Michael Barber of Roanoke VA has no business tattooing anyone! I now have to have 2-3 years of painful and expensive laser removal treatments to show my leg in public again. You can see his poor quality of work all throughout the tattoo (missing colors, uneven shapes and sizes, unmatching colors, etc...) Strongly considering reporting him to DPOR.
DON'T GO HERE! This establishment is terrible. First no one is really certified as they advertise. I asked to see their certifications and they do not have them anymore. The place is not as clean as they claim either. Have talked and seen two pieces of ink done there that were terrible in quality and one was so infected. The guy, I think owner, is a complete weirdo that tried to have his way with my sister while she was there getting work. There are plenty of other shops in the area. This is definitely one I would be careful with.
I have been going to this tattoo studio for all of my tattoos and piercings. Unfortunately, I have had such bad experiences with the secretaries being extremely rude and condescending that I will not be going back.
Upon arrival I was greeted very poorly. The artists there were not nice at all and there was no hospitality. Wish I would have been treated better. For this place they have lost me as a customer and I do not plan on coming back.
Roger LaDouceur is the man. The day I went in to schedule for a consultation, he gave me one right then and there. Was very sensitive to my ideas and gave me some great feedback on what I wanted. He kept me up to date on the progress of the tattoo he was drawing out for me and it came out exactly how I envisioned it. The studio has a great feel to it, the artwork is proudly displayed throughout the studio, I mean the walls are covered, it is also very clean. The staff is all very friendly and I feel very comfortable as soon as I step foot in the studio. I will and have recommended Star City Tattoos to all my friends and he is my go to guy for any future tattoos that I plan on getting, which I will!
Went in several months back to set up a consultation for a new tattoo. The man at the front desk was nice enough, asked us if we needed any help, if we had a particular artist in mind and to take our time while I looked through each of the portfolios for the artists working there. When I had finally chosen the artist whom I thought did exceptional work, he informed me that it was their day off but I could set an appointment to come in for my consultation. Not 2 minutes passed and the artist I picked showed up. The man at the front desk told me to hold on, they wanted to go grab them so that I could meet the artist I picked, said they probably wouldn't mind. He went outside and mentioned it to him/her and I could tell by their hand gestures and tone of their muffled voice that it wasn't an option. They could have taken just 2 minutes to come meet a potential client that was planning on spending a great deal of money there. Instead, they opted to stand less then 10 feet from me, smoke a cigarette and throw a fit. I thought it was very rude and extremely unprofessional. Oh, and it took almost 2 weeks for a call back for the appointment for my consultation. Considering the first impression I had received from him/her, I don't think I will be recommending them to anyone. The environment seemed pretty laid back, clean and it was nicely decorated in the studio but even the nicest surroundings can't make up for an artist with a bad attitude.
