I have been a loyal Riverside Hyundai owner, 3 cars in 14 years, but no more! I had my Santa Fe in over 15 times across several years, before they finally figured out what was wrong with my AC. Then as soon as my 100k bumper to bumper extended warranty is up, less than 4k after my last issue/service at 99K my transmission goes out. It was over $3200. Then while they have it for 12 days I am informed that another $2000 of service should be preformed!! Interesting that it wasn't caught a few thousand miles at the previous service when it would have been covered. Other recent owners have had the same problem at this dealership too! I know it is not my excellent service advisor David's fault. He has been the reason I have been loyal for so long as well as my family. He did everything he could to present my case, but Riverside Hyundai is still screwing me. I was told if I would pay the labor they would cover the parts. How is this even fair when I had to put out $3200 on a transmission that should have been covered/caught 3K ago! Now I am supposed to further suffer for the mechanics incompetence. I wonder how come they can't find and fix things the first time. I had to have the fuel door fixed more than once as well. During that repair they sliced my door panel and it is still messed up because it was not replaced only repaired! It amazes me how they can have such wonderful, friendly, caring, and competent service advisors and such incompetent mechanics. Riverside Hyundai should be ashamed how they treated their loyal customer of 14 years!! Needless to say I will no longer be recommending Riverside Hyundai or Hyundai cars for that matter. I regret that so many friends and family have purchased Hyundai cars based on my recommendations.
My first impressions when I got there were good. That quickly changed as time went on. I'd like to think of myself as a rather intelligent person, so do not think that such things happened because I was nieve or unintelligent. Without going int too many details, I just skip to major points. The sales representative said the CD player was a 6-CD changer. I later found out that was a lie after I took the car home. The guy filling out the final paperwork was inconsiderate of our time. He spent more than 30 minutes trying to convince us to get GAP insruance when we clearly did not want it. I even said if he didn't move on, we were going to walk away from the deal. He still persisted but less forcefully. There were scratches and wear and tare on the car that were not disclosed. Yeah I know its generally the job of the customer to find them, but one of them obviously was from an impact on another object and it was cosmetically corrected with sometihng that looked like nail polish of the same approximate color. Also the guy filling out the paperwork persisted that there was nothing wrong with the car. And lastly, it was getting close to nightfall by the time I had taken the test drive. Also I told the sales represenative that I wanted a new car, not used. He brought out the car and took me for a test drive, never indicating that it was used. I later found out when my mom came to co-sign and she noticed the license plate already on it.
Also worth noting was that I went to Norco Mazda. They were very nice and straight forward and sincere. They had declined my appication for credit because I did not have a co-signer. They did not try to foce me to buy a different car or downgrade. Don't take me as an expert at Norco Mazda, but first impressions were good. I went to Riverside mazda and they said that I was approved. What they failed to mention until later was that I needed a co-signer for it to go through(I had given them the information to run my Mom's credit check but they didnt say they were going to use it as a co-signer, they were just going to use it to see the difference in interest rates).
Lastly, this was about 5 years ago so maybe they got their act together now. I think it is important for everyoen to know what to look out for when buying from them.

I bought a brand new civic in Sept 07 and it has had multiple problems since. I don't blame Honda, I just wanted to be able to drive away in a reliable Honda. When I spoke to the owner (Richard Michaelson), he was beyond horrible...demeaning and belittling. He accused me of being "uneducated" and went on to raise his voice at me and refused to help me with my situation. He stated "go talk to a lawyer about lemon laws and then you can call me and have an educated discussion about lemon laws". When I went on to explain that his sales mgr was the one who brought up lemon laws, not me he stated "WHAT! I will bring him in here right now and terminate him and you can help find him a job". I was absolutely dumbfounded. When I explained to him that I have had problems with my car every few months since it's purchase, he proceeded to explain basic math to me stating that "a few months is 2-3 months, it seems as though I have only brought my car in two times which means every 9 months." He failed to notice that the few times I brought it in it was for SEVERAL repairs.
He actually ended with a recommendation to have our repairs done at another dealership. You would think in this economy he would value his customers more. Especially since he has a letter on his website explaining how he is there to help unsatisfied customers. yeah. right.
