...800 dollars??!!
The water/soda drinks that were top shelf price was the biggest insult. After considering it I have decided that Golden Ponds must be reported to the Better Business Bureau. I can't imagine a place that so blatantly takes a customer's money without providing the service that was paid for hasn't done so more than once. I believe that this type of establishment needs to be reported for taking advantage of its customers like this.
PS -the owner tried to tell the bride and groom that they could not go outside to the patio out back for pictures because they didn't pay extra!!!(they went out anyway). The patio wasn't even anything nice, either. Just some drab little gardens with a gazebo and a mini bridge.
A word of advice to people considering booking Golden Ponds Restaurant and Party House for your event: Keep your money far away from this place.
We regret honestly that this customer had a bad experience. We can assure our many return clients and customers that there are no such instances of "watered-down" drinks. Truthfully, our bartenders are taught not to overpour, which can result in problems with the present DWI laws, of which we all have to be mindful of. Any restaurant owner also knows that all of us are under close scrutiny by the state liquor authorities, and it would be foolish for anyone to do something in the manner of which this customer accuses us. The owners do periodically "hover" over the bartenders, and not to guarantee that they cheat the customer, but rather to make sure that our bartenders are not giving someone a little bit too much liquor for the sake of an extra tip. The prices for all of our additional services are discussed before the wedding is booked, including the garden rentals for pictures, etc. We are truly sorry that this customer did not appreciate the candy table which we offer for many of our special functions. The price charged is per person, and we, unfortunately, have to make some sort of profit from our services, so although $800 seems steep, everyone present at these weddings seems to go home with plenty of candy and very well pleased. We would welcome a chance to discuss this with the dissatisfied customer. All of our management team have been employed at Golden Ponds for over 25 years, and if there is anything we can do to make you more comfortable with this matter, we hope to hear from you in person.

Our daughter's wedding reception was held here. From the time we began planning the event with Ralph or Kathy we were so impressed by their attentiveness, experience and patience. Thru several face-to-face meetings, many phone calls and emails they answered questions and ironed out the details that can make a bride-to-be crazy, and her mother crazier still.
The reception (for 150) was exceptional. The room was nicely arranged. The buffet was plentiful and delicious. The entire wait staff and bartenders were amazing - both in their graciousness and in their willingness to accommodate the special needs of several guests. Golden Ponds also made the wedding cake. It was exactly what we had ordered and looked beautiful. It was excellent - much better than some of the pricier bakeries we'd considered. Many guests raved about our reception and thanked us over and over for including them! I'd do it all over and not change a thing!
Golden Ponds has done several of my friends weddings, showers, and reheasal dinners. The food has always been outstanding, everyone comments on how tasty everything was. Two of my friends who had their wedding and reception there told me that the banquet staff was wonderful to work with, completely accomodating, quick with responses to questions, and flexible in customizing to their special requests. The reception was decorated beautifully, and the service was outstanding. The ceremony in the garden was surprising since from looking at the outside you would never know what a beautiful little retreat there was next to the building. There was even a waterfall behind the bride and groom during the ceremony!
The prices are extremely reasonable and the food is outstanding. I reccomend it to amyone planning an event!
