After having stupidly ignored the pricing I saw online for MRI’s in the metro area and seeing the astronomical amount St. Mary’s hospital charges for an MRI compared to Paredes and a number of other imaging centers, I took the financial risk and got the MRI in November of 2014 at St. Mary’s. I used the reasons that they have performed all my MRI’s since 2009 and their head nurse in the dept. has supreme patient relations skills. I was a member of a group plan for retirees within a school system, and my insurance changed for 2014 so that I became responsible for 20% coinsurance (in addition to a co-pay) for MRI’s and other imaging procedures. St. Mary’s Hospital charged my insurance company, Anthem Healthkeepers POS, $5,896.29 for the MRI and me $889.24. After having reviewed the costs of eleven facilities in the metro area, Bon Secours St. Francis, Bon Secours St. Mary’s, and Bon Secours Memorial Regional hospitals charged far more than the other facilities within a twenty-mile radius of my address. Save yourself a great deal of money and do research on the costs of procedures performed at medical facilities and then act accordingly. Insurance companies provide this information in your online accounts where you can view the cost and quality difference for procedures in your area.
not impressed. Staff friendly/nice. Dr was impatient with my mother. I saw him roll his eyes at her twice. Now I can't get her to go to an eye dr because she is so disgusted. They will only refer her to the 1 dr in the Jen care program. Her ppo has many, and it takes a referral. The one dr in Jencare is WAY off and is most inconvenient. They are that afraid that some dr not involved with their own company will make the buck? omg. I am going to try to get her dr changed to someone closer asap. She did not choose this guy anyway... The Humana agent chose her dr for her....told her this was the closest dr for her to go to. ;o( He is not close... She can't even drive over there in all that traffic by herself.
went via ambulance to receive treatment for violent migraine. I'd been throwing up for hours and was in excruciating pain. Slow and impersonal staff. Gave me IV to stop vomiting as I kept begging for meds for the pain. I felt like a junkie. They told me they do not administer narcotics for migraine. Are you kidding me? They would if something was broken or cut off! After 5 hours of nothing I took a cab ride home in my bare feet. My husband was out of town on business and I beleive is have been treated better if I'd an advocate. I was screaming and crying-wouldn't with this on anyone except for the staff there who'd obviously never endured such a thing. Never going back
