Glad to have her as my ENT specialist

I'm being treated by Dr. Mao and I couldn't be more pleased. She will be doing surgery on me in a few days. She has zeroed in on my problem and has been very quick to take care of it. She is friendly and has encouraged me to call her if I need to at any time. I appreciate her very much. I have had this medical problem for several years and would give the sypmtoms to my PCP and would be dismissed as if I was a problem patient. This is not the case with her, she examined me throughly and had appropriate tests run that diagnosed my condition. I'm convienced that if I had not changed PCP's and then a referral to her I would still be sick without any hope in the near future of feeling better.

I went in to visit Dr. Mao with a multitude of issues. She chose to focus on just one, which was the least irritating of the bunch. She dismissed me at that and when I asked about the other problems, I got a tongue click and a ""well the chart doesn't show any problems"". I regret leaving at that, but it was apparent that she didn't have any real input.

I do not have insurance and it is so extremely frustrating to be so quickly dismissed by doctors because I know I will just be back in. I have never been quick to visit a doctor's office because of a lack of insurance, so know that when I do I'm in a pretty desperate place. I will not be visiting her again, and if anyone is looking for an ENT in the Roanoke area, go to one of the others that are available.
