We adopted a rescue kitten on Sunday, brought her in for a check-up on Monday because she was very thin with a big belly. First thought was worms. The vet nor the tech examined my kitten. The vet actually never even looked at my kitten. They did take a stool sample and found coccidia and was negative for worms. We were given what I thought was an antibiotic (it was actually a dewormer) and instructed to give our kitty the medicine every 12 hrs for two days, which we did. There was no improvement and my gut told me to take my kitten to a different veterinarian in Dyersburg. The Dyersburg tech did a thorough physical exam and drew blood as well as a stool sample. The Vet also did a thorough examination and told us we should test for feline leukemia virus. The stool sample came back positive for coccidia. He said that the medication given was for worms and you treat coccidia with an antibiotic for no less than seven days. The feline Leukemia virus test was positive and it’s contagious. I’m just heartbroken. These tests and exam should have been done by Dr Parsonson. The office smells like a shelter, the receptionist was rude and we didn’t receive the service we paid for. I’m very disappointed and will never trust any of my pets in their care.
